Agree on the clone response. Just bought iconic by armaf and I can't believe how good it is. Is it exactly like BDC? No. It has its own take and it's beautiful. Half the price and double the longevity too. Got al haramain's amber oud ruby and it lasts from when I wake up until I go to bed. Smells so authentic too. If a clone comes out for Profumo and matches its performance, I'll be buying it instead of the OG
I think the maceration point is valid in some fragrances. I have fragrances that seem to have become more intense with age. I think this may sometimes get confused with batch variations…just my hypothesis.
Glad you mentioned the possibility of performance being related to how long it's been sat in the bottle. Bought armaf iconic and it had the same performance as BDC in first wearing. A month later it had double the longevity. Hoping your bottle will mature as I believe a lot of profumo's success was due to its performance

Yes Azzaro chrome extreme is literally profondo with a bit better projection and performance. My profumo can't get a spray ahead of profondo and azzaro chrome extreme.
Armani rebranding their existing scents to new bottles gives me the feeling that we're going to get Code Profumo and Absolu rebranding in the upcoming years. Don't take my word for it.

I watched Andres’ video too and was going to say the same thing. That’s why I always take their opinions with a grain of salt, because we all may interpret scent differently . Always test before you buy.
I had all these Acqua di Gio fragrances. For me, absolutely the best is Profondo. Its hard to describe how fresh it is. Something unique and addictive. Maybe sparkling bergamot in the opening and luxury mineral notes in drydown ? People around you will sniff you like dogs 😄

I enjoyed Profundo and put it im the same category as say Versace Dylan Blue or YSL Y EDP. Just a really solid blue fragrance. But I really thought Profundo Lights is the true masterpiece and unfortunately it will probably take a discontinuation for people to realize how great it really was. Profumo, Absolu, and Profundo Lights are the best of the line to me.
If the fragrance is the same or very similar to Profumo, it's a freakin' win. Profumo is discontinued, so the fact that the scent itself is being carried in a new bottle is reassuring. Profumo is my job interview fragrance. I've gotten every job I've worn it to. I *need* this stuff.

They are trying to do the EDT, EDP, Parfum thing without axing their topseller profumo. It's just an adjustment to market conditions/consumer demands. I like the older bottle more because its more ... "noir" I guess and it has that silver plate bottom but thats it. Overall, if the differences are within the usuall small reformulation range, I guess I don't mind the change.
Bought Profumo and Profondo a couple weeks back. I love them both. I've had a bottle of the EDT for years and it was nice to introduce it to its younger brothers. All three well within the rotation!

I have Profumo and at work, after 7h, 2 colleagues gave me compliments about how good I was smelling. It was a proof of how good Profumo is in dry down and longevity. Honestly, it's a masterpiece! About this "new strategy", a lot of brands seize the opportunity of having a great product to introduce a new one with slight differences, slight less quality and the same price. It means less costs to the brand and consequently larger revenues. I'm sad that Profumo was discontinued. One day I'll try this one to see if it has some of the Profumo's impact.
@michaelshelton2783ts been reformulated very badly since 2020. i had 2018 bottle and got crazy compliments, but with my 2021 bottle: big 0, i didnt new it and i bought 8 backup bottles, cuz i heard its gettimg discontinued,and never new it got reformulated...it makes,me so sad,one of my all time favorites
You are somewhat right... I had the Profumo (disliked the Acqua di gio as too marginal and weak, not manly if you get it) Profumo was a more elegant mans perfume without being very outwards and distinctive in the office. So nearly as soon as I found out about it, it was gone .. I got one small bottle on the internet some year ago, and that was the end, (why did Armani discontinue it was it, while keeping on with code that smells terrible when you start to sweat? So by accident this past Christmas sale I looked around alot, and since it didnt exactly smell like the classic Acqua but had a more intense smell and it wsa half price I finally went for it. It isnt Profumo quality like, but it is the closest you get I recon. It is a good perfume, very long lasting. People thinking about buying, I can say I generally like Hermes perfumes, and this hits that kind of category of people.

Profumo and Bvlgari Aqua Amara were the best aquatics on the market especially with the unique addition of incense and patchouli they had. Fortunately ADG Parfum is an acceptable replacement for Profumo, but Bvlgari certainly didn't do that for Aqua Amara. Such a shame.

