Stephanie Morgenstern is simply iconic. Her delivery is on point regardless of the material she is given. She sounds the most mature, which is appropriate since she’s the first Sailor Scout to awaken. Some may complain she sounds too mature but I think it’s part of her charm. My personal fave. Emilie Barlowe - Sounds more girly compared to Morgenstern and is a better fit for Venus’s age. With the material for Season 3 and 4, Venus is usually more goofy, which Barlowe delivers. If only the rushed schedule didn’t hold her back, she could have worked out the shakiness and sometimes flat performance. Cherami Leigh - Possibly the best all-around voice for sounding young as well as balancing the goofy and mature side of Venus. In isolation she fits Venus to a T. However when mixed with the other cast, she sounds similar to Mars, Luna, and Mercury. Overall, Venus VAs has been solid throughout the series history. With each having their own strengths and weaknesses, but no less in character.
I like Emilie's voice since it definitely captures Minako's silly side and comedic timing. I like Stephanie Morgenstern a lot, but I feel like classic & R Minako was a much more earthy character than the funny, silly Minako we see starting with S where most of her episodes take a turn for the goofy. I think that Viz cast her really well since Cherami can pull off both silly and serious while still sounding very girlish and carefree.

Then later they changed her voice and she became a ditz and it was sometimes hard to watch. It was funny yes, but from how she was portrayed in the earlier seasons it was kind of a shock. For the character work, I feel like Stephanie did good with what she got and Emilie also did good with how Minako was later handled. Cherami can capture both her serious and silly side so I guess it all works out.

Stephanie has the most creative voice you can really feel life coming out of that character amazing talent. I would say Emilie did an amazing job as well, also maybe I watched too many cartoons but I swear Emilie's Venus voice acting @14:21 sounds like Francine from American Dad! lol
Rika - No debates, she is indeed Minako. The way she conveys her emotions are just amazing! Wish we could seen more serious Venus in 90s anime after Classic & R. Shizuka - She's good but lacks emotions at times. Stephanie - She sounds a bit boyish which is like Minako's personality in Codename: Sailor V & Sailor Moon manga. One of my favorites from DiC. Emilie - Love the way she pulls of Minako's goofy side, but Cloverway direction is meh. Lol Cherami - She's the perfect Venus you could ever had. A perfect mixture of Rika, Shizuka and Stephanie all one. I'm surprised to know she voiced Sarada, lol

I love Emilie-Claire's Minako. She captures the flighty, goofy nature of the character so well. Yeah, definitely my favorite of the bunch. The Japanese performances at the end of the first season always stick with me. 2:57 The creaky shouting at Usagi to not even *dream* of giving up followed by the absolutely *chilling* scream as Minako's pulled into the pit still hits me even as a grown-ass man.

Rica Fukami- Her voice, everything, is just amazing! She also made Venus my other favourite scout! (Rei and Ami are more of a favourite to me now but she's still a good character.) Shizuka Ito- She does good, her emotion is perfect, but will never replace Rica-sempai. Stephanie Morgenstern- Potrayed her perfectly, her voice sounds relaxing, one of my favourite English voice actresses for Venus. I’m a fan of the original dub. Ever since I was a kid and I love how when they did the casting they tried to paired them with their character best. Still lango then isnt appreciated with this dub but at a young age I always remember running home after school to watch sailor moon cartoonetwork

