  • 네 (“yes”) has many more meanings and uses - the same goes for the casual version of 네 which is 응 (or 어). It can also mean “no” when used to answer a question ending in a negative verb. It can be used to mean “goodbye” at the end of a phone call, “I understand,” as well as “what?” and many more uses.

In french, if someone asks you a negative question, whether you respond "oui" (네) or "non" (아니요) you confirm the negation in both cases.

Woah, Billy! That sure was a lot of 네 😂
Loved it, was fun to watch. I picked most of them from kdramas, but kshows seem more genuine of course. My favourite is a rude 네~네😅😅😅

Your explanations are always so great and easy to follow! 🙌🏻 네 is definitely a powerful word! 😃 I like doing the sarcastic “네~~~ 네~~~” to tease by pretending to agree or acknowledge but actually cutting off the other person like “okay enough”. (The newly coined 뉘예뉘예) 🤣

Your videos are helping me a lot and i always come back to them if there is anything that i don´t understand from my textbooks=)
I was wondering, if maybe you could make a video about the Lost Vowel that you
mentioned at the end of your third textbook?
That would be awesome, because i would really like to learn how to pronounce it and i would like to learn a bit more about it in general=)

I came because I’m scared of 네 as no... which I knew about but never seem to notice it in conversation. I was hoping to get hints on ways to remember to say yes (or 네) instead of the english no. I guess it’s all about getting my head into Korean headspace instead of english-translated to korean-words-and-grammar.
And thanks for the reminder to use 네 instead of 여보세요 when I answer calls from K-friends, cos I was doing the wrong thing. And 네? as goodbye cos we frequently stumble a bit with ending the call.
