It’s actually not in chest. He uses a technique called contra, more commonly referred to as fry. It involves using a different part of the voice than that of chest voice. It’s a technique that I myself and rather comfortable with, so feel free to ask for any clarification.

@@evantimnev3061 It's chest, everyone knows Geoff doesn't use Fry for his low notes, very rarely anyway, he just has a powerful chest voice and sometimes I believe he lowers his larynx to give it that rough texture. I do it myself

He also sang a good chunk of "Be Prepared" in the original Lion King after Jeremy Irons' (Scar's voice actor) voice gave out.

They had Earl sing Be Prepared since they were singing an arrangement of the song done in a Lion King medley the group sang for the album Once Upon An Ever After called The King Has Returned. It's the same exact thing.
