It's like watch the original Godzilla, only if the dvd was drowned in watercolor paint
More like tempera paint
Yeah
Yeah
I wish I could Godzilla in color and make it better than Luigi Cozzi that I haven’t heard of. No offense
And you're on crack
I would never want Godzilla in color. The black and white works so extremely well with how it's filmed.
Apparently, Toho had the capability of filming in colour, but they thought that the bleak atmosphere of the film would be enhanced by black-and-white.
And that they flaws in the visual effects are masked better in black-and-white.
Colourising things in general can work (for films, I look to Reefer Madness as to how colourisation can be good; while my favourite example would be The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, an updated Game Boy Color re-release of a classic Game Boy game), but the black-and-white version is still usually the better version.
Yea
@@HydraSpectre1138 I think they should release colorized versions of the first 2 movies so fans can pick and choose which versions they prefer.
Fun fact: The new soundtrack is done by the band, Magnetic System. That may not ring a bell, but if you look at the members in that band, you'll know that the soundtrack is done by Franco Bixio, Fabio Frizzi, and Vince Tempera, who you may know from some of Lucio Fulci's horror films. In fact, that ending theme for the film would serve as a warmup to the theme of Fulci's Zombi 2.
Yes, I was already struck by the similarity to the Zombie 2 theme while I was still watching the video and before even seeing your comment here.
Why is King Kong on an Italian movie poster for Terror of Mechagodzilla?
Because the people who translated and transported the movies to Italy are dumb.I feel Shame for my country.
That's like clickbait in the real world.
Same reason every German poster for a Godzilla movie refers to, “Frankenstein,” as in “Frankenstein’s Pet Monster vs. Whatever.”
@@GoofyPoptart Yeah, and that was before clickbait became a thing.
I'm Italian and I know it , italian clickbait
The title of the movie was changed in Destroy Kong the Earth is on Danger
TitanGoji: *shows footage of trains crashing into each other while simultaneously describing how wrong it is*
Also TitanGoji: "by the way if you wanna watch this movie its on youtube!"
Japan:what is This?
America:ask Italy
*Japan walks to Italy
Japan:what is this?
Italy:it's my movie!
Japan:your movie?!
Italy:yup!
Japan:ok
*23 years later*
Italy: why did I do that
*A smoothie.*
YEAH BOIIIII
Romano: Told you that you would regret it COCKBREATH!
Italyball: Sorry Japan!
Yes
Let's all hope Scream Factory, Universal and Classic Media announce Colorized Version of "Godzilla, King of the Monsters!"
Criterion collection Owns the rights to all of the showa Godzilla movies
Don't Forget MadMan, They Need a Proper Colorization of Godzilla, King of the Monsters!
The music at the end of the film is made by Fabio Frizzi who also composed the soundtrack for Zombi 2 by Italian director Lucio Fulci, they are very similar and it seems like the Zombi 2 soundtrack is just an updated version of the end song of this movie.
This, From Akira Ifikubes' Prayer for Peace to Zombie: One of the most atmospheric horror soundtracks ever written.. Death and trauma are written into the very DNA of this music..
The original Godzilla kind of terrified me as a kid. Thought he would walk in my room at night. The other Godzillas are fine but the first definitely did what was intended for me anywaya and all that depression involved with it as well.
Gojira (1954) is the BEST G flick ever! I will always take IT over any of the subsequent films, either those silly kiddie oriented "Verses" films or some post 2000 overblown Hollywood CGI orgy.
It looks like someone puked crayons onto the footage
The music at the ending of "Cozzilla" would later be re-done for the Lucio Fulci film Zombi 2; Fabio Frizzi was among the composers for both! Some soundtrack uploads for Fulci's film even include a shortened version of the Cozzilla music.
Also, go watch the 64 film "The Train," that's where those steam locomotive clips come from. Real crashes, not models!
Jesus Christ. Luigi Cozzi is an absolute madman lmao
@@TitanGoji "Contamination" is my fave of his though. There's also a non-youtube link somewhere of a better-quality upload of Cozzilla.
@@Pershingtank Oh sweet!
1:23 that sound audio clip truly captures everything bizzare about the Italian edit. It's such a butchered and cropped bastardization mess that it reminds me of all the other butchered and jarring edits of other films that exist out there in this retro cinematic oblivion that we all adore
As an Italian Godzilla fan... I totally agree with you... I, with other Italian Godzilla Fans, am deeply ashamed of Cozzilla... I'm serious...
(Sorry for the bad english)
Yep, count me in, too.
