The most amazing thing about this video is how you fit in the Kayak with the size of your balls. A great example as why I enjoy watching and showing your videos to friends, the amount of cool while the shark is next to you and then proceed to get back the lure is amazing.
Lol, says "don't do anything stupid" to the shark, while reaching for the shark's mouth while in the ocean, alone in a plastic kayak in order to save a fishing lure. Love it :)
agreed! Me, personally, while love fishing, I'd never be in a kayak (kudos to those that do, looks like fun...) and for me, if I saw a shark on the line, I'd probably toss the whole damn rod in the water....Ciao Shark!! lol
Leaving a big hook in a shark is serious animal cruelty. You can search on the internet and find many many photos of sharks with broken jaws and severely deformed faces due to hooks left in them. Those are probably the lucky ones that didn't die of infection. If you don't try to get that hook out you're an ignorant selfish piece of shit.
I never thought I'd be into fishing videos but you caught my attention! Lol. I was flipping out watching you pull the hook out omg heart pounding lol. Pretty darn impressive!! 😉
Steve, you're one of the very few guys on RUclips I think to myself... "I'd love to fish and hang out with guy". Love what you're doing, love your attitude and approach on daily life.
Honestly best kayak fishing channel on this platform at the moment, as long as you keep those videos pumping your always gonna have my like and you've gained a new subscriber. Amazed how your not at 1mill with videos like this
I keep telling people to get those big numbers I am going to have to dye my hair blonde and wear a thong. I'm not at that stage yet. I'll just keep fishing regular for now. Glad you liked the videos.
Thanks Zetterberg. I just treat them like a dog. Some are just nosy, some are just agitated and you better not mess with them, and some will just bite you for looking at them. Always respect, but not afraid.
What kind of shark was that? Not sure if comes up in later videos but a gaff is handy to remove hooks quickly and easily. And from afar! Helpful sometimes it looks like!
This is no joke fighting a beast sitting on your butt with your legs and feet level stretched straight out. All arms and a kettle bit of back work, great job brother
Jim Deecken that’s my biggest fear with blues too. i’m afraid ill get hooked and the yellow-eyed devil will begin thrashing around lol. i bought 7.5 inch aluminum pliers because i like having fingers,
What happens if a shark bites your line, won't that thing flip over? Just started viewing ur channel awesome vids but my curiosity is full speed so I hope u don't mind the basic questions I don't fish so I'm pretty green
I'm a little unfamiliar with kayak fishing video's. But enjoy your's very much. Would you please care to share what brand your outrigger is? Is it custom, Did you build it :)
Those are Moon Jelly Fish. My favorite time of year when they are around. The little minnows love hiding in them and the Blackfins are always around them.
I share your disdain for Treble Hooks. I found the Rapala Xrap Saltwater Xrap Subwalk with two, single hooks, one fore and one aft on the lure. SXRSB-7 is the # on the box. I tossed it at some schoolie Mahi a few days ago and walked it back to the boat, and they slaugtered it.....
beautiful 🦈 , what kind was it, a white tip? think your gonna need a BIGGER kayak! lol. it may be beautiful ( ocean) BUT! if I ever tried to kayak ,it will be in the lake...never, EVER the ocean!!
I hope Off Shore angler made good on that crap rod, I use the old penn slammer rods (white & black) they're broom sticks but they can take a lot of abuse! Keep the videos coming!
Yea, they were cool about it. I had my video on the ready if they gave me any crap about how I broke it. They just swapped it out so that worked out. Will do, thanks for watching and commenting.