Stephanie was excellent as Venus. But then again, the DiC cast was excellent in their roles. The one thing the DiC/Cwi dub absolutely does right, is making the characters personable and distinctive from each other, and they all come off as extremely memorable. Tracey/Terri as Moon, Karen as Mercury, Katie as Mars, Susan as Jupiter, and Steph as Venus. Even the Cwi crew, even though not as good as the DiC cast, was still very distinctive. They sound like real people you would talk to (Except Linda). VIZ sacrificed the personality and memorability of these characters at the altar of being "accurate" which is all the more disappointing because their cast is talented, but they were just not allowed to act and stretch their legs. Amanda is the only one who was seemingly permitted to be different as Jupiter. Cherami is totally fine as Venus, but it all ties into the issue of sounding much too similar to Mercury, Mars, and Moon. They all blend in with each other.
Fukami has a nice voice. She always have a very adaptive voice depending on the context. Ito also has a nice voice I love Morgenstern's voice. She makes Mina sound very nice and sometimes soothing. I don't mind Barlow. Leigh also has quite a nice voice.
In my opinion, Cherami Leigh is the best voice for Minako Aino. One fact nostalgic fans don't know is that real Sailor Moons wanted a true Sailor Moon experience with gays left alone and the show being a carboy copy of the Japanese original.
I liks Emilie-Claire a lot. I thought she conveyed Minako's dizziness while also giving her personality. She's definitely better as Minako's than Rei. Cherami Leigh is just adorable.

Havent Heard much from Emile-Claire Barlow venus sounds similar to her mars but not as good as for Stephanie & Cherami I think they both fit mina/Minako perfectly Stephanie may have a much more mature voice it was that help made her into the character that she is today she was like the veteran in the sailor guardians so it would make sense for her to have a more mature voice despite her and the other girls are all the same age which brings me to cherami love her as patti in soul eater and she didn't disappoint as venus either I believe she is the right person to succeed Stephanie Morgenstern unlike Stephanie she gives a more younger but energetic voice that we didn't see in either Stephanie or Emilie but nothing the less their both great venus's
Now folks, i’m only gonna comment this once because it’s my opinion. My heart goes out to the one and only Cherami Leigh, who i’ll just nickname “Madam Fantasia 2000”. From Minako, V, and big cheese Lucy, to the biggest anime character in Anime history, Cherami has the most cutest voices, a very big heart, and the most sweetest sweetest personality ever. These words and support made me become actual friends with Cherami, and to this day, i am just proud that we’re friends at all. She said to me that “I’m so thankful that you exist in this world.”, which made me cry so hard. I was struggling with self loathing at the time (i still do today), and when Cherami said those words to me, i now have a reason to keep smiling and breathing every day. I'm surprised at the favorite dub voices here. I always liked Barlow the best. I mean I met the character as Morgenstern so obviously there's some imprinting there, but I think Barlow did a much better performance throughout. Leigh's voice is synonymous with the character now since crystal and the redub but her rendition is very similar to Barlow's. And have you heard that girl sing jazz?

Fun fact for the Sailor Moon fans and the My Hero Acedamia fans: Cherami Leigh is the English VA for both Minako Aino and Pixiebob. Look it up. I mainly got curious about it after the one scene where Pixiebob sounded like Minako, but it blew my mind that she voiced both of them
I’ve been listening to clips of the Dic dub for months now and I only realized a day ago that Emilie is Courtney from Total Drama. Haha I grew up watching Total Drama in middle school so that made me so happy. I love her voice.
I'm not a fan of the DiC dub overall, but I love Stephanie Morgenstern as Minako. Chermami is good too and Emily isn't bad at all but Stephanie M. is the perfect Venus in my opinion. She's got the maturity and experience from being a senshi the longest yet she can still pull off her goofy/ditzy side when needed.
Thank you! I feel like Stephanie doesn't get enough credit for when she had silly moments. I thought she did those moments well and with her being the veteran senshi of the group the more mature and caring tone is perfect.

Cherami is my favourite English voice for Minako. Granted, she doesn't sound as unique as the amazing Rica Fukami but her voice fits nonetheless and she does a great job pulling off Minako's serious and more comedic moments. Emilie had a fitting voice but the direction let her down, particularly when she's voicing Sailor Venus where she sounded too high-pitched. Stephanie was better acting-wise, but I think her voice was too low for a quirky character who becomes increasingly goofy over the course of the series. I think she might've done a better job as Sailor Jupiter or even Luna if DiC actually acknowledged that she wasn't an old queen ( that's a female cat, should anyone ask ;) ).

