Ahhh remember this one. Mailed the dev when it was revealed cuz I loved the art aesthetic. Suuuuper nice dude, gave me all the info I needed. Game looks great!!
I know you don't read comments but, you've been killing it Splat! I've been watching Death Trash since you first reviewed it as well as KeeperRL and many others you've done retrospectives on. I think it's awesome that not only you shed light on these indie titles, but you also frequently (more or less) go back and show the progress made on these early access games, which is very important. Steam has so many negative reviews for early games that are never updated when the game fixes the things they complain about, the only way you know it's better is newer reviews addressing it. I caught your Twitch stream for the first time the other day. I never watch full steams, but I watched you play KeeperRL the whole time.
Hey, thanks. It seems like these social media type jobs can really attract undeserved negativity. Our Splatty has a pretty good community here and RUclips in general has gotten WAY better than it was just a few years ago, but I still like to let him (and others) know that we like what they do and wish the best for them.
@StevenMcSteven Not everyone sits around trawling the steam store or obsessing over every piece of gaming news available to keep up to date with every game released ever. Never heard of this game before seeing this video, bought it after watching 10 minutes of footage and now 4 hours into the game, loving it.
Had my eye on this game since the early stages - you can definitely see the passion the developer has for the game 😎 Thanks for showcasing this great game SplatterCat! 🐱
I bought this when it came to EA. It's so weird and a few glitches right now but overall the dev is working hard on it. Kiting enemies is 100% a must and run away if you need to.
This game is so weird, and I love it. I recently discovered the Voidpunk subculture, and now I totally vibe the Fleshkracken and some of the other things/themes in this game.
Just came from a bad day at work, got in bed with my fluffy blanket and I'm decompressing with this video and a cup of tea. Thanks Splattercat! Your videos are so reliably entertaining and exactly what I need right now.
I don't really know why but I get strange Fallout vibes from this game. Looks absolutely awesome! PS: Thanks for showing the options Splat :) I was thinking about getting it for my Steam Deck and you just sold it for me :)
There is so much tribute references for fallout in this game ! Palette, camera angle, colored dialog over NPCs, marked transparent colored area exit, all buncker and ground layouts, weapon types... It is a fallout love letter in real time :)
Hey Splatter Cat!! Thanks for doing all these videos showcasing indy games, they are really the most creative games out there. Thanks to you I have been able to play and discover them as well!
I know that the gaming industry has it's fair share of problems right now with all the scummy monetization schemes and crunch culture and whatnot, especially in the mainstream/big-budget portion of the market, but putting all that aside I really appreciate that easy to access learning resources and developer tools as well as sales platforms that make it easier for small studios to self-publish has resulted in such a rich gaming ecosystem. There's so many creative, weird, innovative ideas for games coming out of the indie scene. Death Trash is so bizarre in the most charming way, both in it's art direction and mechanically. I also have a lot of respect for you as a content creator who champions many of those titles from smaller devs and puts a spotlight on deserving games that might not otherwise get the attention they should, as well as offering up genuinely positive constructive criticism and suggestions for improvements. Keep up the great work!
Ah this game is fun. So I do have some advice for Splatty or anyone else. 1. There are hot keys. By holding C you can drag abilities and items down to a hotbar that uses the number keys. 2. The stealth module is very useful and you get it for free at the beginning of the game. 2x damage minimum backstab damage is really useful. And if you see enemy vision cones it makes baiting specific enemies much easier. 3. Flesh Worms make good decoys but sell for 13 gold each with 0 Barter skill. They also respawn. So taming is great for exp and money. 4. Enemies telegraph swings and shots;just be aware they swing fast and hit hard. So make sure to hit and run. 5. Once you learn crafting and disassembly you can break down weapons. This yields resources for making ammo, lockpicks, blips and so on. Blips are the ultimate distraction. Selling them is generally not cost effective. 6. If someone is named "Stranger" they are not important and can be murdered away from other NPCs for good weapons & loot. Just don't be seen or heard and keep in mind they can hit hard. 7. Fully map and explore areas, talk to everyone and take quests. Odds are more than one has you going to the same place;saves alot of time later.
Cool video, thanks. Fast note: playing as a "good guy" usually does not come from how empathic we are, but from how we like to think about ourselves, cuz we do not like meeting with our own shadow (C. G. Jung terminology) :) Just a thing to think about ;)
Dang dude I remember watchin this back in the good ol days of perf hearing and pre C but anyways I have always enjoyed when you go back to revisit old games...cause this is all stuff I saved in a big ol list and then promptly forgot about and then you come along reminding that HEY THIS GAME EXISTS so thank you. Yeah :D
This game came out of nowhere for me. I just saw it and got it, knowing nothing about it other than its name and that it was dieselpunk. OMG this game is f-ing awesome! Btw Scattercat, you need to buy crafting recipes in order to craft.
Trying so hard not to play this again, but I L-O-V-E it!! Would pay for it again, once it's finished. Fun to watch anyone play through for the first time.
Sick game and video man, I hope when I make a game a person like yourself will check it out. Keep at it man, theese indie devs need the attention they deserve.
When you were describing the gameplay at the beginning, I was thinking, "Oh, sounds a little bit like Kenshi." And then you went and said the same. Looks neat-ish.
I never imagined that my suspension of disbelief that kicks in for video games would pertain to characters not getting dehydrated and getting heatstroke from vomiting frequently, but here I am. Very nice.
I've been waiting for this game since i read about it in an article about 'fallout 1 and 2 like' games. about 6 years ago. Its so niche, I'm glad to see it getting some attention.
@@rachelmarie2666 who’s this “y’all” you’re referring to? I know what style of content he makes, I was just simply voicing my opinion/thoughts about this particular piece of content. If puking can be considered mildly unsanitary, here it completely purges you of any form of infection, so I think there's room for debate xD The weirdness of the game is very well calibrated I feel, it shows a strong identity imo, it's on good tracks.

