My favorite song, my favorite version, my favorite band. I thank God for this pure joy every day. Perfection musically executed, by the ultimate greatest band on Earth.
No liveband on the planet comes near this. Chester, Tony, Daryl, Mike and Phil were on their top level at that moment. And there's also a version on youtube, with that long amazing drumduet just before they got into Los Endos. Another awesome instrumental part of them is, In The Cage, live, 1984' during the Mama Tour.
This still sends shivers down my spine exactly the way it did on that night when I stood in the crowd in amazement as a young man. I'm so happy that I was around when these legends decided to make music together. Thank you Genesis❤
No one is anywhere near to my boy Phil's greatness and his genius. Genesis is the most versatile band of all time and is the one to beat as far as chemistry, synchronization and distinctiveness of their instruments go. You can hear virtually each and every nuance of their instruments' sounds.
Unbelievable progressive rock group..Daryl St.-Very,very dangerous guitar player as well.... Best performance of Los Endos..listening,more than ten thousand time in all period of life..
In my 11,000-plus song collection there are some 100 songs I awarded a (subjective) score of 4 maximum stars. This is one of them. Simply the most epic song ending ever, hence the title, I presume!
Saw them in Chicago, 5 years ago. Altough they have played Los Endos a little bit slower, it was fantastic the same. This is the best line-up of Genesis on stage.
i had moved into a shared home and guy there knew i liked music , the others were going to the concert but he was not keen and GAVE me his ticket ! never really that keen on Genesis , but the concert was out of this world ! Have played in several amateur bands so can really appreciate their quality ! taking of which the sound system blew me away ! genesis pioneered Vari Lites and several years later I trained as a technical stage manager in London . part of the course was at the lighting company Samuelsons who specialised in Vari Lites , they also supplied Pink Floyd including the big concert of The Wall !
Yep. Chester's done it all, even the 'dreaded' [kidding!] Frank Zappa gig. Huge talent, modest, no ego, utterly reliable, and not a nasty bone in his body. You can be sure that both he and Darryl hit it off with Genesis because, with a whole world of world-class session musicians to choose from, Tony, Mike and Phil always stayed with the guys who felt right. There are many marriages that haven't lasted as long as the Genesis 'live' partnership. I think they just like each other. That's been good for them, and good for us, too! :-)
The most genius. In the Progressive Riock Movement .. their Live performance. Genesis excellent Live & in Concert...🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿👍🏽🤗🤗🤗👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Sorry Hackett fanboys but this is without any doubt the best version of Los Endos ever. It's like they finally realised how it should sound. The vari-lites are a bit special too. Stunning.
@@jeremybelcher1727 I'll say it once, and I'll say it again, Darryl Stuermer gets way too much hate. He's not Steve, but he's a damn good guitarist in his own right and always did an admirable job playing Steve's parts. There's a good reason why they used him from 1978 onwards.
@@squirrelguy2195 I agree 100%. Daryl Steurmer is fantastic and does really well with both Genesis on their tours and on Phil’s solo records and tours. I definitely understand why they picked him.
Brilliant...genesis always had great light shows especially the distant days of the 70s...lasers lights smoke and mirrors But the vari/parr lights of the 80s wont be surpassed...always thought the 1990s lighting show was a downgrade And some of the last tour circa 2007 were a bit hit and miss The invisable touch tour was the best of the lot...hard to think its over 30 years ago
I was there in 1987 but I was so far away in the back of the stadium I ended up just watching the screen, I was so disappointed. I certainly don't have many memories of that concert apart from being bored by support act Paul Young and the interminable wait to get out of the car park at the end. Still love their music, still stirs my soul :)
You were lucky :) ....and we got there at about 3 in the afternoon! Unfortunately, not having any knowledge of the stadium , we chose the wrong door to go in-hence ending up at the other end :( I do have happier memories of Yes at Wembley Arena though (smaller and more user friendly)
I was there as well. 1st July 1987 after seeing Gabriel at Earl's Court on 28 June and missing the train. I didn't miss it on 4 July again I can tell you but may mate and his sister did!
was there that night, phenomenal!!! queued for hours to get in, might just have been using something a "little" illegal but hey, 23 and GENESIS live....boy oh boy
One of the highlights of the show, and much more because the piece was omitted on the band's previous two concert videos. But in its own right it's a killer tune, and I love those two chords that got added on the live versions, and particularly the one at 5:37 never amazes me enough. GENESIS FOREVER RULES!!
i think this might be the only time rutherford ever played a jazz bass. an old vintage from the 60's. he should have use it more, i'm a bit of a fender jazz fan
Agreed: this is a great version, but my favorite is from the 1977 WAW tour. Tony hat way better keyboard sounds: The incredible Arp ProSoloist, Hammond T-102 and the Mellotron (choir) - and yes: I prefer Hackett on guitar here. Daryl is such a virtuoso, and soulful, but he is not locking into the band, he plays on top of it, often going out of the original arrangement. I love when he fires away in the last section: the Squonk reprise - but he just can't wait....
@Erbakanreal Responsible for that mighty sound (in addition to the actual bass guitar playing) is a Moog Taurus bass pedal synthesizer. At 3:14 you can see that Daryl and Mike both use one. You can watch a video from retrosound72 here on RUclips where he demonstrates that instrument.
The choir sound is from the Emulator II+. I prefer this sound to the mellotron. The Synclavier II FM is used for lead sounds only on Los Endos. It's the same lead synth sound used for Second Home By The Sea.
wtf... did Mike just get tired of that beautiful double neck? that was one of the coolest things about seeing Genesis live is Mike with that double neck all the time... yea this is a good version ,
I would mix 1978-80 version with this and it would be the final version...
My favorite song, my favorite version, my favorite band. I thank God for this pure joy every day. Perfection musically executed, by the ultimate greatest band on Earth.
Seconds Out version is seamless and superior...imo
@@timcornell8975 They’re both awesome.