This is a bit like the Dr. Who situation... A lot of it depends on WHO you heard first and WHAT version of the series you saw originally. Personally, I like Tom Baker (the Fourth Doctor) the best but I have nothing against anybody who likes another version of the Doctor better. Frankly, I also like the Fifth and Eleventh Doctors quite a bit, too... I really have not seen enough of Baker's predecessors and far too little of the guys that followed him aside from the Fifth Doctor. It's the same for multiple takes on the same animation... There's some anime that's been dubbed into English three times with different casts -- the example that pops off my head is the original Gatchaman. Third time was the charm -- they REALLY nailed it and got it right that time! The third dub is classy all the way. It's well-cast, it's well-directed, it's practically perfect and inspired me to watch HALF of the unedited Gatchaman in English... I hardly ever do that with most anime on home video! The previous two Gatchaman dubs -- UGH! And I grew up with those!!! They had some fine actors in them but the voice direction, script rewriting and editing were just awful on the first two tries at dubbing Gatchaman into English. Give it a few years down the road, and you notice things about the acting. Most shows, IF they're popular enough or somebody thinks they can recycle and STILL make some money off of them, will see two English dubs... maybe. It's happened with the Giant Robo OVA series, the original Macross (Robotech and ADV's ill-fated, inferior attempt at a more faithful Macross dub), several Lupin III feature movies have upwards of three English dubs now, and of course, the king for most numbers of dubs for individual TV episodes is probably Dragonball Z. DBZ has only been dubbed into English FOUR TIMES with the Ocean Studio cast and repeats of the Texas-based Funimation group for DVD and Blu ray releases of the Cartoon Network edited broadcast, the original unedited Funimation English version, a re-edited English remix for the Blu rays and Dragon Ball boxes, and of course, the Dragonball Z Kai remix which re-edited footage so much it was easier to bring the actors back into the studio and re-record their lines than try to edit from the existing session tapes! I probably forgot to include an English dub made specifically for Asian markets... They usually do one for more popular shows where they generally beat the American version to market by months or even years. Most people are not aware of this but Ranma 1/2 actually has TWO separate English dubs -- one for Asia (Animax broadcast), the other for North America using Canadian voice actors (like Sailor Moon and a lot of other anime did in the 1990s). I'm gonna stick my neck out and say that I prefer the original Japanese actress for Sailor Venus -- as well other voices from the original version, period... There's just something about her. A lot of those voices from the original Sailor Moon anime were iconic -- notice they didn't DARE recast Sailor Moon's role and stuck with the voice actress from the original series. Some of those other women STILL do voice acting to this day including especially Kotono Mitsuishi, the original Sailor Moon herself (who they wisely stuck with)! She did a sci-fi series some time ago that features probably her second best-known character, Misato Katsuragi (Evangelion). THAT was the series that convinced me that the lady can act because I hadn't seen any shows other than Excel Saga and Sailor Moon where she played comedic parts with a high-pitched tone. It's pretty much the same story with other members of that cast who played lead or main roles in Devil Hunter Yohko, Evangelion, and so on.. As far as the English dubs go, I do like Stephanie Morgenstern and don't believe the problem with the DiC dub has anything to do with her or most of the other actresses (although the casting for Luna -- she sounded TOO old in the DiC dub). It's the rewritten scripts and American-speak they forced the "Japanese Valley-girls" to say! It's an idiosyncracy with older dubs that were less concerned with being true to the source and more concerned about localization and getting the kids on board with the TV series so they could sell some toys. Sad but true... (And frankly, I think it's too bad the DiC dub ISN'T available on DVD now. It does have a charm of its own... Good news is that it lives on eternally on the Internet -- so long as someone keeps up a torrent somewhere! There's a great DOOM WAD that uses audio clips from DiC's Sailor Moon dub and redid the FPS player graphics to represent Sailor Moon herself... It's always funny to hear Terri Hawkes' Sailor Moon whining! The rest of the graphics in the SM Doom WAD are pretty much untouched unless somebody wants to take a stab at redoing all the Doom monsters with character sprites from the Sailor Moon video games -- which is a bitch-and-a-half. Trust me, I just got done with a Ranma DOOM mod and THAT one took me the better part of four months even WITH all the character sprites in front of me!) Cherami Leigh is a fine successor to the Sailor Venus role. If they ever DID a Codename: Sailor V anime follow-up to Sailor Moon Crystal -- which likely WON'T happen; the original series was far more popular and the best time to do an OVA or TV series focusing Sailor V would have been in the mid-1990s -- they should just keep Cherami on as the voice. I do like this character a bit... She was short-changed by the original TV series... She was basically the prototype for Sailor Moon and I frankly liked her Sailor V outfit better than her orange team uniform. Would have been nice to see a Sailor V anime but, again, probably ain't happening.
Can't really say much on both Rica Fukami & Shizuka Ito's voice because they sound kinda similar so it's pretty good in my own book. Stephanie Morgenstern was actually kinda decent for the DiC dub If it weren't for the script that is DiC did, it would have been far better for me but she does it fine. Emilie-Clarie Barlow is ok, nothing else to say really. Cherami Leign is a solid pick for me. It's got that nice balance of fun & a serious character she has.
Rica, the Japanese voices will always be the best, but for the Dub Morgenstern's voice will take the cake, she sounds like the English version of Minako, in general for the voices the Dic Dub nailed it, but the Americanization and lack of faithulness to the original is what killed it, I wish they were re hired in the Viz Dub
I really love all of the voices for mina/minako, but my favorite voice actress for her is Stephanie Morgenstern from the first and second seasons of the 90's dub version of sailor moon. She did really great as mina. I really didn't like emilie's voice for her from the cloverway dub of sailor moon seasons three and four to be honest. cherami leigh also did a good job as mina/minako from the viz dub version of sailor moon too.

