Anyone else watching this adorable film at Christmas 2021? I bet Starewicz would be so happy to learn that over 100 years later, people are still laughing with and smiling at his work. Merry Christmas everyone :)
I can’t believe I just stumbled upon this from what I thought would be a silly google search! As an entomologist, I’ve already sent this to a my fellow bug nerds! 112 years later, this is much appreciated! Merry Christmas yall! 🎄
I am astonished at how much I enjoyed this! I wonder how much time and effort went into this back in 1913. Motion pictures had only been about 20 years old at this point.
German words at 5:40? Was this intended for a German audience? I know Russians have a "grandfather frost" and I'd be interested this was a soviet secularization of father christmas or if it is just a different [German] character altogether.

Technology back then was available to create such a little masterpiece. Magic for the children.

Damn, Astrid's really showing off her hipster cred with this one.
Unbelievable how Starewicz made this over 100 years ago.
merry insects' christmas!
Nice to see the work of this pioneer of the art - many thanks for posting.
Beautiful Stop motion I love it!!!!!!
this is sick as heck
Very creative for its time.
Very interesting
So cute :3
Starewicz used actual dead insects in stop-motion animation, so this could be considered an early zombie movie.

This is pre soviet Russia.
it means merry christmas :)
Yes, it’s Merry Christmas in German… I was curious about that as well. If it’s a Russian artist, why is there a German phrase?
1984 approves of this message.
The Christmas a year later💀
Charming Tsarist Russia art
Anyone know what is the music? Thanks!
The last one is December of Tchaikovsky
The original "Worker and Parasite" , haha (anyone seen that Simpsons bit?)
