I just happened upon this jewel and have watched in a dozen times, laughing hysterically each time. What a moment in time and Gene Rayburn was absolutely hysterical.
From Wikipedia: In the mid 1970s, Flagg had a relationship with American writer Rita Mae Brown, whom she met at a party in the Hollywood Hills hosted by Marlo Thomas. The couple briefly shared a house together in Charlottesville, Virginia, before splitting. According to Brown, Flagg also lived for eight years with former The Bold and the Beautiful actress Susan Flannery.
Crystal, I was doing some reading on Wikipedia and it said she was in a few relationships with Women! I have to say that she was a beautiful woman back then!
My lady boss gave me that same finger gesture once as she looked straight at me from her office to my desk. Oh, man, the things that ran through my mind.
I watch every episode of this show that I can find. My Mom loved Match Game and we had so many happy times together watching and guessing the answers. This clip was so wonderful ! LOL
This is still one of my all-time favorite show. It's a game and variety show at the same time. I could not wait to go home from school and watch it on my small color TV back in the 1970's, when I was growing up in Chicago. I still miss it and those wonderful celebrities. It is just so sad, so may of them have passed away. ;)
Me too. And I was born in Chicago and grew up in Schaumburg. 🤓 I’m watching the reruns now on the Buzzr channel. 🤷🏻♀️ I need a laugh in these times...I just watched this episode tonight and was happy to find this clip on RUclips. Fannie is still alive, but yes, most of them have passed away.
Sadly, there are not many left. A wonderful show. Radar and Fanny are the only two I can think of that are still with us. A lot of beautiful faces were on this show
Fannie was actually my favorite panelist in that spot, even over Betty White. I thought she was hilarious. This clip is a good example of it. Actually several examples!
This clip was very entertaining. I should come to it whenever I need a good laugh! Charles and Brett must have enjoyed it, too, for someone else was carrying the show.
@cap3B That was you? How exciting to be able to tell you how much fun it was to watch this clip! You may not have felt it at the time (as you said) but you sure looked like a natural up there. Thanks for brightening my day!
the original was never serious about any topic except winning some money. No politics. No religion. Just fun and laughs. I was too young to understand some of the humor or innuendos, but yrs later the show was just that more hilarious and Gene Rayburn was a class act.
@@cherylroberts3569 Fannie Flagg was not married to gay actor Dick Sargent. However, they did appear together as a team on Tattletales, which may be where your assumption that they were straight and married came from.
I loved this game show when I was growing up in the 70's. Fannie Flagg was my favorite. I don't care if she is lesbian. I thought she was hot stuff. Loved her on this show. Thanks for posting this gem from the past.
great game show..how much would u have to pay all these stars today if they did this?? besides they enjoyed what they did and had the personality and genuinely had fun!!!
You couldnt get chemistry like this easily! This was such a 1 of a kind show . my favoritw part was when the box broke and gene had to hit it to switch questions... You can't plan things like that lol
That show was such fun! It was like the panel was having a cocktail party, the way they played around. A show like that could only happen in the 70s. 😁
Those were the days.
I loved that show. Humor without vulgarity.
The comebacks. The camaraderie. Classic.
Thank you for posting.
What's sad is I'm not sure it would make it on air if they had this much fun on a game show today.
Fannie Flagg - a fantastic panelist with a great sense of humour and a heart of gold to match.
this is why this show was so much fun!...Gene and the "gang" just had fun with it...and got away with alot!...miss it!
I love when she says bomb then crooks her finger at him, then Ron does that little kid 'aww shucks' move....very funny
Fannie Flagg was not only beautiful but she was very generous, a very giving kind human being ✨
And she gave us the book Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe.
From a Great era of 📺. Today's shows are goat 🐐 tripe 😆
Yeah, Fannie WAS a dish!
Indubitably ☺️
Present tense: She is all these things.
I love watching Match Game and your Dad was so sweet to Fannie.
Man, this is good stuff. They don't make shows like this anymore. You can tell they were genuinely having a good time.
This was my laugh of the week! Absolutely brilliant and its humor is still relevant 48 years later.
I just happened upon this jewel and have watched in a dozen times, laughing hysterically each time. What a moment in time and Gene Rayburn was absolutely hysterical.
One of the best Match Game moments ever!
I bet filming this show was A LOT of fun! How could you not kinda fall in love with Fannie?!
I think what tickled me was Ethel Merman's laughing. You could tell she was really having a great time on the show.
This show was so much damn fun!
Classic moments. What a great era for TV. Those shows are needed today. Bring games shows back to daytime TV.
LOVE hearing Ethel Merman's great laugh in this clip!
Gotta love when the contestants get in on the fun.

