Scott, one thing I have always liked about your videos of the garden is they are "real" to life. Some other channels have well groomed gardens, perfect wood in their raised beds, weed free, every blade of grass next to the garden trimmed precisely and uniformly, spotless leaves, and not an insect within a 1/2 mile, etc.... Nobody I know has a garden like that. They (and I) have "real" to life gardens. We have weeds, sometimes the grass is higher than we would like, the raised bed wood is past needing to be replaced (but it still works) and we have pests and disease sneak in as well. But that is how gardening and nature works! I would watch video's like yours any day!!!!! (and do whenever you post one)
I enjoyed hearing you when you found the Thai chilies you sounded like I feel when I see my first tomatoes or those turnips as I wait long enough to pick. I love that God created gardening and gardeners the seeds of hope.
I have to thank you, Scott, for the big pending harvest on my young Pink Lady apple. For 2 years I only had 4 apples on the tree but this year, thanks to your advice to tie down the branches to be more horizontal, I have maybe 30 little apples! I'm so pleased!
love the fruit trees....I have blackberries, blueberries and strawberries in my Zone 8a Central Arkansas garden. These are "garden candy" during my daily garden walkabouts. The joys of gardening.
Great tour! It seems like this is the year for a lot of issues with gardening. My hubby fractured his back at work so he has been off since March 10th. He has helped with our garden as much as he can but at his age he can only do so much, bless his heart. I will be 63 in August and he will be 76 in July so it way past time for him to retire. Hope things get better for you and your family. God bless. TFS 🙏👍
Hope life settles in to a good place for you soon. To be honest, I didn't notice you've been posting less, because I've been so busy in the garden I don't have time to watch videos! I wait for Sundays, and spend the afternoon of my day of rest watching all of the videos on all of the channels I subscribe to, and it takes a good portion of that afternoon. Always a pleasure to tour your food production areas...be sure to give Phoebe extra pets from all of your subscribers.
Here in southern WV. We are having cold snap and everything is behind. This my first year doing this raised bed and containers. Very discouraging. Never been a garden here in this property and the insect pressure is unreal. It like the insects have said. THANK YOU SO MUCH. GRRRR. Companion planting will help me I hope. Soon as the companions come out of the cold snap slump. Actually been using essential oil on wood in raised beds and believe it or not. It has helped.
Love seeing your garden! Your apples look great! Don't worry about the amount of content. Life has a way of going through seasons of difficulties and unforseen surprises. I enjoy seeing an honest garden going through these seasons. God bless!
Yep, tomatoes, squash, cucumbers all done. Putting in second planting of purple hulls and first of black eyes, butter peas, zippers. Okra doing great, had second eating. Should be around till cold weather. Planning out new area 100x50. Hoping to have ready for fall plantings. Love your updates. Thanks.
Its interesting because here in zone 6a/b we have had unseasonably cool weather, with no rain. My tomatoes are only ancle high due to the cool weather. They are stunted. I grew them from seed and they aren't much bigger then when I planted. And they were leggy then. I buried them as I always do. But, they haven't grown much at all since mid May. No heat.
Sorry that you have been unable to give your garden the attention you want to. Whatever is going on, you'll get another chance next year. Thanks for showing the apple trees. We just planted some this year, some bare root and some more developed from home depot. How many years have you had yours?
Hi Scott. I freeze my leek and it does well. My tomatoes are slowing down as well. Some of my musk melon is growing up a trellis and I am wondering if the vine will support the Mellon. Have a great night.
Congrats on your garden harvest. This has been a tough garden year for me I wasn’t able to start anything by seed due to injury and had to buy starts, however I had a happy blessing with some friends willing to help me plant the starts and I’m guiding them in their garden journey. When we went to plant another happy blessing was one tomato apparently self seeded and I had one growing about a foot tall. I’m excited to see what variety it was.
Looking good tho! Gonna be July probably before any tomatoes for me :( oh i am so impatient lol we are having the rain though in GA which is good. I've not really had to water them much myself and I'm late planting. Should have planted them in early May. This is my first time. I'm excited.
The nursery I bought from doesn't sell in the US anymore. Check out my list of heat tolerant apples here: docs.google.com/document/d/1QrMwMvlUHIZTfRK5B_kNkUGkNP-jNpKA5OM5Am3RcAo/edit?usp=sharing Then shop at this excellent nursery: www.centuryfarmorchards.com/
We appreciate every time you get a chance to share with us.
Blessings!
Pro tip --- Angle the plate, bowl, container sideways and the cilantro seeds will just roll to the bottom while the stems and leaves stay at the top.
The apple sounded soo crunchy! Made my mouth water! Awesome apple trees!
Ooooh those bags might protect my artichokes from bugs!

I harvested tons of coriander seeds from volunteers this year and I’m happy.
I have been learning a lot watching your show. Thank you Scott.

Always love your videos Scott. Thank you!
Your garden looks don't forget do pet Phoebe for me and tell her hello
You do what videos you can. Sometimes lots, other times not so much.... that's life ;)
Love your podcast I’m in cypress suburb of Houston…. 😊😊
If your apples aren't up to par taste-wise make vinegar out of them.
Thank you for the tour loved it
Congratulations on your apples!
I've used organza bags on tomatoes too. It doesn't keep out everything but certainly a deterrent to squirrels and birds.
Birds take one or two pecks and then move to another one to see if they like it better.
Thank you for showing the apple varieties. I had no idea they'd grow in zone 9a. I'm in NE Florida and have some new garden ideas!

I should have used organza bags on my apples this year. We had the biggest crop yet but the birds and bugs have also really enjoyed them, lol.

Thanks for the info about the bags. I never know what to do to stop all the critters from eating my apples.
Scott trimkasih sudah shering Vidio..memang lebih bagus kuta mengunakan tas organza..antispasi hama.
Salam buat temen online saya dari 🇮🇩🤝🤗

They are on year three, bare root with grafted scion wood.
I used the bags on my prize Cherokee Purple tomatoes courtesy of Craig LeHoullier. They work great, keeps off the bugs and critters .