I agree Cozzilla is a awful movie but In my opinion Godzilla 1998 is way worse then Cozzilla
Your English is perfect. Only problem is "with you... I," should be spelled with you, I. 👍
Wouldn't really have minded an Italian Version of a Kaiju film. Some of their Road Warrior Knockoffs are pretty entertaining.
Why did they replace Mothra with Dharkon from Smash Ultimate on that one poster?
They called her the thing and also they get the designs always wrong
A _desperate_ marketing ploy.
Because apparently, the American dub calls Mothra “The Thing”.
Oh mama mia, meesa gonna smash building with a Yoshi! Woohoo! Let’s e-go!
Guess this was the closest they could come to Colorizing Gojira back then.
Glad someone made a video about this bizarre film
AHHHH WWII STOCK FOOTAGE RIPS MY FORESKIN OFF
Wait what
Yikes!
Well, gee....that is certainly of great unimportance!
“Eye-talian”
I know, I winced every time he said that. XD
Didn't know about this, super cool.
Cringed every time I heard "EYE-talian" though.
Same here! This guy probably has trouble ordering food at Olive Garden. Too ethnic for him. 😂
4:06 well wgat about the film ROMA?
It's ITalian not EYEtalian
This movie looked like some 2 yr old drew all over it
This is so insane, they should release this on Blu-ray for collectors. Godzilla....the 'Oh Shit! Italian Cut!"
Yeah
in 1957 Italy saw the americanized version and not the Honda original. the Japanese version became available only in the early 2000s on TV and subbed DVD
I appreciate your judgment, although yes, today it might be a shit movie, but Cozzi was planning to make the original movie out of it as a horror movie. adding scenes of dead people and explosions taken from WWII documentaries. I would like them to make an Italianized Godzilla movie. As an Italian, I'm really curious what a Godzilla design made by my country is like
An Italian knockoff of a Godzilla movie would've been Awesome.
I like this film I think it gives a good impression on what the bombs look like after impact colors white light and lots of flashes. So yeah I think this is more like the bomb than the 1954 version yes I said that!
I agree, and I would go so far as to say that this film is closer to the original spirit the original was actually meant to be, but was heavily censored by America after the post-war occupation.
And yes, I really agree about the use of the filters during the city burning: It looks so eerie, fire lighting everything.. It works on a very surrealistic level..
That remix of prayer for peace was actually kind of good
This is the film version of playing an original gameboy game on a gameboy color
I actually love this version
Oh wait, I forgot you are Satan!
@@MonkeJesus No It’s Just His Opinion
Eye-talian?
Great review TitanGoji!I love Cozzilla from 1977 too. But in a bizarre bad movie way.Yes the real world war 2 stuff is tasteless and destroys the intention of the original. You need to watch the original to understand the Cozzi version. It`s that bad.The restored version looks very nice.Too bad that Cozzilla will be forever a bootleg. At least you can download the restored version (for free). And burn it on dvd.
What are you talking about? I think the war footage RESTORES the intentions behind the film from what was heavily censored and restricted in Allied controlled, Post-war occupational media in Japan at the time the original was made.
Cozzi was making this as an Italian, an Italian who likely grew up under occupational governence after the war and may have even witnessed the end of the war as a child, and thus used his very Italian way of filmmaking to express those shared feelings he could relate to with the makers of the original..
The worst Godzilla movie ever made was Godzilla's revenge
I tried to watch this once and quickly gave up. It was like trying to watch a movie while copying it and triggering the old copy protection that was built into VCRs, which basically messed up the picture you were trying to copy. This does inspire me however, to make my own version of it, where I randomly insert footage of Bill Cosby and call it, “CosZilla,” where everytime Godzilla steps on something, I cut in footage of Cosby saying, “Jello POODING POPS!” Seriously though, didn’t they include this on the Criterion Godzilla box set that was released recently?
I acually like Godzilla raids again
A lot of us do. It's got Anguirus in it.
I like raids again
Me too. It's still a Godzilla movie, So why wouldn't I want to watch it?
At first I didn't know what Cozzilla was, but now I just see it as a Godzilla knockoff from Italy
its it is
It was an official licensed, colorized re-edit.
At least this edit retains the anti-nuclear and the anti-war messages that KOTM ommited
You mean "KOTM!" (It's just to not get confused with the recent KOTM).
@@reallynotsogoldenisopod No I think you mean
"GODZILLA! KING OF THE MONSTERS! IT'S ALIVE! ASTOUNDING BEYOND BELIEF!!"
Yeah that name is kinda over the top but it was the 50s after all...