I grabbed it today. At first whiff i was like damn...now that's nice. I have never tried profumo. My take on this fragrance is this...opens aromatic with clary sage and bergamot off top with some watery spices. Turns toward adg edt for a moment then hits a minty soapy vibe. Patchouli adds a little earthiness to it. Very nice wearing experience. Maybe not for youger population. Mature vibes all day.
I had Profumo (magnetic cap) and it was one of my favourite frags. Then I ran out and had to buy a new bottle of the reformulated (no magnetic cap) And the performance was awful lasted around 2 hours with no projection. I don’t believe I was nose blind as I’ve had a good handful of compliments from the magnetic cap and got zero from the reform so I believe no one could smell it. Though I’m a little disappointed this isn’t a new take on Profumo I’m hoping it’s closer to magnetic cap in terms of performance! That will be enough for me to rebuy this frag!
This is true. The reformulation is absolute trash and I had to sell that bottle cause it was a disgrace compared to the original formulation of Profumo. Unbelievable what these companies will do smh. I’m glad people can see these things

I have a bottle of 2016 ADG profumo and 2020 bottle of Profumo there is a bit of a difference like you mentioning in this video with the new parfum, the 2016 opening is way potent but overall they are the same, when i heard ADG profumo was being discontinued I was bummed out but now im glad they rebranded ADG profumo to this new Parfum 👌
Received my sample today bought off eBay.I must say this fragrance smells fresh and masculine.I wouldn't say it is strong in smell but should receive many compliments from women.
Profumo was definitely more mineral and smokier from start to end. It's very disappointing to see reviewers say they are the same. I just lose trust in their noses.

I bought this last August via Armani website here in 🇬🇧 !!! August 2022 before I travel to India for 3 weeks holidays. Temperature was around 30 to 33 degrees and after one 1 hour I couldn’t smell it on my skin. I didn’t spray it on my cloth though. While I’m watching I just found it on my cupboard and sprayed it on my wrist and yeah another 🇬🇧 summer on the shore. Yes it’s fresh and if you not under the Sun 🌞 it still good 🥰😉

I bought the Acqua di Gio Parfum a month ago , and i own two other bottles of the 2016 batch ADG Profumo . I can only say this . Get this one . The parfum is basically the same , i can only sense a difference in performance , maybe 30 minutes or so less on the parfum compared to profumo . But dont try and find the profumo because honestly , i smelled the 2021 batch of profumo and is weaker on the incense than pre 2017 versions . So the conclusion is this. 2015-2017 profumo are the best. 2023 Parfum is 97% of those . 2018-2022 profumos are worse in performance than Parfum in my humble opinion. Its completely worth it for under 130€ for 125 ml
It has been done this way because they got into the "parfum" trend some years before it was a thing. So, labeling something as "profumo" instead of "parfum" these days would make it a little bit more difficult to release a "Elixir" version for Christmas '23.
When i got my bottle of Profumo, for the first 3-4 days i literally got the OG ADG. Absolutely no difference. I had Profondo and Absolutely loved it, so i questioned what the hype was about with Profumo. After 3-4 days i guess oxygen got in there or however the hell that works but on day 5 i got the incense finally and liked it much much more. Maybe that will be the case with your bottle of the Parfum?
Profundo is my favorite flanker from ADG. Its like a more modern and elegant version of the original. I am curious if anyone thinks Parfum is similar to Profundo?
I always suspected that the EDP was a rebranding of discontinued Essenza with a few tweaks done to it. So im not at all surprised they did it with Profumo, but it's obvious they tweaked the incense note to make it less prominent in the new Parfum likely because some people were complaining that Profumo smelled too old manish for younger guys. Ive smelled it recently and I think it's acceptable as a replacement for Profumo thankfully because I was disappointed with EDP and don't think it did justice for Essenza.
Just bought a new fragrance oil called Omani Oud from Oud d'Arabie. Sandalwood, iris and Oud. Stunning fragrance, got 4 compliments today including one woman who chased me down to ask what I was wearing because I smelled beautiful!
I can understand that certain ingredients or contracts are not available anymore, and they need to change the formulation a bit. I can understand and even applause intentionally changing the aspect, as a queue for a slightly different juice. However, this is not a good reason IMO to completely rebrand a new fragrance just to get attention for sales. And I like my magnetic cap, it feels premium.

Weird but I bought the Parfum two weeks ago when I was in Edinburgh airport flying back to the USA. I thought it was everywhere in the UK. Spraying them side by side, it’s hard to tell the differences between the two since I now have both.

