  • The airborne transmission of diseases is a major concern for the swine industry. Solutions exist for farms, but these protections cease once animals need to be transported. Building on a previous project of the AgriSafety Program, this new project enhanced the design of the prototype trailer to address emerging biosecurity risks and guarantee animal welfare during transport.
The Improving Biosecurity and Welfare of Animals during Transportation project is one part of Agrivita Canada Inc.’s Canadian AgriSafety Applied Science Program, led by a team of researchers from Prairie Swine Centre (www.prairieswine.com), and the Canadian Centre for Rural and Agricultural Health (cchsa.usask.ca). This video was prepared by the CCRAH for Agrivita Canada Inc. (www.agrivita.ca) and the Canadian AgriSafety Applied Science Program, which is supported under the Canadian Agricultural Strategic Priorities Program (CASPP).
