We finally got around to taking our Supercharged GMC over to the drag strip and after a shaky start, we got it ripping! Sadly we did blow an engine today, but luckily it wan't on the red truck!

@@ronathan3569that motor can make 1500, motor wise, it is much more capable to be an 8 sec truck than the f150 even is. Add another 10 psi to that 427 and with the right suspension it will 1000% go 8s. Cleet needs to just get the FRE sleeved long block they are making 2k hp on, he will at some point
All it needs is shocks and it will go 9.7. f150 will run that right off the lot.
When George said RAM doesn't make anything fast, I went and gave my Srt-10 a hug and told it everything is gonna be ok.

@@chrisryanh3758300k is way more than they make for sure. If that was the case all of them would have brand new modded out vehicles. But instead most of them have 15-20 year old daily drivers. I would say that most of the guys are getting 70-90k just on salary's and another 30-40k on merch sales... rough estimate.

Honestly I would imagine it would be a pretty straightforward build, at least on the hardware side. There's certainly a number of recipes for G3 Hemi builds, the ZF 8-spd is a proven beast of a trans like the Ford-GM 10-spd, CalTracs of course. I'm not into that into the Mopar stuff so I don't know if they're still an electrical/tuning headache at this point(I would hope we've gotten them down by now lol, the factory ECUs were a nightmare for years), I don't know if there would be any headaches there. But, hardware, they could probably throw one together pretty quickly if they wanted the trifecta in the fleet.
edit: oh shit, I forgot - no CalTracs here, them things are coil sprung now! I wonder if they could make it launch better than the leaf sprung trucks...

Nah, like they said lol they don’t make anything reliable! You’d have to do a full roller chassis and just set the dodge cab back on top….otherwise you’d just be in a screaming metal death trap….until catastrophic failure hurt someone. You can turn something as garbage as a RAM into something as nice as either of these trucks are. It’s just not possible with what your starting with.
I gotta give it to Cleetus, the channel is really evolving! These latest long format videos really have improved on the general level and quality of the content. It's a higher intensity level that takes us through more progress and less wait. I'd love to see this style continue and improve even more. Cleetus brought this up some time ago, not like a statement that things were changing but he were recognizing both longer format videos where we see more progress in each video and aspects about increasing general pace. And he also managed to keep the intensity high and in some cases much higher. Well done Cleet, taking the next big steps for this channel. Sure I'd throw in a wish for the next Mullet build, just like Mullet bumped leeroy down from being the main character I'd love to see a big tire-category make its entrance. It would bring back the Dragstrip programming, and I'd settle for it to have 30-40% of the content. Do you folks agree? (Yes Leeroy with a skin is sure going to be a nice era of programming, but we need a BIG-FREEDOM-STAR build as well :D :D!
Might be able to fix the bunny hop by adjusting the angle of the caltracs up a bolt hole. The caltrac should be level with the ground at the point of peak weight transfer. put a go-pro on it. If it starts level and squats negative it takes weight off the tire as it comes into the power and thus you get the bite-spin action. Love the videos!

This’ll probably never get back to them but the reason the ford keeps doing one wheel burnouts is the stock traction control system with the locker. To override it you have to start your burnout within a couple seconds of stopping or a granny system kicks in and limits the locker regardless of traction control being off. You have to roll forward a couple more feet if the second wheel on the drivers side doesn’t immediately spin. I speak from experience in doing consistent two wheel burnouts in the f150s I’ve owned.

This truck is soooo bada$$. It’s a beautiful truck, and it would be a monster door dash vehicle! Door dash is what I’ve been limited to, I used to do construction, but drs just found a mass on my left lung. So I’ve been instructed to stop carpentry until we figure this thing out. So for now I want a fast truck, and a chopper to enjoy while I can! Who knows what the future holds! Watching your vids makes me laugh even on days it’s hard to smile man, I thank you for that!

The dont *have to*. The 427 is a safe bet. They’d either take the 5.3 out of the gmc and build the entire thing, or just buy a built engine that they know is capable of 1000 whp. The “little ole 302” is a built coyote, built as good as it can be for this application. I didn’t see the GMC snap a crank off? Did you?
Also, not only is the Ford lighter, but it has a bed cover. GMC is heavier and has more drag because it doesn’t have the bed cover. It’s an apples to oranges comparison.

With all these 4x4 trucks it helps if you put airbags in the rear and air them up only at the track and then put limiting chains on the front to help keep the truck from weight transferring.

Cleetus doesn't "beat" the giveaway cars/trucks. It's called testing and tuning. We all have to do this with our cars we build. It's not beating them. This is a very high performance race car/truck. Not a normal domestic everyday street automobile.
Gotta get an aftermarket locker for the f1smokems. My buddy did that after having the same issue spinning one tire on the burnout before going into 4wd. The new locker changed the truck
