What other references did YOU catch? From light chains, to Aquarius using hundred fists, to utsusemi, to rolan-mart. The raid is jam packed with nods to the game and its history!
It was all so incredible! All of the zone transitions, the NM pulls in between bosses, the MUSIC! Ark Angels fight is my personal favorite of this awesome raid!!
@@acclrator it was quite the experience! They did a great job, I think, and really respected the memory. Don’t forget, you can also play FFXI, still! 😍
from what I saw from chat, the general consensus is that to FFXI players it looks like WAY TOO MUCH HAPPENING ON SCREEN AT ALL TIMES MY HEAD IS GOING TO EXPLODE! :P I've heard positive and negative, but personally I am thrilled with the delivery.
44:28 "Stun" and "Interrupt" are treated as separate mechanics. Melee jobs get Stun with Leg Sweep, Ranged get Interrupt with head shot, and tanks have both with Low Blow and Interject. The great majority of bosses in the game are immune to Stun, but a few have things that can actually be interrupted. That said. I LOVE this raid. I played XI for 12 years from NA release and have been around XIV since 1.0. This whole raid is nostalgia trip. Divine Might is now my favorite piece of battle content in the whole game.
Yeah, mentioned it on the stream, he does Yukikaze to Gekko to Kasha, and they do FFXIV styled animations for the Weapon Skills and Skill Chains. It's pretty neat.
As a XIV player who played through most of XI's expacs (still need to do the mini ones, Seekers, RoV, and TVR) this summer, coming back to XIV to see the zones I played in hi-definition was really cool! I can imagine how much cooler it is for long time XI vets to see these areas. I'm thinking the next raid will feature us fighting the Zilart Princes (based on what the story villain says in the stinger), but I hope we get to have Sea and Promathia as well - two of the coolest places in XI. Right now in XIV, if you go to the Lower Jueno area, it actually plays the Christmas music which is a really nice touch. :)
You know when the stinger happened I assumed it was the "four lords" i.e. Sky Gods (which have already previously been introduced in to the game in Stormblood) but who knows! I hadn't seen the Lower Jeuno Christmas music update ! that's very cool as the music just changed in FFXI, as well
*my eyes* everyone's effects! Lol All jokes aside, i thought i would never meet a galka/roe fan like me it just so awesome. I love your galka voice intro, too. Lol This raid just gave me goosebumps and nostalgia for 11, and i was so happy and overwhelmed with emotions. 11 is still one of my favorite games, and if 14 ever gave us a galka race, i would fantasia in a heartbeat. 😂
@@JayRhea decades of ignoring my responsibilities, catastrophe occurring around me and my friends and family have conditioned me for the sole purpose of playing FFXIV with all effects visible. But really I could hardly tell what was happening and I’m just slapping my keyboard mindlessly.
When it comes to this fight we are not in Kansas anymore. I am a overly shocked ff11 player from day one of all the moving we have to do in XIV. lol Good Job guys!!
moving, rotations, dodging, cooldown windows...its definitely a different era! I can appreciate both, for sure, but something about FFXI always has me coming back :)
I really enjoyed the raid and I'm glad you guys did too. I played FFXI, but never finished the first installment. I did some of the Wings of the Goddess and Chains of Promathia later on in a private server. I hope someday the game gets a remaster treatment with a better UI(and maybe faster combat?) so that it is more approachable.
Ive recently created a character on the trial version, it looks like a fun game is there a bgwiki or a cool channel to watch for tips and getting around for ffxiv?
XIV is one of those games I could go back and start fresh with no expectations again ~ I loved the early levels so much. There are lots of guides and creators out there, I’m not as active in the game currently, but I can ask some friends who are if they have a source of truth they follow
Apparently when an enemy has a long duration interruptable cast...its a good idea to interrupt it! there was so much to look for and learn on the first day :P
i think we're getting chains of promathia and treasures aht urghan for our part 2 of echoes of vanadiel, and then for part 3, wings of the goddess and seekers of adoulin
I can’t wait to see what they add next, sea and absolute virtue would be another cool nod. I believe the NPC in one of the cut scenes looks toward the Shrine of Ru’Avitau and says something that I thought was alluding to the heavenly beasts, but it’s hard to speculate especially when we saw the four lords in stormblood.

I liked the difficulty at release! It's nice to have moderately difficult content in the rotation, and it definitely was easier as people learned mechanics and got stronger.
@@HeghmohTV its still reaslly hard for me, i cant react that fast now doe to parkinsons, back in the day in the ealry to mid 00s i used to play a ton of mmos, most one i played was Lineage 2, where if you died you would actually drop some gear you spent months getting. but i was young and in highschool and had time for it. now im a man in my late 30s, with parkinsons, i dont even do ex trials, cause they way to hard. this expansion was pain. i whish they had some plugins for disabled people like me. hard isnt ok. in a singleplayer game i would probably put god mode on, cause i just wanna see the story and complete it, dont care about being hard, its annoying and a waste of time if its hard, and will not be better. i Already wrote 3 times to square to include disabled utility, and well, they included them in 16, but not in 14. which is not nice, its disrespectful!

I think it was cool how faithfully they recreated it, down to placements of NPCs and the small references like the npc looking for party, rolanmart, or offering teleport mea. It made me happy to see a nice tribute to a game I love done faithfully and not with disregard.
This is one of the reasons why I stopped playing XIV. The second the battle started the game turned into a laser light show rave. I couldn't tell you anything that was happening after that point other than Deadmau5 was in the rafters mixing up some crazy beats