Shizuka Ito- She does good, her emotion is perfect, but will never replace Rica-sempai.
Stephanie Morgenstern- Potrayed her perfectly, her voice sounds relaxing, one of my favourite English voice actresses for Venus.
Emilie-Claire Barlow- Her humor is good, but her acting direction was to bad, but I don't blame her, she did do her best.
Cherami Leigh-She is a perfect fit for Minako/Venus! She did the humor perfectly! And including the voice! She is also my favourite English voice actress for Minako/Venus!
I’m a fan of the original dub. Ever since I was a kid and I love how when they did the casting they tried to paired them with their character best. Still lango then isnt appreciated with this dub but at a young age I always remember running home after school to watch sailor moon cartoonetwork

Stephanie was excellent as Venus. But then again, the DiC cast was excellent in their roles.
The one thing the DiC/Cwi dub absolutely does right, is making the characters personable and distinctive from each other, and they all come off as extremely memorable. Tracey/Terri as Moon, Karen as Mercury, Katie as Mars, Susan as Jupiter, and Steph as Venus. Even the Cwi crew, even though not as good as the DiC cast, was still very distinctive. They sound like real people you would talk to (Except Linda).
VIZ sacrificed the personality and memorability of these characters at the altar of being "accurate" which is all the more disappointing because their cast is talented, but they were just not allowed to act and stretch their legs. Amanda is the only one who was seemingly permitted to be different as Jupiter. Cherami is totally fine as Venus, but it all ties into the issue of sounding much too similar to Mercury, Mars, and Moon. They all blend in with each other.

Havent Heard much from Emile-Claire Barlow venus sounds similar to her mars but not as good as for Stephanie & Cherami I think they both fit mina/Minako perfectly Stephanie may have a much more mature voice it was that help made her into the character that she is today she was like the veteran in the sailor guardians so it would make sense for her to have a more mature voice despite her and the other girls are all the same age which brings me to cherami love her as patti in soul eater and she didn't disappoint as venus either I believe she is the right person to succeed Stephanie Morgenstern unlike Stephanie she gives a more younger but energetic voice that we didn't see in either Stephanie or Emilie but nothing the less their both great venus's

