  • Tractor roll-overs are still a leading cause of agriculture-related fatalities in Canada. Using a roll-over protective structure or ROPS in combination with a seat belt is 99% effective at preventing such fatalities. A previous AgriSafety project designed a ROPS for farmers to build themselves on their farm. However, the design was only applicable for a very limited number of tractors used in Canada. The main objective for this new project is to develop a structurally sound, easily-built ROPS design that can be adapted for multiple tractor models.
The Low Cost ROPS Program Rollout project is one part of Agrivita Canada Inc.’s Canadian AgriSafety Applied Science Program, led by a team of researchers at the Canadian Centre for Rural and Agricultural Health (CCRAH, cchsa-ccssma.usask.ca). This video was prepared by the CCRAH for Agrivita Canada Inc. (www.agrivita.ca) and the Canadian AgriSafety Applied Science Program, which is supported under the Canadian Agricultural Strategic Priorities Program (CASPP).