Just found your videos a week ago. Great stuff! I'll be down this May,have a couple kayaks in BPK, was trying to get an idea how to fish from them in the Keys. The videos are great, your setup is cool. What model hobie?
Thanks Steve. Lots of good water all around BPK. Piner Wahoo on Florida Sportsman is a very knowledgeable guy up in that area. It is a 2012 Adventure Island. Full sail but I just use the one outrigger with the motor.
Thanks for mentioning Piner Wahoo. A day with a pro would definitely move me along the learning curve quicker than the trial and error method. Bulk of my fishing has been surfcasting for striped bass off Long Island NY beaches. Kayak fishing the Keys is a totally different animal. I have a hobie outback setup for fishing, with a little fishing experience in Long Island South Bay waters. The outback will be staying home , We have a hobie Rev11 and an ocean yak in BPK, I'll be sharing with my brother, nether setup yet for fishing.I am wondering though, how much of a difference the experience will be without the extra range a motor offers. In the meantime Im totally enjoying your videos, they offer a wealth of info for someone like me. Not only the catching but the cooking!
Great video. I do have one major concern...handling sharks that close. I mean, suppose you hadn't drained him to docile in the fight? Lacerated left hand situation? This comes to mind when I see a lot of offshore kayak fishermen out solo. One bad enough you have to self administer some sort of stop gap or either bleed out before help arrives? I know you carry coms and have a motor if you get in trouble, but do you carry pressure dressings? Kotex and electrical tape would seem to work in a pinch. Worked for me once when I cut my knee with a hatchet. Drove myself to the ER.
Lots of rope and clothing for lacerations. This was a bit different in that for one, usually you don't get them up because it is rare to hook them in a spot that they can't bite through. Second, I had to get that rod tip back so I could get an exchange. I didn't know how strict they were going to be about exchanging a basically brand new rod. Third, tiring them out is really key. I land a lot of big Tarpon so it is not much different. You just have to play them out to the point that they aren't going to be making any drastic surges.
I'm not a fisher but was it really worth risking getting bitten to get your "jig" back or whatever? Is that an expensive item? Couldn't just cut the line?
Hello! New subcriber here. I admire your bravery and talent! Calm when facing sharks even! I love fishing. Fishing is my passion. Could i ask how do you muster the courage to hold a living fish for the first time? I've been fishing for more than 10 years yet still i don't have any courage to touch a living fish. All i do is fish and pass the fish back to whoever is with me to hold the fish. Thank you!
It's part of the sport. To be really involved you have to do everything. I learn a lot by the design of the fish, how it fights, what parts will hurt you, how it is safe to hold, the best way to release it unharmed. It is all part of the sport. For Sharks, I treat them just like they are dogs. Some dogs will bite, some are just nosy. They are all different.
Best Shark fight on youtube. We cheered for you!!!!! That was so awesome. I'm so pumped after watching this. Please more videos this was amazing. Set up a go fund me or a way we can contribute for gear and stuff or send you stuff. Thanks for the entertainment.
Hi Steve, Don't they serve shark in the restaurants near you? I know it would be a bit of job dragging that big jamoke all the way home but couldnt you make some money risking your neck (or should I say hand), just to get your lure and your tip back from that guy?
That drum roll tail beat on the first fish was a dead give away. I'd advise 'yakkers to be very careful trying to unhook big sharks. Not bad with a single hook but with multiple hooks, if the shark shakes and hooks you, he can pull you overboard very easily. Not a good thought.

