- Joe Biden has given orders that the US Military must now do what Hamas has refused to do, namely, BUILD SOMETHING USEFUL for the Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip. Is this:
1. Fundamental human decency?
2. A very poor way to conduct a siege? or
3. A cynical attempt to win back some of the Arab-American vote in Michigan?

The word Palestinian wasn't even used until 1965 by Yasser Arafat. Also, among Palestinian refugees will undoubtedly be Hamas, and Hamas is supported by Iran. None of the other Arab countries like Iran either.

And someone pointed out, that Hamas will still have control of the supplies after there loaded into the trucks. They'll take what they want and sell the rest. Nothing will change, but the route of the supplies.

They aren't hungry. Social media posts from Gaza in Arabic are bragging. There's no hunger there for the past 2 weeks. They're even throwing out American food because they don't enjoy it. It was a major social media blitz of Gazans throwing American food packages in the garbage.

I have seen videos of Israel sending trucks of food to Gaza that were hijacked by Hamas and driven away. I have seen videos of merchants in Gaza forced by Hamas to sell the food, which should have been free, at ruinous prices to fund the war for Hamas. What is to prevent them from doing it again?
My father participated in the Berlin Airlift. He also brought candy bars from America to the German kids.

"Humanitarian aid" in the form of food, medicine and supplies; has been pouring into the Gaza for decades. Often, those goods are sold by hamas, and the money used to buy construction materials, to build tunnels and fighting installations. Water pipes, sent there to upgrade the infrastructure, were cut up and turned into rockets. It's one of many examples. PS: I would be entirely unsurprised to see hamas deliberately target US troops/personnel, should anyone go ashore; just for the photo ops they'd get from the pushback. PPS: You cannot just let the "palestinians" out, because none of the surrounding arab-muslim nations want them.

The way i understand it is that the US will build a floating pier out in the sea, not attached to land. It would be used to transfer goods from the big ship to smaller vessels that would then take the goods to shore.

I just looked at Google maps view of Gaza, and I saw several small piers along the coast. But what I didn't see is a single cargo ship. These people might as well live in the Sahara desert.

We're supposedly allied with Isreal so i want to know why we're doing this in the first place. You dont say you're allied with someone and then supply their enemy. If i was Isreal id tell the US that they either need to not do this or be declared enemies of Israel

Generally, you guys are much better prepared and have previously discussed an issue. Your points, especially the last point about this being a cynical play for votes in Dearbornistan, are valid, such as relief supplies to a beleaguered enemy under siege and the past experiment with Mulberry harbors (another Churchill project BTW), but you're missing a lot of context.
The Israelis are already providing more than enough supplies at the checkpoints. That is not the problem. Nobody will drive the trucks of supply where they need to go because Hamas kills the drivers and steals the supplies. Hamas even shoots women and kids trying to take supplies to survive.
Even if a pier or Mulberry were built,without "boots on the ground," who drives the supplies off the pier? Who distributes the food to those most in need? How will this be any different from tons of supplies at current entry points?
You briefly mentioned security, but in the speech, Biden promised the piers would also "provide refuge" for those wanting to escape violence. Put aside the logistical problem of housing hundreds of thousands of refugees on a temporary floating structure with no sanitation facilities (will they build a floating sewage processing plant too), how do they vet the people coming on the pier?
We know most Gazans (there is no such thing as a palestinian - state never existed, they are Arabs) passionately hate Israel and the US, but only some are willing to strap on a suicide vest. How do we screen them out?
How do we stop a terrorist from taking a mine and swimming out to the ship to blow it up?
The whole idea is impractical, doesn't address the actual problem, but does put all our people in grave danger, for what? For votes in Michigan who should already be in his pocket.

The RAF, with participation from Canucks, Aussies, Kiwis and South Africans played a major role in that effort to embarrass the Soviets into dropping the blockade. Even civilian operators were involved, many British.
The US did not do everything single handed as Hollywood would have you believe, and you, Bill, know better.
