No, not butchered, just the wrong song. They should have done just about anything else. .This song is so strongly associated with the Rolling Stones that it is difficult to do a cover version and do it well.
If anything he adds a bit of Soul to it and doesn't really try to interpret the song Country style.. In the UK we have a singer called Mick Hucknall from the band Simply Red. In a blindfold test I might have thought it was him.

I usually think of Jane’s Addiction when I hear this song. They did a pretty awesome version but really like this version too!
@@leasherm Motorhead did a real good cover of it too. That is the problem. Many have done it, and some way better than others.
The backing vocals are great but they overpower Eric Church. I like Church but this isn't a good cover.
