The irony of John seemingly worried that this episode would age badly if crypto took off, when if anything, in retrospect, he wasn't harsh ENOUGH against it
Anyone with basic economic knowledge knew crypto was not going to last. Many things have been used as currency such as seashells and flowers. They all follow the same pattern it gains steam then gets popularized and then falls hard
Fun fact: EOS, which they said in 2018 was "going to change the world forever", is now worth $0.47. We're still waiting for Bitcoin and Ethereum to fully crash.
@@FishDawg if you think it's going tostart going up suddenly after years of going off a cliff, go for it. But honestly trump's sliver coin is probably a better investment. At least you can shove those up your @ss .
The annoying thing is, at that point Bitcoin legitimately was a good investment. No one could have predicted the grifters and scammers that would boost it so high.
@@Whiteythereaperliterally not true. Anyone with basic economic knowledge would know. There have been millions of alternative currency from animals to flower petals to sea shells and they all have the same life expectancy start going up a bit then explode and then come back down hard and have no value. Bitcoin is just the next version of it. It only has a little more value than those so it has stayed a little bit. Bitcoin in general is not stable
By the time you heard about people making money at it, all the gains had already happened. If you had bought in back when it was at $8, you'd be getting interviewed on a swamp log. Btw, lots of people who made millions on crypto acquired bitcoin by selling drugs online, not as an investment vehicle.
You know, and a lot are going to realize this: it's great to see Dan (aka amir from college humors WAH! DAN!) is still employed after CH died. And that he has been writing jokes for the show since then. Update: i know college humor is now dropout which is ran and owned my Sam, who is hilarious. i still watch dimension 20 and game changer. i'm just giving context
One thing I find funny is the blockchain being "very secure" has not aged well at all. North Korea alone has stolen almost 2 billion dollars worth of cryptocurrencies from various exchanges, and that is only a fraction of the total stolen cryptocurrency. It totals losses annually in the billions in assets stolen. And once it's stolen, it's gone forever, there is no such thing as FDIC insurance. If banks operated that poorly, everyone woul have their money in their fucking mattress. It's utterly insane, not just laughable, to call the blockchain secure, as we have repeated and vast evidence to the exact contrary. It's worth mentioning some of these attacks have resulted in so much losses that entire blockchains have hard forked resulting in a complete mess.
The blockchain itself was not changed to facilitate that theft. They stole from the exchange's accounts by compromising their access somehow. That's a failure of IT security at the exchange. Gaining access to bank software doesn't mean that physical dollars aren't secure in a vault.
Every time I hear “shero” I lose my mind. The word “her” is already in hero! Just say “her-o”, it’s not that much better but it at least sounds better.
Listening to all these pearls of wisdom from John and crew I firmly believe the only reason humans have survived at the top of the food chain is our opposable thumbs.
1:42 "And look, who knows if this summit is even going to happen" Ohhhh happened it fucking did, and as a Singaporean, I'm still salty we ended up having the foot the bill for Kim Jong-Un's hotel stay here fucking smh
The one thing they got wrong was the fact smart glasses were not going to be a thing and re-release this video 2 weeks before Meta revealed their prototype
i find it ironic that John is basically mansplaining how people should or shouldn't celebrate International Women's Day. i have no idea whether or not most women liked or even cared any of these symbolic gestures, which in a way shows that he might just be overthinking it.
According to Google 🤷 While the hero's character arc is all about a character gaining physical mastery over their world, the heroine's arc is much more concerned with their mastery over their own mind. In the end, this has nothing to do with gender, and there are plenty of excellent female heroes and male heroines out there.
Is it just me or is anyone who spends any significant amount of time at burning men not entirely trustworthy with a hugely significant amount of money? Doug Evans did that while Juicero was entirely going down the tubes, the jerk.
They have playlists on the channel that have them in order. At least they do for this season. As for why they aren't in order: 1) It is in order. We just haven't determined _what_ order it is in. 2) More engagement in the comments. 3) Nothing has meaning.
they probably do upload them to youtube in order in their batch, but youtube just processes them at different speeds for some reason and so the episodes get posted out of order after the upload fully processes. so unless they did one at a time and waited for each to process and upload before starting the next one, this is what we get.
I'm going to assume they're all uploaded, processed then scheduled at a later day for the same time. Not sure why this would screw up the order, but it's most likely an issue on RUclips's side itself, even though it's annoying to look at.
Why yes I am bingeing this season
same.
Same
It's like a little bit of time travel, I like it ;)
Try binging the dictionary so you can spell binging properly.
Same :3 we are all doing the same thing yay
Years after originally seeing this episode, I still can't unhear this guy at 25:43
Is it the BITCONNEEEEECT guy?
SAME. i was just about to comment that his "hey heyyyyy" is a major earworm