I mean, there are still anti-nuclear messages in KotM, they're just less immediately obvious. Godzilla was still created through nuclear testing, and Raymond Burr's initial cynical attitude towards the existence of the monster turning to terror when finally faced with Godzilla himself is representative of the US coming to question the morality of the atomic bomb as the years have gone by.
I need a link of Chinkozilla for research
Imagine:
2. Cozilla Raids Again
3. King Cozz vs Cozilla
4. Cozzra vs Cozilla
5. Cozzorah: The Three Headed Cozi
6. Invasion of Astro Cozzi
7. Cozilla vs The Sea Cozzi
8. Son of Cozilla
9. Destroy all Cozzis
....
Imagine watching this high while watching the highzilla movie
This feels like a creepypasta or modern Analog Horror film on youtube.
Gojira (1954) is the BEST G flick ever! I will always take IT, even a version like THIS, over any of the subsequent films, either those silly kiddie oriented "Verses" films or some post 2000 overblown Hollywood CGI orgy.
EYE-talian is a good example of domestication right there.
Speaking Of Cozzilla, I Have Reuploaded The Geno Cuddy Restoration Of This Film, Since He Privated It.
About the credits music, it was done by Fanio Frizzi, known for films like Zombi 2 and The Beyond, and speaking of Zombi 2, the Cozzilla theme was included on that films OST as it's literally just the film's main theme, but with the melody replaced with Prayer for Peace
Edit: I apologize for mispronouncing "Italian". I know better now vs. years ago. Was just an honest mistake, and I'm sure as hell not the only person do have done so, as someone who grew up in the south, where the regional dialect has a tendency of pronouncing things differently.
And no. I'm not giving you a link to Chinkozilla.
Still better than the usa version
@@stylesheetra9411 I would have to disagree. The US re-edit is basically just the first movie, but in the POV of Steve Martin, and still retains its anti-nuclear themes, even if it's not as effective as the Japanese version.
@@TitanGoji This one actually has the balls to show footage of dead Japanese people and Hiroshima footage. Give it SOME credit
-Worst- I think you mean *best* Godzilla movie. :)
My apologies
This does pose an unsettling question: is it better than Yonggary (1999)? LOL
I wish Godzilla (1954) gets in color too
I like this cut, it's like a trippy psychedelic cartoon.
same
When you showed the scene where Godzilla uses his atomic breath while talking about the colorization... 100 people had seizures. Ugh. lol.
Italy is the same country that made the Italian rodan poster where rodan looks like a t-rex and put king Kong in the terror of mechagodzilla Italian poster so it's expected to see such a terrible film from them
Italian Filmmakers are crazy about doing knockoffs of movies from other Countries. They must've made at least a hundred copies of the Road Warrior, alone.
Mama Mia! Can we get Godzilla?
No, Mario! We have Godzilla at home.
*Godzilla at home:* (No spaghetti to boot.)
1:40 “Eye” talian audiences ?
this type of colorization gives headaches but the musical score is so cool
In Cozzilla's defense, I think the colorization looks good from 3:58-4:04
Jeez those friggin eye-talians....lol
7:51 Well atleast "The Room" is original and didn't bleed you eyes out.
7:39 what's the song? So creppy yet so good
Yeah. I want to know too
No one:
Titangoji: Eyetalian
Never made through this piece of shit! I’ve made fun of it in one of my Stop Motion Clips once. It’s not on RUclips anymore unfortunately
I cant believe king of the monsters (1956) was the first godzilla movie i ever saw but now im extreamly interested in this version
Eyetalian lol
There's so much fucking colour it's burning my skin off
7:19 I punched this into google translate and it came out as, “Is humanity Slavic?”
Godzilla Raids Again is not that bad! Yes the English dub is unwatchable but the Japanese version is decent! It's problem is that people always compare it to the first one just because it was a sequel instead of comparing it to other films in the series
The English Dub calls Godzilla Gigantis for no apparent reason.
Great work. Very professional in every sense. Also thanks for the links to the movie. I look for it everywhere. Finally I found the chest full of cozzycrap
No problem!
I would love to see the 1954 in color as a remaster that exact movie Id like it better in black and white but I think it'd be sweet in color.
it's coming
@@dagosias what? Wait imma look it up
I really must disagree with the judgement against this film. Though questionably executed (due in no small part to the technical limitations of the time), and the obvious proliferation of poorly rendered copies on RUclips and other video shares, I wouldn't call it the worst Godzilla ever, infact it could've easily been the best if handled somewhat more tactfully (especially in regards to the use of the color filters, since there are definitely sequences where they actually do work better than others and in those they lend a good deal of atmosphere, the sequences where Godzilla is attacking the cities work best for this; It looks like a vision out of hell itself when Tokyo is burning and you see the flames lighting everything). It works in a stylistic sense and makes the whole scene immensely surrealistic.
