Ok, I am 81 years old, Back in the dark ages, I was a division 1 player but now I don’t have the strength to get the ball to the goal from the free throw line, so I started shooting with 2 hands. My form is to get the guide hand to work exactly like the right hand so the follow through is exactly the same for both hands so now I can make a respectable percentage 3 or 4 feet beyond the free throw line. I am just trying to shoot around with my grandsons. Just wondering if any of your readers had similar experience.
Omg it actually worked , I can see a real improvement, the thing that ruined my shooting form was the wrist, i had break it even more like you did and now I notice a real accuracy improvement
You guys deserve atleast ten million more . You‘re a whole group of coaches for basketball players and your videos are amazing . I started basketball and had the ugliest shooting now it‘s decent . Still not good but much better . I don‘t have a basketball and I only play it at school . And because of this I can‘t do your exercises and even without it helped me so much . So thank you for your great videos ❤❤
buddy if you’ve been playing since 7 and stay consistent and play 3-4x a week you will get good, make sure you get some nice healthy food in and you sleep 8 hours a night. Keep your body healthy and agile and lessen how much junk you eat
@@ikobobiskinghey I know this is 3 months later, but I would tell you to not worry about it. Until you’re strong enough to shoot 3s with good form every time, don’t shoot them. Shoot where you can use good form from. The strength comes with age. You just need to wait. If you shoot from far enough away that your form gets worse, it can make your form worse even for shots you are strong enough for. So trust me, don’t shoot shots you’re not strong enough for. You will get strong enough when you get older.

How to do with topspin bcuz for me its easier but i cant really find my placement. I cant find 4he flaw neither. For me topspin is Just more comfortable
Yo thank u so much for the vid! But is it possible to give a detailed breakdown of the U shape method? (Namely the transition from the U to the release square to the basket) ❤
Do it broski I’m not fat or overweight but I haven’t been active in so long ya know. It gets you moving and it’s one of the easiest sports to get into especially if you find a court that’s welcoming to beginners.
My classmates do shooting the wrong position they use 2 hands when they shoot and i know it is more easy when you use 2 hands but i do it the right way thanks for it.
Hello, great video! I just have a problem where when i shoot my guidehands happen to go to the right and like make an X with shooting hand and guide hand ( im a right hand player) Please help me fix this, i shoot pretty good but im worried in the future its gonna mess up my shot when i get to the higher leagues.
Normally I shoot with my ball going up through the centre instead of my dominant hand side, but I think this worsens my shot, since one of my eyes are not able to see the rim when I release. Should I stick with my initial form or change it up?
Honestly I’m the type of person who preaches just do you. The cleanest form doesn’t always equal the best shot. That being said you should switch it up!!! There’s a reason most NBA players have the typical shooting form. It’s what works best for most! If you had to search up this video and ask this question in the comment it means you need a change. It comes with time and it’s a pain to redo your whole jump shot, but it’s definitely worth it! Keep grinding man!!
Try setting the ball slightly on the side of your head like how to Steph curry does it. At first gonna feel weird but you gotta build the muscle memory I use to have the same problem until I readjusted my form instead of straight in the middle mine is slightly towards my left side sense I’m a lefty
Very great insightful video , the only 1 thing I disagree with is to put your strong hand's leg in front because it's put you out of balance as opposed to 1 feet 🦶 next to the other ...
Okay here's a question I've always had. Can you be a great shooter if you have small hands? As we know, typically basketball players are big, long guys. Genetically gifted in that way. I'm 5'10" with small hands.
Whenever I release the bal from that height, I never seem to have the strength to shoot it from behind the three point line. Is this because my legs aren’t in sequence?
I agree with you, I can never seem to shoot accurately behind the three point line. The aim for me is really good, but the strength needs working on. I asked one of my friends about this, since he has really good shooting ability and I’ve seen him shoot halfcourts before, and he told me it was about the arm strength and all that. I’m not sure about the legs but my friend told me it was the hands.. but im not sure if he’s a reliable source.. just telling you what I know 😂
Either your set point is to high or your not adding enough legs and arm strength. If you’re gonna shoot further you want to have a low set point but not so low you mess up how you form looks just not placed as high as you would normally have it when shooting close to the rim.
I am a new hooper like when I was kid I had surgery so I couldn't do sports until I was 10 but I still didn't hoop till today since it summer I wanna try new things
Nice, but use of legs should have been included, especially as younger players with a lack of physical strength was mentioned (in relation to the guide hand problem leading to two handed shooting). See at 5:17 how the coaches heels come way off the ground even on a short shot. Young kids are going to struggle if they're using just their arms or upper body.
Any videos for people like me? That shoots with the right hand but i'm left handed and my dominant eye is left. Still cant figure out my shot and form 😭
Hi bro I once saw that great shooters like trae and steph they don't always load their wrists, instead put it on the side or top and load it on the way up. I heard it's because of our body's muscles not being build to generate as much power when the wrist is loaded. Is this true and can I do this as well? Because loading my wrist actually feels really stiff to me
Loading the wrists is a very good thing but don’t OVERLOAD ur wrists to the point it doesn’t feel comfortable. Just load your wrists to your personal preference/comfortability and go from there
Im surprised more coaches aren't teaching players to do 1 handed shots. If you think about it most players dont shoot well either because they cant balance the ball well in their hands while in their shot path thus they cant shoot straight, or they arent strong enough with 1 arms so things like pushing the ball too hard or offhand comes into play.
Are you using your legs and arms at the same time to generate power? Is so than maybe your set point to high needs to be lower try lowering little by little until you find your sweet spot maybe that help hard to give good tips without a video of your form
Idk why every tutorial I watch on how to shoot says put your index and middle finger on the air pump hole that makes sense but not really because if someone passes it you gotta line it up on the air pump hole

The fact that at 81 you are still going on the court to play with your grandsons is amazing.

Any tips how to shoot with the base of your finger tips and how to release while following through straight also how to flick it at the same time
You can also use your middle finger, works better for certain players (definitely including me)

I just needed help with hand placement on the ball because I keep on changing where I put my hand on the ball

Yes, it's all legs and how smooth your overall motion is.

Vidoe for smaller guards to be more physical and dominate please.
Easy solution... Get taller
weight room
Great job❤
Weight room and this is coming from a short guard I started 4 months ago and I've been more physical in games
If you want to have more physical presence, I'm afraid the only solution is hitting the weight room in the gym.

Loading ur wrists too much makes ur hand feel stiff but just loading not too much makes it a lot more bettwr