Incredible. Love Rutherford on bass guitar and this version.

Best performance of Los Endos..listening,more than ten thousand time in all period of life..
greatest album ever "seconds out" greatings from schleswig-hostein, germany
wow... possibly the best version of Los Endos EVER recorded..... wow. Thanks !
It really is. Magical
Seconds Out version....💯

Watched this show live in Rotterdam. Absolutely fabulous.
This is one of the tracks that makes Genesis the truly great band they are. Just awesome.
Saw them in Chicago, 5 years ago. Altough they have played Los Endos a little bit slower, it was fantastic the same. This is the best line-up of Genesis on stage.
The light show at 4:15 is really impressive!
Was there, last day when Diana was there. What a day/night. Los Endos, still makes me shiver.
Holy shit. What a performance.
Damn right!!!
I absolutely love that synth-bass in the background at 4:15. Incredible.
Best live show. When the songs were over....the audience rose up! Then, sat down. I am a hard core 80's rocker. Genesis was special. 4x's live.

Fantastic track - sends you into oblivion - only Phil can make the drums talk - It doesn't get any better than this - WOW!!!!
And Chester both great Chester was with weather report don't forget
Daryl Stuermer just casually killing it on lead guitar. What else is new!?
Saw them in 86 and 87. Greatest concert experiences of my lifetime.
I was there. Not sure if it was this exact night, but I'm proud to be able to say I was there.
Being there and seeing them perform this was fantastic as was the whole show. Great memories.
Sometimes i think that they are GOD. Thank you for this grand experience. God will be playing this december in cleveland, ohio 2021
Chester Thompson. one of the greatest, if not THE greatest drummer of all time. His rythm and energy is mind boggling.
Chester, Phil, Bill Bruford, all world class drummers contributing to a world class band.
Yep. Chester's done it all, even the 'dreaded' [kidding!] Frank Zappa gig. Huge talent, modest, no ego, utterly reliable, and not a nasty bone in his body.

mike rutherfood is KILLING IT on that bass. my god man
"A trick of the tail" Best album !
After Peter Gabriel , because , Selling England by the Pound , Foxtrot , Trespass , The Lambs lies Down to Hollywood are much better
To Mordor!!!!!!!
This is sooo fucking awesome!!!!!

Genesis in the mid to late 70's and 80's, the bench mark of excellence. Sorry Peter.
Your ears must be broken. No post Gabriel album comes close to Foxtrot until Lamb. Trick and Wind are ok.
Their entire career is the benchmark of excellence (other than calling all stations).
Agreed with you. I respect Peter enormously but you are right in what you say..
THIS BAND IS SOOOO DEEP. I'M IN AWE. MY FAV.
Flawlessly fluid shredding on Daryl Stuermers guitar. Very good.
Such a tight and haunting performance! Genesis at their best. " A Trick of the tail" is a great album anyway!!

I have few regrets in life, but one is I never saw that played live, c'est la vie
Is it just me or did Mike and Daryl share the same Steinberger Synapse guitar on the Invisible Touch tour? (The one with the whammy bar)
great version, but I really miss those eerie ghostly mellotron choir sounds from the 1976-77 versions....
Tony is using a Synclavior which gives a very close approximation to the mellotron!

Sparta Prague Isn’t Tony using a DX7 for the organ and choir sounds?
the best version since chester's and daryl's era.
1:58 - Those synth sounds with a twang sounded like the sitar twang.
class!
Los Endos live elevates them to Gods.
ESPETACULAR
