I remember the scene in the movie and always loved the music. Horrible things happened that were edited out when shown on t.v. back then. Creepy in that the musical piece is beautiful but ominous at the same time, like a colorful, deadly jellyfish, or a intricately scaled venomous snake....
This is just brilliant ...I cant stop listening to it! When the original version of this is played during the film, that's one of the best bits in the film too! (John Barry would be proud of this version!)
@idunno rich... full bodied sound.... only John Barry achieves that. Nuanced, infinitesimal chord changes, the closest thing to hearing sound in color. Hope that helps!
Diamonds are forever is one of the best bond movies ever made along with the other Sean Connery Bond series. John Barry is a legend his bond theme music has not be been matched by any modern day equivalent.
I find it hilarious how many people went nuts with Charles Gray playing Blofeld (especially when he was dressed in a disguise at the airport). People are quick to characterise it as 'drag' which is silly. Fun Fact: Charles Gray did the voice of the narrator at the pyramids in the Spy Who Loved Me. The man had incredible talent.
Reagan’s Star Wars development didn’t start till 80,s .soooo was Star Wars idea from this ?? This movie was in 1970 . Although it was to destroy large swaths of area .
Yes alighting one's mega yacht moored in the sea off Monte Carlo, after an successful evening at the Hotel du Paris. Of course with the most beautiful woman to spend the night with...... maybe in the next life. Sigh.
I love lighthearted, camp Charles Gray Blofeld. His smug grin getting duplicated a hundred times over by henchmen clones was absolutely hilarious! Played off of Connery really well too. Could still be a menacing Blofeld, AND be over-the-top. Something the Craig films are lacking - tongue in cheek. Virtually all of the Bond films up until Casino Royale knew to, as Richard Donner said when making Superman: The Movie, "respect the source material, but don't take yourselves too seriously." Adaptations need to check themselves. The modern Bond films are just too sure of themselves - almost to the point where the realism & grit & edgyness becomes camp itself! I prefer when the Bond series could have the world-threatening spectacle, gorgeous girls, fantastic scores (Craig era's only shining light), AND great humor to balance with the darker aspects (killing, rape survivors, etc.) and large action scenes. The new films, like the Bourne films they're copying, are just too depressing and dark. They're lacking the imagination, scope, and moody/style of the classic era!
Growing up I was a huge James Bond fan and loved a lot of the music pieces performed in the movies.I had a wild imagination when I was a kid and thought I could actually do this type of stuff someday in real life. The cinematic effect of the music to the scenes in the Bond movies is just outstanding!!!

Jakatta did a version called The Other World. Also Grantby did a version called Timber. Also sampled by Wagon Christ ( Shadows ) and 007 Counting Shadows In Another World.
Yes, you are correct. Jill St. John, whose real name is Jill Arlyn Oppenheim, is an American actress and has also been a licensed pilot. She was born on August 19, 1940, in Los Angeles, California. Jill St. John is best known for her acting career, particularly for her role as Tiffany Case in the 1971 James Bond film "Diamonds Are Forever." While she is primarily recognized for her work in the entertainment industry, Jill St. John has also pursued her interest in aviation. She obtained her pilot's license and has been known to fly small aircraft. However, it's important to note that her piloting activities may not be as widely known or as significant a part of her public persona as her acting career.
John Barry was a genius that could make his orchestra describe with beautiful, dramatic and eerie music,a state of the art satelite routine maneuvre, that suddenly is sequestered, and comandeered,to fan out its threatening sunlight refractors, that then carry out a deadly mission with mechanical precision.
And to think that, way back then, when this movie was shot, satelites such as the one described in this movie, were still on the drawing boards, now they do exist, secretly!

I would of liked to have seen the Producers keep the Original heavies "The Spang Mobsters" from the novel in the film. That movie script just did'nt cut it. Charlies Grey was the least effective Ernst Stravo Blofeld in my opinion. I've met Lana Wood and the late Desmond Llewellyn, very nice people.