Speaking of which: The use of War footage: Here's what you need to understand about the original film firstly: It was meant to originally be a war movie, but Japan was under occupational governance at the time (or at the very least we're heavily pressured into behaving as if it were), and thus why you got Gojira in the first place, as a sci-fi film with thinly veiled allegory was really the only way to tell the story they wanted to. So, for all we know, this version of Godzilla by Cozzi (himself Italian/Hetalia, surely grew up during the war and thus experienced some share of the horrors dealt toward the Axis powers as Japanese or German civilians had after the war by both American and Russian troops) is closer to what it actually WANTED to and was DESTINED to be, and I think it speaks volumes that Cozzi and Frizzi chose "Prayer for Peace" as the film's central theme song (which may have inspired Frizzi's soundtrack for "Zombie" and "Land of the Dead" later on, in keeping with the apocalyptic sentiments contained in that song). I think there was allot of personal empathy from Cozzi, one survivor of war, to many others, that which only someone who grew up in those circumstances would understand.
Again, if it weren't for the technical limitations of the era and the demands of an era in transition, then Cozzilla would actually be known as one of the BEST versions of Godzilla, a more poignant and raw version making the serious narratives that the original film was forced to hide as explicit as it probably always wanted to be..
Here’s the thing though: this film falls directly into the Italian exploitation genre of the 1970s. Most Italian films of the time aimed to shock and surprise to cover for the low budgets rather than convey a meaningful message or even a sensível plot. It wasn’t meant to further the original’s message; rather, the violent and graphic imagery was meant to shock and sensationalize. This movie fully earns its place on the trash heap of history.
@The Eye Creature are you saying Human Centipede is art?
When the podcast Cozzilla is priveted
Gozzi also did 'Star Crash', the man shouldn't be let anywhere near a camera.
love the pronunciation of itallian, i tallian, from apple.
I like Godzilla Raids Again and I feel like I am alone
The Debut of Anguirus? What's not to like?
First Godzilla film I saw as a kid. Will always be special to me.
What If Godzilla, King of the Monsters! Was Released in Australia With an Australian Audio Track with Proper Colorization and Pitch Correct the Entire Soundtrack of the Film????????
Fun Fact: Cozzilla was Released 1 Year After My Dad A.K.A Wilson Turner Was Born
They shouldn't have edited it
Three words... King Kong 1976, that's the big reason this version exists
If Cozzilla was released today, it would get a whopping 0 on rotten tomatoes
Believe me A shin cozilla would be a “bait” for pervs XD
As shown in 9:03 LOL
Hmmmmm, still think All Monsters Attack is the worst Godzilla movie ever, but this is a very close pick.
Great video, fascinating!
It looks like if the original got vomited on by Bob Ross.
Eyetalian??
I think that edited in train crash footage is from The Train (1964) but I might be wrong.
Correction ... the worst Godzilla movie I will NOT see.
3:27 film idea: Godzilla vs dharkon
Where I’ll watch Godzilla (1998)
Korean
OK, was this version of the original Godzilla meant for people who are high or on drugs? Because this look like Godzilla on meth.
To quote Brandon Tenold in his Hanuman vs. 7 Ultraman review, "I'm not joking here, there are scenes in this movie that makes Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas look more like a DARE PSA by comparison!"
Godzilla LSD.
"Eye-talian"? Are you effin kidding me?
Cozzilla sounds more like a spoof than a new cut
1:23-1:33 set to x0.25 speed to hear one of most creepy roars, that you ever heard!
It is news to me that people didn't like godzilla raids again
I know, right? I like all of the movies from the Showa Era.
just hand the series over to the italians
don't make fun of Italian people
What made G endure, I'd argue, is that there are so many curios, variations, a few good films, some abominations, some low budget, some blockbusters... and flat out weird ones such as this. The franchise runs the gamut like no other. And what would you expect from Cozzi if you're familiar with his oeuvre?
mom can we have godzilla : mom no we have godzilla at home : the godzilla at home
What is up the the "Oh" after the Shin Godzilla part at the end. I got tired of finding the frame to see what was on the text flashes on the screen I gave up rewinding and pausing.
The 1945 movie song sounds like the NAB nab chase song
Still better than the American Adaptation from the 90s
9:02 I don't get it.
Chinkozilla is a Shin Godzilla porn parody based entirely on the political aspects of the film.
im so ashamed by being italian🙃🥲
What is that poster in the end.
i do like the music
Aside from the WW2 footage I actually enjoy this cut