Also google glasses are weirdly kinda happening with some of the recent AR goggles…

I was surprised to learn that it still exists. They even launched a competitor to Wikipedia!?
around when this aired, Eos was worth approx 18/share. it's currently at less than .50/share.
So still wildly overpriced.
Basically all of them except Bitcoin have crashed to 0.
Too bad Banana Boy already got his burning man wedding and kilotons of nose candy before people realized it was bullshit.
So what you're saying is now is a great time to invest in EOS? /s

HECK YEAH
Same with all the others, except season 3 for some reason.
Looking back on the crypto story, that Beanie Baby is a way better investment than anything related to crypto.

this episode aged particularly well
Which is impressive, given that he said tech discussions don't tend to age well

wdym dan as amir, is this referring to one of their skits that i forgot
It didn't die, it's just been reborn 😂
Dropout replaced CH, but it’s still the same company.
Dan is Dan Gurwich, Amir is Amir Blumenfeld. They are not the same person. But yes they are both former CH employees.
My favorite Dan Gurwich sketch is still "more than nothing, less than something," which perfectly embodies the sentiment of the creative process.
Keegan shows up in the oddest locations, but it's always wonderful.

I’m the Baby Merchant
Tots R us
Hey, linguist here! Although "hero" can be used for both genders, the feminine form of "hero" is "heroine".
you can say hero for both men and women.
Ngl I was shouting that at the screen when he was making that joke 😂
Why does some articles mention that heroine refers to character's inner arc versus hero referring to external arc.

If octopuses lived longer than 3-5 years, we’d seriously be in trouble
I honestly rather being poor than doing crypto to make money. Lol.
And I hate being broke. Lol.
31:42 Johnny Boy is right, Dan’s belt is ridiculous!
Bit coin is not safe. Don't listen to the lies.
Sure it is. My pal Ponzi told me so.
Ah sweet, they have discount Carlos Menc-- HOLY SHIT
Same guy, right?
That poor bitconnect guy was totally taken in by them and was left with nothing! He was their biggest advocator and lost everything.

BTC=Beanie Babies 🤣Shit I wish my beanie babies were worth +2000% since 2018
The google glasses are the equivalent of the optigrab in the Jerk 😂
There’s really just no knowing where Keagan Michael Key is going to show up
Doesn’t HODL stand for “hold on for dear life”?
So happy I never got into crypto. My ex was practically begging me to buy some and that it was “the future”
The female version of Hero, is Heroine actually
Yeah but you can just use heroes too, for women
This has jackal energy 😅
might just be easier to keep our heroes as men haha
Because of this episode Brock Pierce was removed from Eos. That's power baby! Block Chainiver forever!
Lmao to the people that got swept up in the crypto
There’s currently 2 countries where bitcoin is one of the national currencies
I’m glad Dan is doing good and still being bullied after College Humor
This episode was mucho fantastico.
"Dumpy Swedish Beatle" 😂😂😂
11:32 holy shit it’s Dan from College Humor
Binging these episodes and seeing cryptocurrency, I was like “Ugh, right. That happened… Wait, this is 2018?! It’s not even about NFTs yet!!”
Wreakuiam for a dream. That took me back 🎸
Pump and dump really had a really different meaning when I was young
John from the past was right, Eos was bs ✨️
I have never seen a panel show as quiet as it was when that guy was rambling on about the bachelor.
Glad I never fell for the cryptocurrency crap.
Based and correct Mike
even tho i know everything there is to know bitcoin and blockchain. But i just fucking love this explaining anything
25:50 found the It Takes Two voice actor for the book

This just in...John wasn't wrong...again. lol
I wonder if Jon is making fun of Daniel O’brian? Extra funny if he is, Dan is a great writer.

Sad how relevant these remain.

11:02 - as it turns out, Cardi B is pretty on top of all of those things. See 2020 campaigning with Sanders.
Im pretty sure Dan used to work at collegehumor
Didn't that guest at the end run a massive crypto scam that John talked about in this episode?
That's Keegan-Michael Key lol! They're satirising the bitconnect guy.
😂😂😂
Also, the Bitconnect guy was not as involved as people make him out to be. He was more or less a hired hypeman.
