It's just not worth the debt. I come from a family of Mexican immigrants who originally came here illegally, and I can tell you, 99% of my family (aunt's, uncle's, cousins, family friends) came through the "front door". So really, the wall would be very ineffective. I do have 1 family member that crossed the river with a Coyote because of time concerns, but otherwise, he was planning on crossing the legal border too. I'm sure there's better use for that money elsewhere.
@Fred Gathers it's not that immigrants think they're above the law or deserve some kind of pass, it's that current immigration laws aren't enforced, so that's why some immigrants get away with being here illegally. For example, if they overstay their visa, there's no officer that comes looking for them. They get to stay here as long as they lay low, which they usually always do (the majority are just hard working ppl making under $35k/yr, trying to provide for their family's future). And they're able to get jobs because corrupt companies looking to take advantage of them hire them at lower wages so they can profit. Like another comment on here said, if we didn't give them jobs, they wouldn't come.

I'm sure that number has changed, and not to mention their economical contributions (cheap labor/production towards cheaper pricing of goods). Most illegal immigrants could only get low wage jobs, but since DACA was introduced in 2012, it has allowed many young people to continue school and get higher paying jobs they otherwise couldn't. So now they're contributing more taxes. I'm not saying they're not costing money, but a wall wouldn't do much. That money should be going into other resources.

Why is securing our borders even an issue anyone needs to argue about? protecting our nation and the people should always be a major priority. I'm not against immigration, immigration is good and helped build our nation, I'm against illegal immigration. When the wall gets built we should use prison labor from nonviolent offenders to help with construction labor and lets them earn time off of their sentences, which will help reduce overcrowding in prisons. We have thousands of national guard soldiers currently not doing anything and can and should already be protecting our borders.

So it is already working. The more that goes up and stands in the way, the less ground boarder patrols has to patrol. Making it easier to find them while, forcing them to go through more inhospitable areas. In those inhospitable areas, more thermal cameras and motion sensors will be put in place. If our special forces can't scale the wall they picked out, how will illegal immigrants and smugglers get past? The only way is by tunneling below the wall that goes 5ft down. Only the cartels will be able to afford to do that. And we have technology to detect such operations.

It's just not worth the debt. I come from a family of Mexican immigrants who originally came here illegally, and I can tell you, 99% of my family (aunt's, uncle's, cousins, family friends) came through the "front door". So really, the wall would be very ineffective. I do have 1 family member that crossed the river with a Coyote because of time concerns, but otherwise, he was planning on crossing the legal border too. I'm sure there's better use for that money elsewhere.
@Fred Gathers it's not that immigrants think they're above the law or deserve some kind of pass, it's that current immigration laws aren't enforced, so that's why some immigrants get away with being here illegally. For example, if they overstay their visa, there's no officer that comes looking for them. They get to stay here as long as they lay low, which they usually always do (the majority are just hard working ppl making under $35k/yr, trying to provide for their family's future).
And they're able to get jobs because corrupt companies looking to take advantage of them hire them at lower wages so they can profit. Like another comment on here said, if we didn't give them jobs, they wouldn't come.

I'm sure that number has changed, and not to mention their economical contributions (cheap labor/production towards cheaper pricing of goods). Most illegal immigrants could only get low wage jobs, but since DACA was introduced in 2012, it has allowed many young people to continue school and get higher paying jobs they otherwise couldn't. So now they're contributing more taxes. I'm not saying they're not costing money, but a wall wouldn't do much. That money should be going into other resources.

Why is securing our borders even an issue anyone needs to argue about? protecting our nation and the people should always be a major priority. I'm not against immigration, immigration is good and helped build our nation, I'm against illegal immigration. When the wall gets built we should use prison labor from nonviolent offenders to help with construction labor and lets them earn time off of their sentences, which will help reduce overcrowding in prisons. you know if they Build The Wall properly and make it 55 feet wide they could put commuter trains in the wall and also run water lines from the ocean and fill up the dry Lakes throughout
and if all of the states pitching in to pay and build some water processing plants in California and in Texas they could pump fresh water into these dried-up Lakes and all those small little towns that are dying around the borders could be stop off points to the commuter trains bringing those dead towns back to life moving huge populations out of dense populated cities into ghost towns.
the water purifying plants I'm talking about are the ones that have the water filters that are so small and porous that it'll pull salt , oil , gold , silver , Platinum and either Rare Earth particles it can also filter out Mexico's human feces that they pump in to the ocean. I believe the price tag on a plant that size is $ 1.8 billion dollars. and all the rare earth minerals that they pumped out and filter will end up paying for the water purifying plant in the long run.
and if you were to put on top of the wall a large open walk paths on top of the border wall you could have it like the Great Wall of China where people could walk from California to Texas. it would wind up being like a national park where people would want to go. and you figure a million people times $25 ahead every month that pays that wall off pretty quickly and and they would be deputized to be border agents while they're up on the wall basically free labor free patriotism protecting your country and it would be fun and they could stop off in those ghost towns that could be repopulated and have a very flourishing and very popular southern border wall that would be a tourist Mecca and the tourism alone would pay the debt off of a wall and less than 40 years. it is possible because what you got the wall built you put a bid in for the Olympics and you build the stadiums near the border that's over 500 million people right there.

While I was there I had learned what the true purpose and plans are of the illegal and legal immigrants coming into our country I have heard with my own ears but they are planning. What I heard was this we plan to take over the state of California and claim it for Mexico our plan is to get as many Mexicans and South Americans to swarm into the state of California and Texas and reclaim it as Mexico. Now I know it won't work because the only thing that that would cause would be that we would stand in the army kill anyone trying to kill us and Deport everyone that was Mexican or South American descent and was guilty of collaborating with the Enemy. So this idea is futile but nonetheless it is happening. Here's my prediction of the next 20 years president Trump will get a reelected in 2020 in 2024 because he done a great job vice president will become president because the people will be hoping that he will continue the good work that Donald Trump has done and for the next four years everything will be the same and then they will nominate a Democrat socialist president that will weaken our country to the point where our enemies will destroy us from within and some without.
