  • #BoyInABoxTrial - Sentencing - Tim Ferriter was convicted of aggravated child abuse, false imprisonment, and child neglect in connection with keeping his adopted teen son confined to an 8X8 windowless room, with a bucket for a toilet, that had been built in the garage.
Ferriter faces up to 40 years in prison for aggravated child abuse, a first-degree felony. Prosecutors offered Timothy a plea agreement that would have sent him to jail for 24 months, but he rejected it in the days leading up to the trial.
Timothy Ferriter was indicted, along with his wife, Tracey Ferriter, in March 2022 on charges of aggravated child abuse and false imprisonment in Jupiter, Florida.

There doesn’t appear to be love nor a shred of remorse coming from Tim for his son, only toward his other children. Got rejected or refused admittance to some secure facilities meant to deal with behavior like his because of behavior these facilities decided THEY could not handle. That came out in the preliminary hearing, though the judge denied it as evidence at trial because it would be "trying the victim". In other words, the child got locked up anyway because of his behavior. With no private schools to go to, no AP classes, track team or chess club, no family or prospect of one now. Those parents had tried to give him a normal life, private schools and opportunities. Parents that have kids with RAD have sometimes been forced to either lock themselves in at night, or lock their kids in at night because of the danger these kids can represent. In this case, given they had other children they apparently were afraid they could not protect, they locked the RAD kid up. He still went to school during the day, and had opportunities (track team, martial arts, chess club) until his behavior was such that his parents could not trust him. I'm not saying the parents were not abusive in some respects. But there was a reason for their locking him up. And he admitted himself he "Broke the rules at least five times a day or oftener" to provoke his parents. I wish we could have heard all the evidence. And I wish the family had been given proper mental health help for all of them, rather than this criminal outcome. Because the kid is locked up anyway. No more private schools, siblings or family. And the rest of the family is destroyed. Mental health issues like RAD take a toll on families, and they all needed help, not criminal actions. Before you say "oh the kid should not have been locked up, consider what he was allegedly doing and where he is now. It's been said before that parents of RAD kids get criminal consequences for actions the state turns right around and imposes on the RAD kids because of the same behavior.

I need help understanding the leniency (yes, this is lenient IMO). During this man’s speech all he did was talk about woe is me, I’m being beat up, I’m getting my heat beat in!! All his supporters there talking about how wonderful he is and he’s a kind soul! Judge saying he’s amazed of the turn out of support!! Also, how he grew up at an army base.
WHAT ABOUT THE REASON THEY ARE THERE JUDGE!!
I’ll go in order as I typed them up!
During Tim’s speech he NEVER once said he was sorry for his actions, never talked about self-reflection, never talked about his ill treatment of RF, even after RF got up there and said he loved his dad, he made a mistake, Tim never apologized!
NEXT his crying about being beat up in jail…too bad buddy, for him to even whine about this showed he is nothing but a BULLY and has no idea how to reflect on his behavior!
NEXT, the support that showed up for Tim, what about the support for RF???? where were his supporters?? If Tim had all this support why did he willingly, knowingly have a box build for his son! Support means you have people you can rely on and talk things through! BS!!
NEXT, the point the judge made about growing up on a marine base and he suspects that’s where he got a lot of his parenting skills from, I WHOLEHEARTEDLY DISAGREE SIR! Tim did not treat ALL his kids this way, only RF so your theory is unfounded and simply wrong! Judge only saw what he wanted to see ! If it were true that Tim disciplined with an iron fist, there would be four boxes built, not just one! Tim singled out RF! Probably disliked him because RF was smarter than him!!
LASTLY, judge. I really believed you would make the right decision and give him more time. This monster knew what he was doing and thought he would continue to get away with it! RF would still be in that box if Tim never got caught! RF’s two sisters told you the story and you chose to give him a lighter sentence! I’m shocked, I’m disgusted in our judicial system!
Not sure if anyone saw but Tim had a smirk once he saw it was 60 months, so that tells me it was all an act! I bet him coming into court shaking, looking like a beaten, battered poor soul was All an act!!
Judge you even said, from the evidence you saw you basically saw a child acting like a normal child. This whole case from the defense’s perspective was this kid was a monster, but you said otherwise! Then you only give Tim 60 months!?!? Help me understand that!
Sorry for my long comment, but I’m befuddled and needed to get this out of my head…

@@SunnyDays70s He didn't allow a lot of that evidence in, did he? Said it was "Trying the victim" to do so. According to the testimony I did hear, RF took a boxcutter and a screwdriver to school and threatened others with them, collected knives, hit the family dogs with his bike, reportedly broke a family member's bones, stole electronics and credit cards, held other kids underwater, bashed his baby brother's face in "playing rough" with his bike, and according to his own testimony, gave his baby brother alcohol as an experiment. When he was asked in testimony whether that couldn't be dangerous to a toddler, he said "that was the experiment". Very coldly too. This kind of behavior was one of the reasons why his parents were nervous about him around the other kids when he could not be watched. He also said he deliberately broke the rules at least "five times a day" to get a rise out of his parents. At a pre-trial hearing, when his parents were trying to get some of his behavior, pre and post the parents' arrest in, as a defense, the prosecution objected. It came out that he was "Baker Acted" post the parents arrest, and put in a secure facility for being a danger to himself and/or others for some of the behavior the parents were dealing with. And then was bounced (rejected) from some secure facilities for behavior THEY couldn't handle. The judge disallowed that evidence too. So I got it from the trial itself, or pre trial hearings, either from law and crime or court tv. I'm not excusing the parents' behavior. The lack of light and air I consider cruelty. OTOH, RF probably did have RAD, according to some of the medical testimony, which can be extremely difficult to deal with. Don't call it misinformation, when its clear you either didn't watch the trial, or you have a selective memory.

Well at least is cellmates arent taking it as low ligitly as the judge seemed to with that verdict. He might not oast that long.
That goes to show you what money, power and the privileged life gets you. I saw the sentencing except the decision. I didnt think his lawyer did a good job. It's a shame what these peoplr people get away with.
I doubt the wife will get any time.
