I hate that the movie didn't kill Pettigrew off the way he did in the books! The way he dies just shows just how merciless voldermot was to even his own most loyal followers! How that miniscule sense of remorse that the rat felt was a betrayal to the dark lord!
SAME! That was an important moment. A short moment of hesistance showed us that Pettigrew had some of his old character in there and that he was necessarily 100% evil. This and the battle between Harry and Voldemort was a big miss. (book battle was a lot better than outside in the backyard (movie))
@@Maatjuhhh 2 years later, but I have to comment . Remorse is a powerful theme in Deathly Hallows, it is presented as one of the most powerful human emotions, just like love was often described in the books. Wormtail felt remorse and he hesitated and that was enough for Voldemort's magical hand to kill Wormtail. Even the slightest betrayal, even though crime was enough for Voldemort. I think we can conclude (with the whole book in mind) that his soul was saved as a result. That also adds to the portrayal of Voldemort: a despicable creature, barely human who is incapable of feeling love or remorse. As a result of his actions, he suffered fate worse than death with what little was left of his shattered soul. Harry Potter even warned him about this in the books, and gave him a chance, told him to try to feel some remorse over what he did. Harry knew that true remorse was the only thing that could restore the soul of anyone who created a horcrux , however the pain of doing so would so great that it would kill them. But Voldemort was terrified of death and also completely incapable of feeling love and remorse. He was beyond saving.
Overall I think they did this whole Malfoy Manor scene well. Luna calling Dobby "Sir" and his reaction was one of my favourite moments of the film (along with Bellatrix saying "stupid elf! You could have killed me!" and Dobby replying "Dobby never meant to kill. Dobby only meant to maim or seriously injured!" 😂) Emma played her part really well and her and Helena's brainwave with the mudblood scar was genius given how ambiguous the book was on Hermione's post-torture injuries (I find it difficult to believe that she escaped a "girl to girl conversation" with Bellatrix Lestrange with only a cut into her throat). I understand why they didn't show Wormtail being strangled by his own metal hand because the scene was already intense enough as it was with what was going on with Hermione and Bellatrix. But the one negative I find about this scene is the boys are way too calm. Their best friend has just been left at the mercy of the most psychotic and merciless Death Eater and is screaming her head off, and they're both just standing around calmly like nothing is happening.
@@benten3212 Yes, it was. In the book, it was this artificial hand that strangled Wormtail to death. Harry and Ron even tried to save him, but the more they tried, the more the hand tightened around Pettigrew's neck.

In the book he was significantly madder. Not a fan of the much more reduced reaction in the film, it’s a bit weak and not really in character. Also in the book they take out Petigrew themselves rather than Dobby doing it. So they are much more active in the books. Though I am aware that this whole scene was reduced to keep the film rating down, the torture scene was longer in the books, Ron’s reaction was significantly more distraught, wormtail getting jumped and then strangling himself probably wouldn’t be great for a pg rating, nor would Hermione almost getting eaten by fenrir. So the book scene was honestly better, darker etc… but I see why they changed it.
One of my favorite facts about the torture scene is that Daniel, Tom and Rupert? (Dont know if her was there) needed to removed because they thought Emma was really in pain and strarted to become belligerent.

House elf magic is different from wizard magic. That's why Dobby can Apparate and Disapparate from places with the strongest protection spells. And that’s also why Kreacher survived in the cave where Voldemort hid Slytherin’s medallion . Wizards are in the habit of ignoring this fact because they consider elves (and not just elves, but goblins too) inferior.
They couldn't. They made it that way on purpose. Otherwise Mr Olivander could have left at any time. I think the whole of the cell area was made to be anti-apparition.