The young guy taking off his coat was hilarious.
He certainly looked to be up for it.😂
Fannie Flagg was BANGIN back in the day.....and her sense of humor on MG was smart and sexy too
I always thought Fannie was so beautiful.
You, me and every red blooded male on this planet.
crystalheart9 I
you don't want to see her now.
Crystal, I was doing some reading on Wikipedia and it said she was in a few relationships with Women! I have to say that she was a beautiful woman back then!
from what I've read, her sexual preference was women.
I love this clip with Fannie Flagg. It makes my day. I couldn't stop laughing.
I like the way she batted her eyelashes at him too. It was fake as hell, but it was still hilarious.
I LOVED this show when I was a kid. I still catch it on Game Show Network. I wish it was out on DVD.
I loved her "c'mere, big boy" finger gesture. :)
My lady boss gave me that same finger gesture once as she looked straight at me from her office to my desk. Oh, man, the things that ran through my mind.
No, more like, "Come here, little boy. I'll be gentle!"
Oh how much I love this clip.
It's only superseded by how much I love this show!
"COMMERCIAL! COMMERCIAL! GO TO BLACK! GO TO BLAAAAAAAAAAAACK! FADE! FADE! FAAAAAAAAAAADE!"
Hahaha! This is epic!
He was gorgeous. I watched those episodes recently
😂😂😂
I can watch this episode over and over again. So funny!!
I watch every episode of this show that I can find. My Mom loved Match Game and we had so many happy times together watching and guessing the answers. This clip was so wonderful ! LOL
I just watched this on Buzzr and i can't blame Fannie at all. Ron was a real cutie pie!
This is still one of my all-time favorite show. It's a game and variety show at the same time. As a child of the '70s I had a huge crush on Fannie...here it is almost 2014 and nothing has changed.
One of my favorite Match Game moments. Fannie (& Betty White) are always amusing when they're on, but this clip is more than hilarious.
Just saw this episode tonight, so much fun. Fannie was adorable and that contestant was very handsome.
I miss how tv shows used to be!
A lot better than today's version.
I love Fannie and she's one of the only regulars still alive
Sadly, there are not many left. A wonderful show. Radar and Fanny are the only two I can think of that are still with us. A lot of beautiful faces were on this show
And Joyce Bulifant... 85 years old.. And Elaine Joyce... 77 years old.
This is one of my favorite scenes on the show
He was my gym teacher!! You shoulda seen him in gym shorts!!!
Did you ever see him in the shower room? Lol
The coach was a hot dude without doubt. If he'd been mine, I wouldn't have cheesed out of gym with Dr notes!
This was one of the funniest things ever on tv. I wish shows were still this good.
This clip was gold! Fannie had those eyes going. That next kiss was going to be some kind of special.
Fannie was actually my favorite panelist in that spot, even over Betty White. I thought she was hilarious. This clip is a good example of it. Actually several examples!
One of my favorite game shows since they had so much fun.
This is my favorite Match Game clip!
The real truth is there are great shows that are exciting, and smart on today!
Match Game was always silly fun, and great to play along with!
Great stuff....just found out about this show the other day and now I watch it before bed...helps me relax and have a good night sleep...
LOL Ethel Merman laughing hysterically.
I saw this clip for the first time ever loved it❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😊😊😊😊😊
that was incredibly hilarious. i love how the contestant played along with it too!
Funny--this was on a couple of weeks ago. Effin' priceless!
Probably one of the funniest moments in game show history.
I was a teenager in the 70s and miss this type programming. Times were simpler
One of my all time favorite moments in TV back in the 1970's growing up !! LOL!!