They are just big doggies. You just have to respect them but they mainly are pretty docile. Just don't piss them off.
Lol, says "don't do anything stupid" to the shark, while reaching for the shark's mouth while in the ocean, alone in a plastic kayak in order to save a fishing lure. Love it :)
agreed! Me, personally, while love fishing, I'd never be in a kayak (kudos to those that do, looks like fun...) and for me, if I saw a shark on the line, I'd probably toss the whole damn rod in the water....Ciao Shark!! lol

He keeps the shark too tired so it hasn't enough force to attack his hand, before he catches the bait back. Good job!👌
It was like his brain was trying to tell him lol , Free ticket to bleeding out of bit
Jackson Howell true, but dying because of it would be stupid. Definetly try but don’t die.
Easily one of the best yak fishin channels on RUclips. Keep em coming!!
Thanks Shimano. I'll keep pumping them out.
I agree. I look forward to Steve's video's like I used to wait for Sundays to see the Sopranos. Don't jump the shark like they did ;-)

It takes a certain level of crazy to do what you did. I never wanted a jig back quite that much. You sure made this one a memorable video.
Fast hands. Fast hands.

Mad props for actually taking the hook out. Don't see that very often! Way to go!
These are amazing videos of you perfectly utilizing your amazing kayak. Please keep them coming.
Thanks for the compliment Drew. I will.
You need more subs because your vids are awesome
Well, have you subbed? No worries, subs are coming. Just put out good interesting content and people will find you.
lol kind of a dick response
you are a stud Bro, it would have been easy to cut the line and move along but you saved the shark and your lure, excellent, hat tip to you
Thanks. Fast hands is my super power. LOL.
Honestly best kayak fishing channel on this platform at the moment, as long as you keep those videos pumping your always gonna have my like and you've gained a new subscriber. Amazed how your not at 1mill with videos like this

Key West Kayak Fishing yeah, she's in your neck of the woods isn't she?
You must be one very happy person, those trips are like the best therapy life can offer
Never. Never. Hear me complaining. I know I have it good. This is actually my second go around as I missed it. Keys disease they call it.
when i saw you got that lure back i felt like i was watching a touch down in the super bowl ! great work man !
Impressive. You sir have brass balls.Great channel. Passing on your knowledge. Not forced, natural teacher
Thanks Zetterberg. I just treat them like a dog. Some are just nosy, some are just agitated and you better not mess with them, and some will just bite you for looking at them. Always respect, but not afraid.
I never fished in my life but I might after watching these fine videos!
What kind of shark was that? Not sure if comes up in later videos but a gaff is handy to remove hooks quickly and easily. And from afar! Helpful sometimes it looks like!
I just found your channel. It is one of the best kayak fishing channels on You Tube. You have a new subscriber!!!!
Welcome to the channel. Gotta lot of videos to catch up on. LOL.
This is no joke fighting a beast sitting on your butt with your legs and feet level stretched straight out. All arms and a kettle bit of back work, great job brother
do you use a EPIRB? i've heard not to go out with only one motor..... if it failed could you paddle back?
Just found your channel last night
1) you're crazy
2) best fishing channel on the net! If you ain't cussing you ain't fishing! Keep it up buddy!
Welcome to the channel tara. Just have the passion.
So many questions lol...how far out are you? You're not scared of falling off the yak when you grab the rod withfish on without stopping the engine?
Solid kayak, kept you afloat despite those heavy, massive brass balls.
This is an awesome channel!! Been a fisherwoman since I was a kid and, this is my kind of fishing... 😍👍
I was on edge watching the fast escelating one. Great videos man, I never knew I liked watching people fish out in the open water!
Glad you liked it.
Could've fucked up your hand good dehooking the shark you're actually insane, lmfao. Good vid.
Jim Deecken that’s my biggest fear with blues too. i’m afraid ill get hooked and the yellow-eyed devil will begin thrashing around lol. i bought 7.5 inch aluminum pliers because i like having fingers,
Keep up the work your super entertaining and watching you makes me feel like I’m with my uncle that is no longer with me.
Awesome videos mate. Please keep it up. Really enjoy watching your videos! Watching from the Philipines
What an epic fight. Proud of ya!
Appreciate it Fidel.
I'm from Colorado, I wish we had that kind of fishing around here! Amazing videos and I subbed!
Thanks Nathan. Appreciate it. Colorado mountains are awesome.
Love your channel man, how about a tour of your kayak?
What happens if a shark bites your line, won't that thing flip over? Just started viewing ur channel awesome vids but my curiosity is full speed so I hope u don't mind the basic questions I don't fish so I'm pretty green
That answers my question
With the outriggers, it is very stable and the reels drag is totally adjustable so you can keep it light and not pull so hard.
didn't realize you had a motor on that thing? thats sick, what kind?
I kayak big island and after seeing you release that monster I just may try that. Really cool for the shark. Nice hammering
This reminds me of that song,
"Cant help it if I think your funny when your mad ,try hard not to laugh but I feel bad".. hehe haha
Steve have you thought about doing a fishing guide type thing. You know showing kayaker where to go and how to . ?
That's my channel. Guides don't get to fish. LOL.
Are you half-Japanese? And how did you get start kayak fishing? And how could shark would jig?
I'm a little unfamiliar with kayak fishing video's. But enjoy your's very much. Would you please care to share what brand your outrigger is? Is it custom, Did you build it :)
great job love the video true badass Fisher men in the keys
Awsome job, catch and release!! 👍🙏
and how do you flip the kayak when you need to having that thing on the side ?
What Rod are you using with the torium?
did anyone see the jelly fish
Those are Moon Jelly Fish. My favorite time of year when they are around. The little minnows love hiding in them and the Blackfins are always around them.
The more pertinent question is, "did you notice that the Moon Jelly was looking at you"?
Do you have a video explaining the set up u have regarding ur kayak & other accessories?
Here you go. ruclips.net/video/r7ZEqCVuk_M/видео.html
My rigs are in the description.