Now folks, i’m only gonna comment this once because it’s my opinion. My heart goes out to the one and only Cherami Leigh, who i’ll just nickname “Madam Fantasia 2000”. From Minako, V, and big cheese Lucy, to the biggest anime character in Anime history, Cherami has the most cutest voices, a very big heart, and the most sweetest sweetest personality ever. These words and support made me become actual friends with Cherami, and to this day, i am just proud that we’re friends at all. She said to me that “I’m so thankful that you exist in this world.”, which made me cry so hard. I was struggling with self loathing at the time (i still do today), and when Cherami said those words to me, i now have a reason to keep smiling and breathing every day. I'm surprised at the favorite dub voices here. I always liked Barlow the best. I mean I met the character as Morgenstern so obviously there's some imprinting there, but I think Barlow did a much better performance throughout. Leigh's voice is synonymous with the character now since crystal and the redub but her rendition is very similar to Barlow's.

I was able to clock Emilie the moment I heard her as Venus because I recognized her as Courtney from TDI, but I think this was such a good role for her. She’s so theatrical and funny and something about her tone fits very well.

1. Cherami - She sounds super sweet and compassionate, while also pulling off a serious tone, but she can also be totally ditzy if she wants to be.
2. Stephanie - I mean, she's not bad, I just don't think her voice fits Venus. She sounds WAAAY too old.

I'm not a fan of the DiC dub overall, but I love Stephanie Morgenstern as Minako. Chermami is good too and Emily isn't bad at all but Stephanie M. is the perfect Venus in my opinion. She's got the maturity and experience from being a senshi the longest yet she can still pull off her goofy/ditzy side when needed.
Thank you! I feel like Stephanie doesn't get enough credit for when she had silly moments. I thought she did those moments well and with her being the veteran senshi of the group the more mature and caring tone is perfect.

Stephanie Morgenstern is the best Sailor Venus. I wish DiC cast would finish off where they left off in Sailor Moon series.
Cherami is my favourite English voice for Minako. Granted, she doesn't sound as unique as the amazing Rica Fukami but her voice fits nonetheless and she does a great job pulling off Minako's serious and more comedic moments. Emilie had a fitting voice but the direction let her down, particularly when she's voicing Sailor Venus where she sounded too high-pitched. Stephanie was better acting-wise, but I think her voice was too low for a quirky character who becomes increasingly goofy over the course of the series. I think she might've done a better job as Sailor Jupiter or even Luna if DiC actually acknowledged that she wasn't an old queen ( that's a female cat, should anyone ask ;) ).

