  • In our new video we reveal a 🗣️unique and amazing way to refurbish old batteries for portable tools such as screwdrivers. This method will not only help save your family budget, but will also play an important role in protecting the environment by reducing the amount of e-waste.
    How the method works ❗️
    Over time, tool batteries lose their ability to hold a charge due to inevitable chemical changes inside. However, if you have an old battery that no longer holds a charge and a fully charged, working battery, you can try reconditioning them. Connecting the two batteries will help rebalance the charge, which will temporarily restore the old battery's functionality.
    Step-by-step recovery instructions❗️
    1. Take an old faulty battery and a fully charged working one.
    2. Connect them together using wires, observing the polarity: plus to plus, minus to minus.
    3. Leave the batteries connected for a few minutes to an hour to allow the charge to flow from charged to discharged.
    Why does this method work?❗️
    When two batteries are connected, charge begins to flow from the more charged to the less charged. This helps restore the chemical balance inside the old battery, increasing its ability to hold a charge.
    Important precautions:❗️
    - Be careful: this method can be dangerous. Failure to do so may result in a short circuit or damage to the battery.
    - Use protective gloves and goggles to ensure safety.
    - Before starting work, check that the batteries are compatible in voltage and type.❗️🗣️

    *There is no problem if we proceed like this: give the batteries to a friend, tell them what needs to be done at place, then call them the next day to see if it worked. If they don't answer, or if a fire alarm is audible, then it did not work And finally, we can thank them for avoiding the problem at our place.*

    Thanks for the tip! Good to know ! I have a battery that refuses to charge, I'm going to try to bring it back to life in the same way !
    But this is troubleshooting, you will have to change the battery of the drill. If it can no longer charge, it is at the end of its life, its battery life will be short, and the same problem will return.
    In any case, with this tip, it allows you to continue using your drill while you buy a new battery. It's expensive depending on the brand, so this tip allows you to give yourself time to save money.
    🤠🖖

    Why do you think deeply discharged lithium batteries are no longer charged by intelligent chargers? With your method you have: bypassed the safety circuit, no current limitation via the car battery, a battery that is reactivated at short term. In return, you get a weak battery with reduced capacity and current output (internal resistance increased). The cause of the failure, in over 90% an unbalance between the cells, was not eliminated.
    If you are already using a car battery, leave the lamp in the circuit as a limitation or use a laboratory power supply with a current limiter. From a safety perspective, this is still a big problem.

      I can never get this method to work on older Craftsman 19.2 volt batteries.

    • @wernerpeter9706
      @wernerpeter9706 4 месяца назад

      @@MikeOrazzi Your 19.2V battery probably works with NiMh technology. There are 16 cells connected in series and some of them have probably already been polarized backwards. You can dispose of the battery and buy a new one or, better yet, buy a newer model. Apart from that, this method is extremely dubious, because with a 24V Li battery the voltage of the lead battery is too low and with an 18V Li battery it is at least borderline. If the Li battery has an internal protection module, it doesn't work anyway.

    • @MikeOrazzi
      @MikeOrazzi 4 месяца назад

      @@wernerpeter9706 I gave up on the NiMh versions, but I do have a few lithium ion versions that won't take a charge. The ones that do work get rotated on the chargers when I think about it. I did buy an adapter that lets me use the new 20 volt batteries with my old 19.2 volt tools. So that thing is cool. I'm done buying the 19.2 batteries. Craftsman doesn't make them anymore. The China versions don't seem as good.

      @@MikeOrazzi When a Li battery is deeply discharged, processes begin that irreversibly change the cell chemistry. Chargers and/or batteries therefore have a protective circuit. It is unwise to avoid these. Normally the battery “only” loses capacity, no longer delivers such high currents and may have a higher self-discharge. Sometimes, but really very rarely, they get an internal short circuit that generates a lot of heat. This can happen immediately or many weeks later.
      I don't know of a charging adapter that switches from NiMh to Li-Ion or Li-Po. There are two completely different charging methods.

    Das sind dann die Akkus, welche man hier auf RUclips spektakulär brennen sieht. Das tun die dann irgendwann in der Garage oder im Keller und nehmen schlimmstenfalls das ganze Haus mit. Kauft euch lieber neue Akkus. Die sind billiger als ein Auto, Haus oder das Leben.