I’m an ocean coward by nature.. but, you surely do inspire me.. Great video 🦈 tank for real!
effin' fudgers! lol great vid man! you need that kage spear from proyaker too..
I feel your pain about that rod tip..Had 10' Brand New Ocean Master Surf rod do the same thing to me when I hooked up with a Big Bull Red...
You sir are a brave man that was wicked ✊🏾
Shark -0 / Pissed Fishing Samurai -1
You betcha. Karate hands.
Hey man, you need longer pliers. Good luck fishin!
What type of shark is that?!?! It looks like a reef shark but its sooooo big
Great video. Loved it!!!
great job man love the videos
Thanks for watching aundrai. Glad you liked it.
that huge jelly fish at the start said hi LOL
beautiful 🦈 , what kind was it, a white tip? think your gonna need a BIGGER kayak! lol. it may be beautiful ( ocean) BUT! if I ever tried to kayak ,it will be in the lake...never, EVER the ocean!!
I have always been confused, what is the difference between a Blackfin tuna and a yellowfin tuna?
Related but just a different type. Yellowfin get bigger. Blackfins are the smallest of the species. Both taste great and fun to fight.
Key West Kayak Fishing thanks for clearing that up for me! Nice videos, I love your channel and fishing!
who makes that kayak, and the set up off the side?
Hobie Adventure Island. All one unit.
Will do, thanks for watching and commenting.

nice little shot of a jellyfish floating by.

I have floaties.
very impressed with the fishing line. and reel.
Appreciate it Marlon.
This was a rough day for you. Loved the video. Very entertaining.

Fast hands no worries.
What Kind of shark is that? My gut says Bull but im not sure.
Silkys. Bull's have kind of a blunt nose. More squared off. These are a bit more pointy.
Absolute madman!
What lure is the best for sharks?
The colorful language makes it all worth watching.
This account deserves a mil easily
I vote for that. Thanks for watching.
holy moly that was one big
jelly fish!
Thresher shark awesome makes really good flake nice smoked too

why do you prefer NOT to use a gaff?
what size line ur using there for the fishing
For my jigging rig, I use 65lb Power Pro and a long leader of around 20-25ft of 40-60lb mono.

Key West Kayak Fishing Thanks for the tips! Whoever i asked will just say "just hold". Good day! :)
Dude that was awesome.
Thanks Mark. Fast hands. Fast hands.
Can you post a video of your kayak setup
Best Shark fight on youtube. We cheered for you!!!!! That was so awesome. I'm so pumped after watching this. Please more videos this was amazing. Set up a go fund me or a way we can contribute for gear and stuff or send you stuff. Thanks for the entertainment.
My lower back aches just watching this.
Yea, wreck fishing = pain.
Especially when there's something big like a shark on your line
What type of shark?
Hey do you have to register your kayak?
Yup. Just got my notice. $13.
What species of shark is that?
Sandbar Shark
What the heck do you do if you hook a big bull shark? That jig can't be worth that much.
holly shit if i was you i wouldve thrown the whole freaking rod in the water and go back home hahahah
Yea, you have to be used to playing with them. Still 8 miles from home so no use panicking.
Great video, thank you for sharing.
what a cool yak setup. Greetings from Detroit!
Hey Detroit. Welcome. Thanks. It gets me out there and more importantly back.
Hi Steve,
Don't they serve shark in the restaurants near you? I know it would be a bit of job dragging that big jamoke all the way home but couldnt you make some money risking your neck (or should I say hand), just to get your lure and your tip back from that guy?
That water is absolutely beautiful
Yea, we have it nice over here. Except when the wind blows.
Jeremy Wade probably jealous af. Very nicely done, Sir.
Good job ,great video, thanks
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays (Marco from the Netherlands)
You have a motor on your yak?
Yup. ruclips.net/video/r7ZEqCVuk_M/видео.html
Huge laugh at 13:13. Made my day.
That drum roll tail beat on the first fish was a dead give away. I'd advise 'yakkers to be very careful trying to unhook big sharks. Not bad with a single hook but with multiple hooks, if the shark shakes and hooks you, he can pull you overboard very easily. Not a good thought.
omg so freaking brave to dehook it @@ good job !