I am going to stock up my Profumo. It is a bad sign that companies making the excuse to discontinue a well known fragrance. Then they repackaging for money. Sad times!
i noticed fragrances actually change in how it smells... whether in a good way or a bad way... also there are batch variations especially if fragrances use a lot of natural ingredients like wine batch variations... so maybe they are supposed to be the same, but different due to those reasons.
Greetings from Spain, some of yotubers from here have compared this fragance saying that It's the same/similar to Acqua di Gio Essenza (discontinued). I can't comment bcz I haven't tried yet :)

First batches of ADG Profumo (like mine) are pretty strong and long lasting. Three or four sprays are enough. However, for me the incense note is too risqué.
Chris, great video and Interesting to hear your thoughts on this. I’ve tested it and IMO smells practically the same as Essenza albeit much more toned down. Sits very close to the skin. Pass for me. Ps. Essenza is king!
I love the Belcam clone of this called G Eau Black. Having never bought an official Gio bottle in my entire life I became interested in Profumo due to the great clone. But seeing that it's discontinued is pretty sad so I'll be sticking with my clone, and passing on the horrendous overpayment of any "official" versions.
Armani just wanted to follow what everyone else is doing. EDT,EDP and Parfum. They’ve discontinued the others that didn’t fit that line up or changed the name besides Profondo. It’s probably their best seller so they didn’t kill it.

I sampled this in the shop the weekend and I find it smells similar to Profumo but with the previous Essenza notes too. Such a shame they discontinued Essenza but this one is similar to it I find.

I hope this doesn’t become a trend among designers. It seems Guerlain has done the same with L’homme Ideal prive something where it smells pretty similar to the discounted ideal cologne version according to a video I watched of someone testing it.
I have a half a bottle of the OG Profumo that I use sparingly. It's may favorite scent and I was really hoping this flanker was going to be a stronger version but sadly it's not. I'll hold out and hopefully next year a different version will come out.
I look at it like an Aventus clone when trying to conserve your Aventus. It's not a dead ringer but its acceptable and your average person won't know the difference.

This is true. The reformulation is absolute trash and I had to sell that bottle cause it was a disgrace compared to the original formulation of Profumo. Unbelievable what these companies will do smh. I’m glad people can see these things

I've also heard that this is exactly the same as Acqua di Gio Essenza, which is discontinued. Is that so?
After them releasing Code Parfum and it being way weaker on my skin than code profumo I won't be wasting money on any other new ARMANI "Parfums".
I have a bottle of 2016 ADG profumo and 2020 bottle of Profumo there is a bit of a difference like you mentioning in this video with the new parfum, the 2016 opening is way potent but overall they are the same, when i heard ADG profumo was being discontinued I was bummed out but now im glad they rebranded ADG profumo to this new Parfum 👌
Then they should say “repackaged”! I have a few bottles of each of the ADG flankers and would have pissed had I bought this.

Received my sample today bought off eBay.I must say this fragrance smells fresh and masculine.I wouldn't say it is strong in smell but should receive many compliments from women.

Profumo was definitely more mineral and smokier from start to end. It's very disappointing to see reviewers say they are the same. I just lose trust in their noses.

Hope they do this for Code Absolu. Still my favorite from the brand.

I bought this last August via Armani website here in 🇬🇧 !!! August 2022 before I travel to India for 3 weeks holidays. Temperature was around 30 to 33 degrees and after one 1 hour I couldn’t smell it on my skin. I didn’t spray it on my cloth though. While I’m watching I just found it on my cupboard and sprayed it on my wrist and yeah another 🇬🇧 summer on the shore. Yes it’s fresh and if you not under the Sun 🌞 it still good 🥰😉

I bought the Acqua di Gio Parfum a month ago , and i own two other bottles of the 2016 batch ADG Profumo . I can only say this . Get this one . The parfum is basically the same , i can only sense a difference in performance , maybe 30 minutes or so less on the parfum compared to profumo . But dont try and find the profumo because honestly , i smelled the 2021 batch of profumo and is weaker on the incense than pre 2017 versions . So the conclusion is this.
2015-2017 profumo are the best.
2023 Parfum is 97% of those .
2018-2022 profumos are worse in performance than Parfum in my humble opinion.
Its completely worth it for under 130€ for 125 ml

In 2024 Armani reformulate it and the parfum have now more of the insence in it. New Formula can find in the new bottles with magnetic cap
It has been done this way because they got into the "parfum" trend some years before it was a thing. So, labeling something as "profumo" instead of "parfum" these days would make it a little bit more difficult to release a "Elixir" version for Christmas '23.
What's weird is Profumo already is a Pure Parfum concentration, but not many people were aware.
When i got my bottle of Profumo, for the first 3-4 days i literally got the OG ADG. Absolutely no difference. I had Profondo and Absolutely loved it, so i questioned what the hype was about with Profumo. After 3-4 days i guess oxygen got in there or however the hell that works but on day 5 i got the incense finally and liked it much much more. Maybe that will be the case with your bottle of the Parfum?
Profundo is my favorite flanker from ADG. Its like a more modern and elegant version of the original. I am curious if anyone thinks Parfum is similar to Profundo?
I always suspected that the EDP was a rebranding of discontinued Essenza with a few tweaks done to it. So im not at all surprised they did it with Profumo, but it's obvious they tweaked the incense note to make it less prominent in the new Parfum likely because some people were complaining that Profumo smelled too old manish for younger guys. Ive smelled it recently and I think it's acceptable as a replacement for Profumo thankfully because I was disappointed with EDP and don't think it did justice for Essenza.

