Tea had to keep her duel streak alive somehow. Not because plot needs her to not lose her life or anything. Btw great Dance career tea you definitely are a dancer
@@anthonythomas305 Actually... Yuga had two Duels against Romin: the first one happened at the beginning of SEVENS and the other one happened at the beginning of Arc 4.
I know that technically she IS the female lead, but to me to this day, it is absolutely offending that Mai is not considered a female lead (aka that she was given more screen time)
Téa Gardner beat Joey Wheeler five times in Duel Monsters (only the end of one Duel was shown on screen, but Yugi mentioned it, when checking Joey's deck and suggesting him some lessons from Grandpa Muto). Téa then dueled Mai Valentine in Duelist Kingdom, where Mai chose to concede the Duel. She then beat Johnny Steps at an Arcade Dancing Game, just before the start of Battle City. When the KaibaCorp blimp was remotely forced to land at the sea fort, she entered Noah's Virtual World, where she defeated Crump of the Big Five. And Téa also played a game of Capsule Monsters against Yugi at the Domino High School (but the final result wasn't shown). She then was later sucked into the Capsule Monsters game world (though I can't quite remember her accomplishments in the rest of that arc)...
In all faireness, Mai forfeit her duel w Tea. She knew she could beat her but understood what was at stake so she took the L so Yugi would have enough star chips to enter Pegasus' Castle and Tea's efforts would not have been in vain
You dare doubt Tea's skills? She was only holding back against Crump, if she showed her true skills, no villain from the the original Yu-Gi-Oh series would have the chance of winning.
Tea always struck as someone who duels for fun and not for any other reason. This is Imo why she dueled on Yugi's behalf when his spirit was broken, she hoped that the gesture would help restore his will to duel in the first place. Tea may not have been a professional but she was always my favorite female lead.
Personally not really, because Tea/Anzu isn't really a duelist so there really wouldn't be a point for Yugi and her to duel. Perhaps in a similar setting like the second episode of the DM series where her and Joey were casually dueling. But otherwise nah
@@ScionStorm1 That would be really nice! Honestly they had a perfect opportunity to make Tea/Anzu duel against Johnny, not only would it favor her character and completed the duel but it would've made it interesting to see two low level duelists duel That and Tea/Anzu would still keep her 100% win streak
It would be a very Flirty, intresting Duel if Yugi and Tea Did Duel. It would've been even better if Yugi/Atem actually TAUGHT her how to Duel instead of the Slipshod way she DID learn....
If they did duel, I could see Yugi ultimately surrendering to Anzu in the same way Mai did with her, and he did with Rebecca, unironically keeping the meme of Anzu's winning streak alive.
Yugi vs Tea.... in a what if anime would be good. Like if they made a what if anime with the roles reversed where Teá got the puzzle and all that and little yugi was still starting out
Dubious honor of having an undefeated record due to barely ever dueling. But it does make sense for her character. And it helps that Tea/Anzu is an actually good way to write a non-combatant female character.
Imagine if Anzu/Tea wins a game against Yugi and Kaiba becomes so obsessed with her duelings skills that he just for Anzu/Tea's Dueling skills that Kaibas pays for her New York Dancing school and rent.

I'd be interested in any duel the team can sell me on story/character-wise. What would a duel between Yugi and Téa tell us about them? It could be fun!
Tea was not a very good duelist. She almost got destroyed by Mai, but Mai pretty much let her win. And she got lucky against Crump, if Yugi wasn’t nearby she wouldn’t have been able to summon the Dark Magician with the Sage’s Stone spell card.
I almost want to count Mai as the female lead for DM. Obviously Tea is a bigger character but she isn't depicted as a duelist so I don't know if she should count for this. Not to mention at least one of her 3 duels were filler, so she dueled even less in the Manga

When you just flat out say that Tea was 3-0 it sounds impressive until you break down the specifics. The first person we see Tea duel is Joey but this is before he's been properly taught how to play and been given a competent deck so it's really not saying much. The next person is Mai but Mai CLEARLY let her win by not using a facedown card that could have saved her Harpie Lady, then immediately surrendering and claiming that Harpie Lady was the best monster she had. If you've seen Mais duel with Yugi shortly thereafter it should be obvious how big of a lie that was. The last one is against the penguin dude in the Virtual World arc and this is the only duelist I can say she straight up legitimately beats and even then she makes major mistakes and misplays all throughout, meaning if she were really a great duelist and knew what she was doing she could have won much earlier than she did.
