They are mabey the most maginficent duo in contemporary jazz. Please keep working together!!! The world is a better place with these mellow & sweet, yet complex and painfull harmony...
Even though I am continuously amazed by their rendition of All The Thing You Are, for some reason my heart gravitates toward the patience, depth, and soul that this demonstrated here. Perhaps if I had the turn of phrase of that of a poet, I would describe what this piece means as I listen to it - then perhaps I could more succinctly describe what this rendition means to me. For whomever reads this - I hope you find that piece of music that does the same to you.
I figured out recently that the reason they sound so good together is that they don’t need each other. It’s like marrying a woman that makes as much money or more than you do -changes the relationship because you know she can easily survive without you -it forces you to treat her differently because of an inherent respect. They both know when to leave space, we all know they are monsters so they don’t have to prove themselves with velocity or crazy leaps, they can just focus on making music, which is rare these days. They don’t have huge ego’s to feed and we can hear that. Also they have such technical ability that they don't have to repeat themselves which is my and many people’s problem. They don’t really have “licks” they just play music and they make it sound easy to do. Someday I hope to be able to do that. Thanks guys
Super ! Ce festival n'était pas cette année ? Je vois que c'est en France mais normalement tous les festivals de jazz ont été annulés... en tous cas toujours aussi bien Shaï Maestro !
Never closed "Shai Maestro & Chris Potter - All The Things You Are" so quickly
Haha. I mean, at this point, what logical person wouldn’t be listening to that version of ATTYA 24/7?
Charlie Campbell I listen to that an unhealthy amount
💀💀💀literally
Sometimes I get sad knowing I wont know how to speak the way Potter does.
@@Doostun That's what Voldemort said too

This duo session needs to be turned into an album!
In the wee small hours of the morning
While the whole wide world is fast asleep
I watch this video again
And never, ever think of counting sheep

i love his tone, it's bright but not thin or buzzy just SUPER buttery and thick (i have no other idea how to explain it)

Anyone else hear a healthy amount of Mehldau?
Keith Jarrett would have tore this up. Shame he never recorded it!
He did. ECM records. Keith Jarrett At the Blue Note. 1995. Complete recordings.