Just bought a new fragrance oil called Omani Oud from Oud d'Arabie. Sandalwood, iris and Oud. Stunning fragrance, got 4 compliments today including one woman who chased me down to ask what I was wearing because I smelled beautiful!

I can understand that certain ingredients or contracts are not available anymore, and they need to change the formulation a bit. I can understand and even applause intentionally changing the aspect, as a queue for a slightly different juice. However, this is not a good reason IMO to completely rebrand a new fragrance just to get attention for sales. And I like my magnetic cap, it feels premium.
Hi Chris, thanks for warning us of the just repackaged scam. That’s why clones are so popular. Used to buy shade lots of expensive perfume, but now it’s not worth it, they just pulling money out of our pocket with zero effort on new work and ideas. Thanks you Chris for biting the bullet. 👍
Chris, any way you can review the difference between ADG Parfum and the 2024 ADG Parfum? Apparently the new batch is much more similar to the original Profumo now.
Weird but I bought the Parfum two weeks ago when I was in Edinburgh airport flying back to the USA. I thought it was everywhere in the UK. Spraying them side by side, it’s hard to tell the differences between the two since I now have both.

As a die hard fan of acqua di gio perfumes...perfumo is by far the best, its sad it was discontinued

I don't see Profumo anywhere in NYC now. Nor have I seen the Parfum yet. Would like to smell it in person, but I guess I'll have to be patient!
A known Spanish reviewer said it’s the same fragrance as ADG Essenza, which is discontinued.
I also think that's a more accurate description than saying it smells like Profumo. It's missing a lot of the saltiness and smokiness of Profumo.
i noticed fragrances actually change in how it smells... whether in a good way or a bad way... also there are batch variations especially if fragrances use a lot of natural ingredients like wine batch variations... so maybe they are supposed to be the same, but different due to those reasons.

Greetings from Spain, some of yotubers from here have compared this fragance saying that It's the same/similar to Acqua di Gio Essenza (discontinued). I can't comment bcz I haven't tried yet :)
I mean I'd prefer it if they just kept the absolute gem that is profumo, but if it gets discontinued I'm glad I'll be ablr to pick something up which is extremely similar. Will miss those little details about profumo though
First batches of ADG Profumo (like mine) are pretty strong and long lasting. Three or four sprays are enough. However, for me the incense note is too risqué.
by risqué do you mean the incense smell might be a turn off?
@@johnnyquest9101 Yes! If you spray too much, the incense note takes over and it gives the fragrance a very mature vibe.
Chris, great video and Interesting to hear your thoughts on this. I’ve tested it and IMO smells practically the same as Essenza albeit much more toned down. Sits very close to the skin. Pass for me. Ps. Essenza is king!
I love the Belcam clone of this called G Eau Black. Having never bought an official Gio bottle in my entire life I became interested in Profumo due to the great clone. But seeing that it's discontinued is pretty sad so I'll be sticking with my clone, and passing on the horrendous overpayment of any "official" versions.

Armani just wanted to follow what everyone else is doing. EDT,EDP and Parfum. They’ve discontinued the others that didn’t fit that line up or changed the name besides Profondo. It’s probably their best seller so they didn’t kill it.

Its better than reformulating, and not making it public that there is batch variation.
I sampled this in the shop the weekend and I find it smells similar to Profumo but with the previous Essenza notes too. Such a shame they discontinued Essenza but this one is similar to it I find.

I have just bought a bottle of Profumo from Notino (UK). It no longer has a magnetic cap and it says “Parfum” on the underside of the bottle.
When does it come to USA ?
I'm really not interested in any Armani fragrances anymore, I really like Profumo, I prefer Essenza, but profumo is very good, for the people who are Armani fans I'm glad, but for me once you touched the niche realm these fragrances are just plain vanilla, too simple. Thanks for the review Chris!!!

I hope this doesn’t become a trend among designers. It seems Guerlain has done the same with L’homme Ideal prive something where it smells pretty similar to the discounted ideal cologne version according to a video I watched of someone testing it.
I have a half a bottle of the OG Profumo that I use sparingly. It's may favorite scent and I was really hoping this flanker was going to be a stronger version but sadly it's not. I'll hold out and hopefully next year a different version will come out.
I look at it like an Aventus clone when trying to conserve your Aventus. It's not a dead ringer but its acceptable and your average person won't know the difference.
