  • Scott Tibbs from Roland presents the TB-03 Bass Line Synth, the TR-09 Rhythm Composer, and the VP-03 Vocoder. The Roland Boutique series manages to be both cutting edge and retro by reissuing favorite synths from the classic Roland library in a compact, tabletop format that makes them both extremely affordable and easy to integrate into a modern setup. They also all run on your choice of battery or USB bus power for maximum portability.

I am liking Roland's approach to small hardware much better than Korg's. these are small but well built equipment compared to Korg's almost toy feeling volcas that I doubt is gonna survive more than a few live performances.

80386 these are plastic too and cost more than 2 x what the volcas cost.

When I first saw the "Bassline" in a music store back when I was 19, I had just got a used cassette 4-track and became very into doing "one man band" stuff, lol. I stared at that wonderful silver box and just salivated uncontrollably. I'm very happy they have brought that cool look back. Back then, I would have used it for Suicide, Tuxedomoon, Eno, No New York no wave, not the way idiots use that sort of stuff now, for doing 1-dimensional, boring "techno", "hip-hop", or whatever name disco is going by this week...

Any serious studio can't take this toy seriously. The original 909 had individual instrument outs for tracking and effects routing. I suppose they're orienting this toward DJ's. Least Roland could have done was put a digital out with individual channels for DAW's. What were they thinking ! ?

Lower costs during construction and engineering means a lower cost at retail which means higher sales and availability at a lower market value.

Nyahna individual outs on a drum machine are a MUST.

For the studio maybe. But they're targeting DJs and experimenters with this gear. Don't get me wrong, if i was using it to record, I absolutely would want individual outs. But I understand why they chose not t.

Any serious studio would not look down on ANY equipment! It is the artist's use of it! If I went to a studio and they said "i won't take this seriously", I would leave.
