I’ve got my share of hosa cables…they’re fine while they work, but those non serviceable TRS ends just mean you have to clip em off and replace em when they inevitably go bad. Also, they use way less copper. Way easier to solder pro cables with more and bigger strands of cooper.
Yup I gave up 1/3 of my "recording real estate " to a workbench... I have one room that is dedicated as a studio/man cave/ workshop. Same "junk" on my bench... Deoxit , furniture polish, some goopy flammable stuff..not sure what it is, various magnifiers/holders and a few "burn" marks. :)
What I don't see there is a proper ventilation for the toxic fumes. Best would be a ventilator that removes fumes from the room but if that is not possible get one with a carbon filter.

I liked your early stuff most...never dug the live streaming thing. Creating new content continuously looks difficult... so many times I think I should make a vid when I'm working on something technical or interesting but it always seems too difficult and I just wanna get the deal done...RUclipsrs seem to have superpowers and I always wimp out.
keep improving your soldering light. the ultimate light source is soldering on a window sill. take it from someone who has tried a LOT of stuff, the more light you have and the higher CRI (color rendering index) the light has, the better you will see the fine details of soldering REALLY tiny stuff. on the window sill, i can solder metric 0201 without magnification, with a tip that's wayyy too large. I can even solder smaller than that. the next best thing after daylight is high-CRI HID (high intensity discharge) gas-filled lights, like the Osram 942 NDL series. No LED lights, even the expensive ones, come close to the quality of this light.
nice little vid. if your panavise is crushing things you put inside it, pad it with several layers of rubber, felt, leather, or whatever. those are called soft jaws. you can buy them, but you can also just... make them.
I don't recall thru which channel I was pointed to your but I for sure unsubscribed from the initial one and still glad to watch each and every your video. I like these kind of normal coffee/beer talk in silence about topics I am interested in..and solder vs soldier..lol..like listening to my own inner circles. Hope you are doing good and easy there and just would like to wish you merry Christmas 😊

A work bench is a must. Just spent the day fixing my aphex 106 and ordering parts for my hafler p1500.
soldering is an art in itself, I am unsure if the soldering iron itself helps you be more accurate, I always found the ones I used were not accurate
Pro-tip. When desoldering old cables from an xlr (or anything), it helps to put a little new solder on the connection, to flow the old solder faster.
