we camp above 9000 ft and the MSR works every time for us. Cant go wrong with MSR

In harsh New England winter weather including a blizzard the MSR didn’t even blink, while my friends stoves can’t stay lit.

MSR Windburner all day. At altitude in the wind the MSR is very reliable... Jetboil has a piezo ignition that is worthless. As for the lighters i always just put a mini bic lighter in the kit and in a pinch a fire steel spark will light either one. Thanks

Agree. A lighter should be carried, as you can never fully trust your piezo ignition.

Can't agree with you. I have been using Jetboil MiniMo Stove with piezo ignition since 2014! It is super awesome feature that makes it very simple to use. No need to bring extra lighter.

@@okvorb You won't be using any jetboil above 9000ft (3000 meters) and/or in high wind conditions. The Windburner excels in that environment. One should always have with them 2-3 ways to make a fire and a mini-bic lighter takes up no space.

Windburner is clearly faster, but for the price difference so it should be, dont understand why it doesn't have a piezo, not that there the most reliable things, but still.
I'll stick with the JB flash

Love your review of these 2 stoves. I do like the wind burner. Do you have to use only iso butane or can you use a different type fuel?

very good review , but the jet boil also has the sumo pot which is 1.8 lt which does fit the flash burner, just to give you a idea of which jet boil to buy for your backpacking trips

I've got an MSR reactor - it's a beast and it beats the Jetboil Flash hands down in cold or windy condition. More expensive but much more trustworthy.

We will look into the Reactor at some point and do a full-on review on it.

Really poor review by someone who is clueless about using stoves.