This is a bit like the Dr. Who situation...
A lot of it depends on WHO you heard first and WHAT version of the series you saw originally.
Personally, I like Tom Baker (the Fourth Doctor) the best but I have nothing against anybody who likes another version of the Doctor better. Frankly, I also like the Fifth and Eleventh Doctors quite a bit, too... I really have not seen enough of Baker's predecessors and far too little of the guys that followed him aside from the Fifth Doctor.
It's the same for multiple takes on the same animation... There's some anime that's been dubbed into English three times with different casts -- the example that pops off my head is the original Gatchaman. Third time was the charm -- they REALLY nailed it and got it right that time! The third dub is classy all the way. It's well-cast, it's well-directed, it's practically perfect and inspired me to watch HALF of the unedited Gatchaman in English... I hardly ever do that with most anime on home video! The previous two Gatchaman dubs -- UGH! And I grew up with those!!! They had some fine actors in them but the voice direction, script rewriting and editing were just awful on the first two tries at dubbing Gatchaman into English.
Give it a few years down the road, and you notice things about the acting.
Most shows, IF they're popular enough or somebody thinks they can recycle and STILL make some money off of them, will see two English dubs... maybe. It's happened with the Giant Robo OVA series, the original Macross (Robotech and ADV's ill-fated, inferior attempt at a more faithful Macross dub), several Lupin III feature movies have upwards of three English dubs now, and of course, the king for most numbers of dubs for individual TV episodes is probably Dragonball Z. DBZ has only been dubbed into English FOUR TIMES with the Ocean Studio cast and repeats of the Texas-based Funimation group for DVD and Blu ray releases of the Cartoon Network edited broadcast, the original unedited Funimation English version, a re-edited English remix for the Blu rays and Dragon Ball boxes, and of course, the Dragonball Z Kai remix which re-edited footage so much it was easier to bring the actors back into the studio and re-record their lines than try to edit from the existing session tapes! I probably forgot to include an English dub made specifically for Asian markets... They usually do one for more popular shows where they generally beat the American version to market by months or even years. Most people are not aware of this but Ranma 1/2 actually has TWO separate English dubs -- one for Asia (Animax broadcast), the other for North America using Canadian voice actors (like Sailor Moon and a lot of other anime did in the 1990s).
I'm gonna stick my neck out and say that I prefer the original Japanese actress for Sailor Venus -- as well other voices from the original version, period... There's just something about her. A lot of those voices from the original Sailor Moon anime were iconic -- notice they didn't DARE recast Sailor Moon's role and stuck with the voice actress from the original series. Some of those other women STILL do voice acting to this day including especially Kotono Mitsuishi, the original Sailor Moon herself (who they wisely stuck with)! She did a sci-fi series some time ago that features probably her second best-known character, Misato Katsuragi (Evangelion). THAT was the series that convinced me that the lady can act because I hadn't seen any shows other than Excel Saga and Sailor Moon where she played comedic parts with a high-pitched tone. It's pretty much the same story with other members of that cast who played lead or main roles in Devil Hunter Yohko, Evangelion, and so on..
As far as the English dubs go, I do like Stephanie Morgenstern and don't believe the problem with the DiC dub has anything to do with her or most of the other actresses (although the casting for Luna -- she sounded TOO old in the DiC dub). It's the rewritten scripts and American-speak they forced the "Japanese Valley-girls" to say! It's an idiosyncracy with older dubs that were less concerned with being true to the source and more concerned about localization and getting the kids on board with the TV series so they could sell some toys. Sad but true...
(And frankly, I think it's too bad the DiC dub ISN'T available on DVD now. It does have a charm of its own... Good news is that it lives on eternally on the Internet -- so long as someone keeps up a torrent somewhere! There's a great DOOM WAD that uses audio clips from DiC's Sailor Moon dub and redid the FPS player graphics to represent Sailor Moon herself... It's always funny to hear Terri Hawkes' Sailor Moon whining! The rest of the graphics in the SM Doom WAD are pretty much untouched unless somebody wants to take a stab at redoing all the Doom monsters with character sprites from the Sailor Moon video games -- which is a bitch-and-a-half. Trust me, I just got done with a Ranma DOOM mod and THAT one took me the better part of four months even WITH all the character sprites in front of me!)
Cherami Leigh is a fine successor to the Sailor Venus role. If they ever DID a Codename: Sailor V anime follow-up to Sailor Moon Crystal -- which likely WON'T happen; the original series was far more popular and the best time to do an OVA or TV series focusing Sailor V would have been in the mid-1990s -- they should just keep Cherami on as the voice.
I do like this character a bit... She was short-changed by the original TV series... She was basically the prototype for Sailor Moon and I frankly liked her Sailor V outfit better than her orange team uniform. Would have been nice to see a Sailor V anime but, again, probably ain't happening.

Rica, the Japanese voices will always be the best, but for the Dub Morgenstern's voice will take the cake, she sounds like the English version of Minako, in general for the voices the Dic Dub nailed it, but the Americanization and lack of faithulness to the original is what killed it, I wish they were re hired in the Viz Dub

I really love all of the voices for mina/minako, but my favorite voice actress for her is Stephanie Morgenstern from the first and second seasons of the 90's dub version of sailor moon. She did really great as mina. I really didn't like emilie's voice for her from the cloverway dub of sailor moon seasons three and four to be honest. cherami leigh also did a good job as mina/minako from the viz dub version of sailor moon too.
