I'm glad you mentioned the Loquat at the end. I have had on in the ground a couple of years and it's just starting to put on a little bit of size. In fact I have a small bronze Loquat (Eriobotrya deflexa) arriving tomorrow.

I was looking at getting a Deflexa myself. Lovely plant just not as hardy as Japonica though.

Really love your plants and design....you got me addicted to schleffera and spiders web last year, they've done so well. Thanks so much for continual inspiration and trustworthy, practical advice.

I planted a Drimys, must be 4 -5 years ago here in Norfolk, about the size of the one you have . It's looking really healthy but not proved very fast growing for me. I left mine multi stemmed. Nice plant. Seems to be perfectly hardy here.

Nice, informative video - thank you. I'm trying to grow a fig tree "Brown Turkey" at the back of my garden, hoping it will act as a screening one day. It grows much slower than I expected, but I'm still a bit worried, that it may grow into a right monster soon enough :)

Thank you. I do like fig trees great leaf shape. Really like one called Ficus Carica Ice Crystal. I would have one in my garden if I had more room for Shore.
      Cheers

Curious if over the years noticed which factors are most influential for height growth like access to sun, watering, fertiliser etc. interesting that the loquat is stunted from being crowded. Nice video will look into the Drymis!

Generally if planted in the ground lots of these plants once established will find their own water levels and nutrients but light levels are important for the sun lovers.
My loquat grew towards the lawn to find light so is constantly cut back giving it its shrub appearance.
The scheffleras like some shade but still grow away from the
      Fences to find more light.

I just love your garden. So glad you kept your yellow wave. It really sets off your garden with the stunning colour.
How hardy is your cordyline dazzler? Do you protect it, can't tell if it is in a big pot or not.
    Thanks for the video

Thank you. I have two Cordyline Torbay Dazzlers planted in the garden. They are both unprotected unless we have continued days of low temps or -5 and below then I wrap in fleece or hessian and put a 1 tonne builders bag over the top to keep it dry in the crown. This will come off as soon as the weather warms though.

Great video and just as I'm looking for evergreen tree! Any suggestions for a tree/shrub that will get wet feet in the winter months but also full sun?

Hi and thanks. Not sure on the best evergreen for that situation as lots don’t like wet feet in winter. Some big trees are good with it but not so many garden sized shrubs or trees. Most full sun shrubs and trees like good drainage. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.

@@tikitropicals65 Thanks for replying. I was wondering if a tree fern might do OK. I've seen them in full sun looking great.

@@barbarabroomfield9146 Hi. Yeah Tree ferns can grow in full sun but are better with shade in my opinion. You would need to water well or set up irrigation if away on holiday ideally.
Is it possible to build a raised bed to help with drainage during winter.
When you say wet feet in winter is it water logged and puddling.? Trachycarpus Fortuneii when a
Bit more mature can take wet ground in winter

@@tikitropicals65 we dug out a new bed in a mainly clay garden so now all the water in the garden flows to the bed. We have added lots of compost etc and continue to add each year to mound it up but not enough so far! It does puddle when we have had a lot of rain. The plants in there are all doing well so far ( it's been 3 yrs). I have a tetrapanax papyrifer in there that has grown from a root (original tree was in a pot) and is about a foot tall. Maybe I should just be patient and wait for that to grow!! Thanks for your advice and video.

Why don't people use cherry laurel 🤷‍♂️ looks good in your garden I've planted some last year

    • @tikitropicals65
      @tikitropicals65  5 месяцев назад +1

I have a laurel in my garden it’s just that they can get very big unless pruned regular so good if you have a large garden or don’t mind maintaining their size.
