If you have it in your car, would you get rid of it? Sure it's cheating but sometimes it's fun to cheat and this is not imposing on anyone. You only get this noise in Sports+ mode, so not an issue with normal day to day driving
Owned several S class. I had one S500 with the AMG pack. That car was constantly giving problems. Crank Trigger. . Codes and more codes. It was super fast, drove and handled well.. Sold it because of all the problems. Lost a ton of money as they have little to no resale value at all. Also had a lot of problems with my S420. At 67000 miles the transmission tail shaft seal and bearing failed. Costly. Clear coat began to peel. Steering shake at 40-45 mph. Sandor at StarTech Mercedes informed it was a design flaw corrected with the next model and could convert me over for a few thousand dollars. Door closing aid constantly had to be reset. And on and on and on. Sold that car at a severe loss but it was a gain getting rid of it. I have not had a good Mercedes since 1988. I hear these new Mercedes have over 100 computer and processor controllers all over the car...
@@unknownunknowns The 420 I was told is the best V8 they ever made. I never had a problem with it. On the S500, the crank Trigger went bad. Fortunately it went bad in the garage and not out on a trip to Texas. Had Triple A take it to Star Tech.
Everyone knows tires make a HUGE difference, so really not bad considering it's on all-season tires. And the fact it's as fast as a Miata Club is pretty hilarious!
Your videos have some really nice deep colors. No saturation at all. Great video quality and amazing content. I’ll stick with my 63 AMGs. Maybe this is just an introduction to the 48V system, hopefully with time AMG can tweak it and add more features to help the stability.
Track times are really so irrelevant for cars like this. No one will ever take it to a track. Daily comfort is more important. Also you can't compare this to an M5 since this is a softer amg than a full on 63
that's your opinion and I guessing you like this car and that's why you are saying this. Track times are relevant for road cars at the very least it predicts how capable the car will be in a road emergency maneuver (and make it fun to drive). Very relevant :)
@@chronodriver No. Track times don't at all tell how good it will be at a maneuver because cars are driving at their limit on the track and yet still stay grounded and where they are supposed to go. So in daily driving literally any car is capable of an emergency maneuver safely. It's still irrelevant. You'll feel the sportiness 1% of the time when you are driving at that speed and most people don't even. So comfort is more important because that can be felt 24/7 whether just sitting still or driving very slowly.

All season tire is hurting you on the track and acceleration. Mine came with standard Michelline on 20 inch rims. A little stiff butt on an AMG it suits the car.
That 300 lbs hybrid system must have made a difference in handling but then MB hasn’t marketed itself as a sporty brand like BMW. That hybrid system might be good for acceleration and fuel economy to make the EPA happy, though.
I love the way Paul went into those corners. I know that was a rather fast lap, but compared to others I’ve seen Paul drive around that park, this did not look fast except going into the corners.

Horsepower and torque max numbers are engine (ICE) on its own. 48V Generator / engine only supports in low rpm were the engine is far from its max numbers on power or has not reached torque due to turbo still spooling up.
Do your research.. AMGs handle quite fine. This is a tamed AMG. It was designed to be this way purposefully. For people who dont want a full blown AMG!!! But still want to have some fun.. its genius if u ask me. Best of both worlds.. u want hard core get a 63 then talk about AMG
Strykz63 true this isn’t the most track/performance version, but in many reviews over the years including this one, BMW seems to have a handling edge car for car.
Maybe back in the day.. but times are changing.. and your right. Bimmers are generally more sports focus.. but no one, especially now mixes luxury and performance like Mercedes.. Bimmer really needs to step up there game in the luxury department because Benz is right there with them when it comes to performance now

How about milking Paul and have a new show. Can you beat Paul in a $15k used Honda Civic. Civic in question would be a used 2017 2.0L 6MT Sedan with about $1k to tweak for your track (Ktuner flash to compensate for altitude). Guarantee Paul's going to embarrass alot of wannabee. Turbo would be easier but capitalizing on the vtec kick-in (for lack of turbo) would be interesting. Side effect, is the car will never fail with K-Series engine with 6MT. Unlike Ford, Honda's still big on Sedan, maybe they'll throw some sponsorship your way.
@@chronodriver with AWD most of the times you can give gas much earlier on a turn (from a 400 Horsepower Lincoln MKZ AWD owner...) besides that, not always does traction control off mean that the stability control is off...
Moshe Yehuda thank you but...that only works if you enter the corner below the limit so you lose more time than the earlier gas will gain you. AWD cars are typically nose heavy so the require a similar technique to a FWD car on entry which means a lot of trail braking to point the car at the apex then you can get on the gas. The Mercedes suffered from poor brake bias which hurt the effectiveness of the trail braking and too small a front tire which killed balance a too soft of a suspension and no feel. I drive a lot of AWD cars (check the leaderboard at the end of the video) and have owned a 400whp EVO for 17years (and still love it!).

huge let down! sounds terrible and looks terrible too. they didn't put the v8 and made it on purpose ugly because they were worried it would take away people from the gt 4 door. bad strategy for mercedes. i can bet the sales won't be good on this.
A full size AMG with an I6. An I6 that produces more hp than torque. Whose parts bin did that come out of? And not even close to enough torque for the weight. A sound generator is something a manufacturer might use if they were using an engine by another manufacturer (Renault Nissan cough cough), and didn’t want you to find out. It’s deceptive first and foremost, and I would never consider a vehicle equipped with one. Mercedes, as a manufacturer, is well on their way to losing their core philosophy. Just my opinion. Maybe it’s deliberate; to make the purists hate their products before China takes control of Mercedes.

@evilz33 0-60 is pretty much the gold standard in automotive performance. I'm glad you mentioned these other AMGesq figures such as the .91 G skidpad of the outgoing 63 compared to .94 of the 53. And Yes the braking was better on the 63, but only by 3 feet 70-0 lmao. I drive a 2014 GLI Edition 30, 2003 50th Corvette and a 2023 Expedition Max all of which are slower than this AMG. My Expedition is likely faster than what you drive, all while carrying my family of 5 and my dog. The Corvette, while having a higher top speed of 172 will get smoked by this AMG but at least to your point, my 5.7 liter V8 will sound good while it struggles to keep up. You obviously have issue with the fact that you spent all your money on a "proper" AMG and are upset that others are donning the badge who aren't truly worthy. The little man syndrome is evidence enough. Let Mercedes do what they do and you can stay in your lane. Once again, who are you to say?

Your performance criteria is 0-60? Wow…. Many more areas that the 63 is superior in braking, 1/4mile, track time, visually also looks better not to mention the sound.
@evilz33 0-60 is pretty much the gold standard in automotive performance. I'm glad you mentioned these other AMGesq figures such as the .91 G skidpad of the outgoing 63 compared to .94 of the 53. And Yes the braking was better on the 63, but only by 3 feet 70-0 lmao. I drive a 2014 GLI Edition 30, 2003 50th Corvette and a 2023 Expedition Max all of which are slower than this AMG. My Expedition is likely faster than what you drive, all while carrying my family of 5 and my dog. The Corvette, while having a higher top speed of 172 will get smoked by this AMG but at least to your point, my 5.7 liter V8 will sound good while it struggles to keep up. You obviously have issue with the fact that you spent all your money on a "proper" AMG and are upset that others are donning the badge who aren't truly worthy. The little man syndrome is evidence enough. Let Mercedes do what they do and you can stay in your lane. Once again, who are you to say?
If it's an AMG it shouldn't be a V6.
