It was a good decision to keep your daughter at the Visitor station. Some people don't realize how dangerous high altitude is to young children and put them at an unnecessary risk. One day she will be old enough to go up and witness such a beautiful place! I would suggest reading about the cultural and historical significance of Maunakea. It will give you a whole new appreciation of such a sacred place. Aloha! 🤙🏽

Our 2 year old did great going to the visitors center. The adults took turns going higher.
You can stop a while before the visitors center as well to make sure everyone is feeling good. If you see any symptoms of altitude sickness in the kids, you can always go back down to a lower elevation.
      Have fun and be safe!
