ABOUT THE GOOD PLACE
From creator Michael Schur (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Parks and Recreation” and “Master of None”) comes a unique comedy about what makes a good person. The show follows Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell, “House of Lies,” “Veronica Mars”), an ordinary woman who enters the afterlife, and thanks to some kind of error, is sent to the Good Place instead of the Bad Place (which is definitely where she belongs). While hiding in plain sight from Good Place Architect Michael (Ted Danson - “Cheers,” “CSI” - in an Emmy Award-nominated performance), she’s determined to shed her old way of living and earn her spot.

Chidi is great at knowing all about the different ideas about ethics, he just needs help deciding which versions of ethics to actually apply.

Thanks for making me cry all over again over Chidi's sacrifice and his and Eleanor's last moments together before his reboot. This show is forking good.
Just wait until you see their final moments in season 4...

There is a plot hole in the beginning where chidi says “I’m actually speaking French everything you say here is automatically translated into your native language” but actually when they do the experiment in season 2 and 3 where they’re on earth alive he speaks fluently in English without an accent or is he just really good at language is it a plot hole or am I just being stupid
ColonelMiniPenguin No I noticed that to. He is certainly smart enough to be fluent in both languages but they never explain it.
it's not a plot hole, his native language is French but he also can speak English and multiple other languages too. they mention that 1 or 2 times in the show, I think.
It is a little confusing as childhood flashbacks are all in English, and not in French.
i think he can speak both languages fluently, but he would rather choose to speak french. i think that’s why he speaks french in “the good place”, but decides to speak english on earth, in australia, so people can understand what he’s saying. i’m not sure though, that’s my guess💘🤷♀️
I noticed that too. It’s like a plot hole they didn’t know how to fix, but they tried. Yes, Chidi’s native language is French, and clearly he preferred it in season 1, but in season 3 he tells Eleanor that he went to school in America and that’s why he’s fluent in English, but all the flashbacks of his childhood schooling are in Africa (though they speak English and only his teacher has an accent).
My favorite character is Chidi. Or is it Jason? *moan* I have a stomach ache!

Ok, usually it would infuriate me to have a character/person around that dumb... but I adore Jason. I don't think he's actually dumb, as much as innocent. I mean it's like hurling a molotov cocktail does in fact solve one problem it just means he immediately has another problem. So he's not wrong... eventhough he's not exactly right either. So like he's not smart, but not exactly dumb... it's more like he's just REALLY different in the brain. I kind of want to know what those MIR scan results showed.

At first, my crush on Eleanor blinded me to the other 5 characters. After 4 seasons, my fav character is Chidi, and I have a new respect for Ted's acting.
Or as Eleanor says, "Chidi Annakendrick"...
"I don't think I'll ever be the type of person who just acts. I can't just open a door and walk through without knowing what's on the other side. Even with eternity to try, I just don't think that can happen."

I think Chidi and Jason really deserved to be in the good place. Although he is undecisive, his intentions are still as good as it gets, and is ready to help anyone.
Jason has a pure heart, he's just dumb
Intent matters, but so does impact. Chidi had positive intent but negative impact, and Jason had no intent but negative impact.
Chidi is a great character, I think they dropped the ball on their relationship so far in season 4.

Now, I finally understand why they had the scene where the boy (Chidi) taught his parents and debated why they shouldn't have a divorce. Other than the parallels of being a professor in university in his adult life, it's that he CONSTANTLY had to choose for OTHERS (e.g. his parents).
He had to choose for his parents, that they shouldn't have to opt for divorce. Bearing in mind, the various consequences for both sides.
Until when he is an adult, he hurt everyone with his "rigidity and indecisiveness". He with Simone, he with his friend who was the groom, he with himself over blueberries, he on the couch in Simone's office (both sides are the same, he chose to sat in the middle), and here, in choosing two hats which are same but in different colours.)
He had to constantly choose for others, without asking HIMSELF what he wanted. Because all his life he was doing in this way. How? How then would he know, what his choices are and what he wanted?
Even if they are the personality, they choose for others, is it the best thing for them? If you leave your kids to decide the state of the marriage, be your goddamn messenger, how is this going yo affect the kids and when they grow up. Similarly to Tahani, to Eleanor and to Jason.
Such a beautiful character and relationship.
5:31 i just realized that chidi said how normal people meet is knocking on his office door asking for help with philosophy, and that’s exactly what eleanor did when they got on earth again. (6:50)

After the last episode I love his indecisive soul even more...☺

It will never not get to me that Chidi changed Eleanor simply by agreeing to help her. He completely subverted her entire worldview by refusing to abandon her despite his countless issues. She asked him for help and in every single reboot he agreed to help her and never refused; and learning that steels Eleanor's resolve for everything that follows.
