It is through education that you can change the world and break out of the cycle of poverty. The National Sample Survey (NSS-2014) shows that more than two crore Indian children still are out of school after 70 years of independence. Besides being denied an education, these children have also lost their childhood because they must work for their livelihood.
This disparity is unfair and undemocratic and hence, Apne Log was founded by a group of dedicated people working together to promote free educational opportunities for underprivileged children living on the streets or in slums.
As the name suggests, Apne Log is all about our people, our trust, our belief and our common goal. We strive to not only acknowledge the dire need to educate our children, but also leave no stone unturned to catering to all their needs regardless of their financial circumstances. We are driven by our motto that education is a fundamental right and that no child should be deprived of this right. This ethos has kept our wheels turning for six years now.
Over time, education has become institutionalized and commodified. This makes it difficult for underprivileged groups to pursue learning - a barrier that Apne Log plans to eliminate, a barrier that should have never existed in the first place, a barrier that needs to be taken out of the equation.