I LOVED this show! We need more like this ... this is when TV was great.
The best Game Show in history. Period.

Great clip! Loved this series as a kid, along with The Gong Show ;)
This show was so fun!
Ethyl Merman was cracking up, this is so precious.
Oh my god - I love Fannie!
HILARIOUS!!!! This was the BEST game show!
This clip was very entertaining. I should come to it whenever I need a good laugh! Charles and Brett must have enjoyed it, too, for someone else was carrying the show.
He is smoking Hot and Fannie was so ready to jump him. I was laughing out loud hilarious!!
This is my favorite game show I still watch it it comes on 32.3 buzzer
She had a secondary role in "Five Easy Pieces" with Jack Nicholon. Great movie!
"OK if I put my arm around you?" Shakes head no. Something about that just made me laugh, I don't know why.
Love this show!❤️
As Allen Ludden said, this show's bananas!
Damn, he's gorgeous!
Gene Rayburn one of the great game show hosts. Watch the original MG on NBC
in the 60’s with GR as host.
The original from the 1960s is boring as hell by comparison.
I sure would have loved trying to make Fannie switch teams.
Loved them all!!
I LOVE IT!!!! THIS IS GREAT!!! GOTTA LOVE FANNY!!!!
Loved watching when school was closed for snow day, Holidaze, teachers strike, summer vacation, etc.
@cap3B That was you? How exciting to be able to tell you how much fun it was to watch this clip! You may not have felt it at the time (as you said) but you sure looked like a natural up there. Thanks for brightening my day!

Gotta love these two
One of my favs!
I remember watching this episode with my grandmother when it first aired. Then I found out recently that Fannie liked women.
Fannie is a national treasure. ❤
He is quite the hunk & a definite cutie. I can see the why the ladies would melt.
some of the men as well!
@@sekinsocalI would!
The best episode bar none.
Saw this just the other day on GSN. So funny!!
Fannie Flagg was never straight or bisexual. She's a lesbian. But she's also a comedienne so she was just acting up on this show.
She was married to the guy from bewitched not Dick York but the Darren after him
@@cherylroberts3569 Fannie Flagg was not married to gay actor Dick Sargent. However, they did appear together as a team on Tattletales, which may be where your assumption that they were straight and married came from.
Oh the 70’s! That was hilarious when it happened. Glad to see it again!
0:14 Ron is like, "I don't think so, Gene..."
I loved this game show when I was growing up in the 70's. Fannie Flagg was my favorite. I don't care if she is lesbian. I thought she was hot stuff. Loved her on this show. Thanks for posting this gem from the past.
She's an accomplished author of many, many books. She also had a little "doodle" with Rita Mae Brown.
THAT WAS GOOD "Fannie has always been my crush, even to this day every time she's on MATCH GAME I fantasize bout her" SHE'S SO BEAUTIFUL👍👍👍👍👍
great game show..how much would u have to pay all these stars today if they did this?? besides they enjoyed what they did and had the personality and genuinely had fun!!!
Fannie's got it going on.
You couldnt get chemistry like this easily! This was such a 1 of a kind show . my favoritw part was when the box broke and gene had to hit it to switch questions... You can't plan things like that lol

this was the best show EVAR!!!
peace, lardo.
Great show. So many stars on it.
I tell ya those were the best times on Match game in the seventies. Don't make em like that anymore. Match game was the best game show on.
Hilarious! Enjoyed very much, thanks!
God I love this show.
Classic clip and I choked on my soda laughing so hard....
