      Hi. I have a related question. In order to see the Multiplus on the Victron app, do I need the external USB device always connected to the multiplus? In fact, I see all Victron devices I have installed except the Multiplus 3000. Could there be any other reason for that? Thanks and regards.

    If these inverter chargers were designed correctly you should just be able to connect to them with Bluetooth and do this with your mobile phone, you can set up their DC to DC chargers from a phone through Bluetooth but these multipluses are expensive to buy and then you have to buy extra boxes at 200 quid a go in order to get them working!

      They do a version with the GX device inside (Multiplus 2 GX) for a all in one setup, think I still prefer separates in case something fails.

    These inverters are spec'd as 3000VA NOT 3000w. That's a difference of about 600w or so. 3000VA is about 2400w I believe

    • @CurrentConnected
      @CurrentConnected  2 года назад

      It depends on the power factor. At a power factor of 1, 3000va = 3000w (resistive loads)

    • @youtubemusic2700
      @youtubemusic2700 Год назад

      The resistance in a DC circuit is pure resistance, which is limited to the impedance (measured in ohms) of the conductor(s). Thus, watts are a good measure of “real power,” and if you have three 120 VDC devices calculated to work at 200 watts, 400 watts, and 600 watts respectively, then you can just add them linearly to know how much power the circuit requires, which would be 1200 watts (1.2 KW).
      In contrast, AC circuits also have inductive resistance, mostly caused by the build-up and collapse of the current with every 60 Hz excursion of the sinusoidal wave. This means that depending on their respective amperage requirements, three 120 VAC servers rated at 200 VA, 400 VA, and 600 VA respectively will not necessarily add up to 1200 VA (1.2 KVA). In sum, “volt amps” is a warning to proceed with caution.
      You created a very good video that I found very helpful, however, you cannot use watts and volt-amps interchangeably. You should use the term that Victron use to rate their inverter Volt-Amps

    Greetings. I'm wondering if you can explain the "Float" charge setting of 13.8, and how it actually works (or doesn't), when permantly hooked up to, as in my case, a pellet stove. I have my inverter/charger, with transfer switch, plugged into the wall at all times while hooked up to my lifep04 battery. So it just sits there activated and unused until, of course, the power goes off. Okay, so is this float charge active at all times? Can it do any harm, especially if the battery just sits there? I'm confused a bit on this matter.

    When I set my Multiplus absorption voltage above 14.2 my 150/85 smart solar MPPT goes into over voltage error when the multiplus is in absorption mode. RV Setup: Three 206ah SOK's with bluetooth bms, in parallel, Victron multiplus 12vdc 120 vac 3000va, Color GX, BMV-712, 150/85 MPPT, 100/50 MPPT. Float and battery full settings at 13.8 vdc. Max charge current set to 120 amps.
    After 1 hour initial multiplus absorption two batteries are just over 14v. One is 13.7v. The reason it goes over voltage above 14.2v is that a voltage spike occurs when the battery bms cmos shuts off. One of my solar charge controllers is sensitive to this and goes into the error condition shutting down. The battery bank does not completely fill from the multiplus at 14.2 absorption. I have the MPPT's absorption set to 14.8 so there is a chance it will fill and balance out when off shore power. Is there a solution.

    Why is it recommended to use more than one battery? Wouldn't the inverter load determine the total amp hours needed from the battery bank? Just trying to understand that recommendation

    • @CurrentConnected
      @CurrentConnected  2 года назад +2

      Yes, but in the case of the SOK battery, each battery may have plenty of capacity, but you can only discharge at a rate of 100a, which means approximately 1280w per battery (100a * 12.8v). This means to power a 3000w inverter, you need at least 3 batteries to meet the demand, otherwise you must derate the inverter to prevent overloading the batteries.

    • @CurrentConnected
      @CurrentConnected  2 года назад

      In my testing, if you fully charge / top-balance a cell at 3.65v, after resting for 24 hours the float voltage for a healthy cell is right at 3.45v. The thought process is that if this is the resting voltage, then if you float at a lower voltage, you are partially discharging the battery already, even though the charger function is on and operating.

      No, this is a VE.bus signal, not a ethernet network signal. you can only connect the VE.Bus to the victron devices. Each device has 2 ports, so you can daisy chain them.

    DO not charge LFP to 14.6 V or 13.8 float, U will kill LFP, LiC6 and LiFePO4 + LiPF6 + DMC + EC + EMC do not need such high voltages. And tell me what storage and working temps fo U have at cathode and anode of LFP.

      @@CurrentConnected Victron has the victron connect app for the MACs. Once you connect the USB dongle additional menu items show up that allow you to do the programing you see in this video. The layout is different, but everything talked about in this video is able to be set using a MAC, you do not need a windows VM. I just did this today.

    Victron's communication protocols are such a joke they have three different systems USB and their two proprietary delusionary connections.
    The fact that you can't just use a USB or a cat cable for everything to communicate which has been standard protocol for the last 30 years is just pathetic victron refuses to innovate just sticking with old outdated technology that just has other technology slapped on top of it that's why victron systems look like a a octopussy orgy with black and red tentacles not to mention their non-ul approved electrical connections on their equipment which has caused many issues but yet they refuse to acknowledge it.
    And pass it off as the user air their own information contradicts itself between their manuals and their website.

    • @Bonaventure2AK
      @Bonaventure2AK Год назад

      I totally agree. I've seen videos where victron people don't understand all the protocols. Would have gone with another manufacturer if I had realized the connection mess.
