No, she is NOT under rated. Yall really need to master english better. Under APPRECIATED is what you are looking for. Everybody that knows hiphop, says B's name in lists.
I feel Bahamadia was held back, because she didn’t have the commercial type “look” that the masses were coming to expect from women rappers at the time. The Kim’s, Foxy’s, Amil’s, Eve’s…Shame, she was an incredible talent. THB is a classic record.
yeah, this is something I don't enjoy. Real organic stuff is usually crowded out by mass market. This happens even in politics etc. Bahamadia was breaking out just when Bad Boy etc were coming in and realizing they could make big money from the masses. Not that I didn't like the Eve's etc, but as a hip hop connoisseur in Kenya, I had to dig independently to find the Bahamadias. The Roots, Fugees etc broke out a bit internationally, but generally most of their type were crowded out. There's an artist from Detroit that I loved, called Mae Day. She's nice but totally unknown.
Got into a car accident trying to flip Bahamadia’s cassette bc True Honey Buns was on the other side of the cassette right after Spontenaity song ended. 😂. I still bump Kollage at least twice a week.
I can’t wait for this I’ve been waiting for one of the Bahamadia Preemo classics from Kollage a Hip Hop Classic Salute to the Philly Queen Bahamadia made our city proud 🔥🔥🔥
Bahamadia and CL Smooth would have been terror on a track. Either by Pete or Preem. They had the same cadence and vocal inflection. She is a legend forever and always. Philly stand up. And eternal blessings to the Queen.
Not to many know Bahamadia ...she was super DOPE...a Tru lyracism...from a different vein of woman MC...she was RAW and her mystique style was incredible
Seeing the video for this song instantly turns me 18 again and transports me back to freshman year in college. Great times. S/O to Premo, Bahamadia, Philly, and the Ohio Players. ;-)
Me and my dude Whiteboy John.. all day on repeat. He had the single with “unknowhowwedu”. He came for the instrumental but I convinced him to stay for the Song. Bahamadia voice was is so sultry and infectious🔥🔥🔥💪🏾💙 add that to that pounding drum and baseline. Instant vintage. Salute Bahamadia.
Premo is the greatest. In my opinion he’s probably the only producer that can work with anyone and make an entire album. This is my first time hearing this and it’s fire. Another gem.
I love all the back stories and stuff, but I wish premo would also breakdown how the actual song was constructed. From the choosing of the sample, to moments during the actual studio session! That would be soo dope!
You have know idea how much I love Bahamadia. I wish Premo did another full album with her like he did with Group Home. She is so dope. Kollage was a very good album.
Had the privilege of meeting and talking with this young queen a while back at the Gavin convention in ATL at a EMI show case, very down to earth, Premo thank you for posting this!!!
Yo, Bahamadia Collage album still hits. I still have the CD I bought from 1995-96. I play the whole album all the way through. 3 Da Hard Way, Tru Honey Bunz, You Know How we Do tracks still stays hard to me.
YESSSSSSS!!!!! Finally!!!! I am proud to say i bought the tape when it came out unfortunately i lost the tape..... But still got my 2 copies of the COLLAGE album on wax!!! .... and the 12" single on wax🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
love Bahamadia! "Fat like Joe when I swing it!" True Honey Buns is my favorite of the 3 you did, Preem. Can we PLEASE get a video for AZ - The Come Up?!
For me, Bahamadia is the dopest Lady to roc the mic. Her voice, flow, and whole approach has so much style. Love that Kollage album.👏🔥🎤 Respect to Primo and Bahamadia for these gems.🎤🔥💾 RIP GURU🔥🎤🔥 And as always, respect the Floppy Y’all. Peace.💾💾💾💾💾💾
Good choice for this one! Bahamadia is mad underrated and she's always one of my go-to's when ignorant ass fools try to say there's no good female rappers but the only female rappers they even know of are Nicki Minaj and Cardi B.
THANK YOU! This is one I’ve been waiting for. Love this song. Love this album. Personally, Bahamadia is my most favorite female rapper. This is one of the very few premier produced tracks without his signature cuts. And this song didn’t need them. The hook, the delivery, the sounds and the concept was PERFECT. Excellent episode!
This album made moving from up top to Atlanta with my parents easy. I bought this 💿 and Beats Rhymes and Life by ATCQ at Tower Records by Lenox Mall. Great memories. 3 tha hard way was 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you DJ Premier for this series. This man is the living embodiment of hip hop. People gotta check out Da 5 Footaz. They performed alongside Biggie, Snoop and the Dogg Pound, Wu Tang, Warren G and RUNDMC in 1995 in Philadelphia and those girls killed it. Check out their albums Lost Scrolls and Lifetime.
Loveeee Bahamadia. One of my favorites no question. Period. Full stop. Too many to name, really, but one of my favorites that comes to mind quick is Chaos ft Talib. Oh and also Be OK wit Rah Digga!!?! Shit son. Bahamadia is soooo underated by all but the real heads out here...

Probably the most underrated rapper in the world. Bahamadia represented though with that album.
No, she is NOT under rated. Yall really need to master english better. Under APPRECIATED is what you are looking for. Everybody that knows hiphop, says B's name in lists.
@@jonathansoko1085 U right!!!! Ppl that know her dont underrate
The best thing about this show is that DJ Premier has such an impressive catalog that we can be here for years discussing his classics.
YEARS!!!!!!
I was head nodding to a Pitch Black beat just yesterday. Preme that dude
Crazy how her voice and flow reminds me of a very young shyhieim (before his voice matured) east coast influence I guess
Speak!!!
Equally impressive is his memory, damn remembers everything and everyone.
I loved Bahamadia's music. It was smooth but still lyrical and she never had to sell herself to get recognition. A true gem in the 90s.
Bahamadia's album was a front to neck banger. Amazing album. One of m faborites
I feel Bahamadia was held back, because she didn’t have the commercial type “look” that the masses were coming to expect from women rappers at the time. The Kim’s, Foxy’s, Amil’s, Eve’s…Shame, she was an incredible talent. THB is a classic record.
I wonder how her flow would had been if she'd did some work-out with Jeru.
and from what i always heard she wasn't on that raunchy type music that the higher up's was going after.. That's a big damn shame..
@@TheIcpfan23 - Yeah. True honey buns was a shot at groupie type women. So yeah. She was all about the lyrics