I love that this Is the first comment I see as I open the video
I love the graphics of this game. It LOOKS like it is very simple, but the graphics are anything but stimple
Graphics take me back to my childhood. Very mid to late 90’s.

Been watching this game for a while, waiting for it to release/be almost complete for me to jump in. It looks cool
I bought this when it came to EA. It's so weird and a few glitches right now but overall the dev is working hard on it. Kiting enemies is 100% a must and run away if you need to.
I'm so excited for this game to become content complete. Definitely one of my most anticipated games

Yes! Extra long Death Trash video! My day is made.

Thanks for the heads up on this one. Looks fun! Kinda seems like an "above ground," ARPG version of Underrail.
Six String Samurai reference!!! Awesome!
Was about to make the same comment! One of the best movies ever, Splat is a man of culture.
This game came out of nowhere for me. I just saw it and got it, knowing nothing about it other than its name and that it was dieselpunk. OMG this game is f-ing awesome! Btw Scattercat, you need to buy crafting recipes in order to craft.
Splatty talkin' bout punk rock while the pet meatwads are singing "Shake hands with Beef!"
This game has a special kind of love put into it

"Because basically, I'm like a 10 year old, that somehow ended up in his mid 30's" Dude, same.
"I'm ready to go,
I'm ready for this drama,
I'm out here for the heat, bro.
I'm stepping in these loaves."
The whole vomit fetish kills any interest I would have in this game.

Im downloading this RN gonna do my own review ty 4 inspiration!
"I wish I could hotkey these"
*doesn't notice the hotbar at the bottom when in the skill menu*
The sprite work reminds me a lot of Beneath A Steel Sky (that's good)
Oh is this more than a demo now? Looking forward to watching this episode! Love me a flesh kraken
Don't know anything about this game yet, but the name kinda fucking rocks haha
This looks pretty awesome. Bought too many indie games though.... Ahhhh.
I always figured you were a good dude Splat. Now that I hear you like the Bouncing Souls, I know it to be true.
a spider with a fondness for metal? that sounds like a magic card.
I need this. Looks like a mix of Shadowrun and torment.
im glad to see this 1 again

31:00 Whenever I summon the flesh worm, I'm never turned off.
I found out shock will freeze enemies for a few seconds allowing you to wail on them with melee... just FYI
Ahh yes, the O-positive reviewed game from my Wishlist. Still waiting for the full release of this one. Come on dev, don't take 5 years.
making games is hard
Feels a bit like real-time Underrail. Looking forward to the final release!
Damn you got your nomeclature down with all that fleshpunk dieselpunk stuff lol
Dude, you kill me when you don't see the promps in the corners
This is one of those games that the world just instantly suck you in.
this looks simply superb
i bought this game because it is so flipping nuts. i'm not at all disappointed and can't wait until devs finish out all the quests. :)
You're adorable when talking about empathy

Finally... a quick start.
So you have to dodge attacks a lot in this game compared to others where you can take the brunt of the dmg?
I am definitely getting this one, but probably later....
Say "within the confines of the game" one more time! I dare you! I double dare you! 😜😜🤣

Oh that's a headband I thought your guys was a breen from Star Trek
I don't understand how Splat has not reached anywhere near Total biscuit levels the formula is very similar and he makes it work well.
Didn't this game have the passive route? I think those NPC attack him because he draws his weapon out.
HE mentioned Baldurs Gate, instalike
Something about it reminds me of Hyper Light Drifter.
DaDamn has it been a year since Splat last reviewed this? It looks about the same since the last review. Have the devs been pushing out a lot of updates, or is it slow moving on the progress?
Original Baldur's Gate actually didn't have item highlighting from a button.
