Hi all, thanks so much for the support of each and everyone of you. Just thought I'd let you know there is some background noise in this video from my shirt rubbing on the microphone as I knead the papers. Probably best to not use headphones while watching this as it exaggerates the noise. Cheers from Australia xxx
Needed some ideas for my daughters journal. This is fantastic. Thanks for sharing
amazing
very good momigami
nice sharing
Thank you so much 🙂
Leigh this is fabulous. I don’t know how I missed it. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you very much Evy, cheers from Australia. 🤗🤗
This was a great tutorial. Do you have suggestions beside a journal colour for these glorious pages because they deserve to shine!
Thank you. I have made some gift envelopes from a couple and cut some shapes out to add to journal pages.
Hello Leigh, I have never seen this before, they are just gorgeous, love them. TFS
Hi Denise, thank you. It is something that is fairly new to me too and I'd been keen to give it a go. So glad you like the result. Cheers
This an extremely relaxing process to watch and the result is so beautiful ❤️
Hi Matteo, thank you for that, means a lot coming from you as I consider you an expert on paper techniques. 😍😍😍
@@leighcreates YOU are the expert and it shows in a video like this!!! Chapeau, my friend!!! ❤️
This is very interesting. I love to watch you knead the paper. I would love to see how you use this. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Joan. I used a lot of these papers at Christmas, made cash envelopes for the grandkid's cash to go into.
Thank you again. This is how I used to do what I called ‘fabric paper’ when I would make ‘treasure maps’ when I was a kid. Great tip to use thick glossy paper for it - how cool!! And pasting down pieces is a great way to use it. Can’t wait to try it this way. And your painty backs are truly next level ❤❤❤
That's a great idea Jen, thanks! I do see the term 'fabric paper' used too. Can see they would make great treasure maps, especially if done with neutral colours.
Hi Leigh, Absolutely yummy paper! Thank you so much for bringing this paper technique to us. You are champ mentioning Edith’s loss and how to support her at this time. 👏👏👏😎 Watching Scrapbooking with ME while recovering from.a broken femur bone hooked me into junk journaling and RUclips, so from my heart I encourage others to follow Edith on her channel.
Hi Donna, so happy you like the paper. Edith's channel would have been one of the ones that led to my love of junk journals too.
Fun!😊
Thanks again Susan.
That's a whole lot of work. But boy did it turn out beautiful. I'll be anxious to see what you do with it. I hope and pray you continue to be safe
Hello Judie, thank you very much. You are right, there is a lot of work in working the papers but definitely worth the effort. Cheers
Imteresing you Momigami before glues and then again after gluing. I suspect using wallpaper glue is what causes some of the difficulties with you hands. The wallpaper glue will dry much stiffer. I appreciate that Matt medium can be expensive and I haven't tested this with something like PVA or white glue. When I do this process, I use a mix of glycerin and water to help soften the paper. BTW if you use the glycerin/water method on craft paper it looks like leather. All best.
😀
Thank you for sharing, love the result. Hugs fro South Australia and hope you are OK given all the east coast flooding that's happening at the moment. 💖💖💖💖💖
Hello Leeann, all the flooding is heartbreaking but we are fine here and not being affected by the weather at this stage although there is a marine wind warning in effect. Just heard the forecast and it's going to be a wet weekend, perfect for crafting! Hugs to you too.
I was introduced to Momigami at a slow stitch workshop and love the feel of it. I am definitely making some for my journals, but didn’t think of magazines or glossy images. Thank you for the inspiration!
I am a new subscriber and enjoy your videos. 💐MARNEL🇨🇦
Hello again, thanks for subscribing and happy to see you hit the 1K mark. I enjoyed making the paper feel like fabric, the glossy pages work really well but are hard on the hands, (hence the gloves, lol). I'm so glad that you have enjoyed some of my videos and look forward to seeing more of yours too. 😊😊😊
I'm learning so much!
What type of wall paper paste are you using?
All purpose, I got it from Bunnings. You can use something else, l just used the same thing as Luise Janetta used.
Great video Leigh! You could almost call this a double momigami technique since you momigami’ed ut again after you glued down the backside 😄 btw I have also forgotten to turn the camera on, I feel for you 💙
Thank you very much, appreciate that. Ah yes, helps to turn on the camera, haha.
Is the wallpaper glue archival? Probably not. I'm an artist and I use Golden Fluid Matte Medium but it's $43 in Canada which is expensive. I buy it from an art supplier. Thanks for sharing! Take care! 😊
Good question, it's not as far as I've been able to find out. I used it because the person who I'd seen making similar papers was using cellulose glue which is basically what wallpaper glue is. An archival medium is expected to have a life of at least 70 years. I imagine that my paper will not last that long, the newsprint will surely effect the lifespan of the paper.
I was making this for fun, with no intention of keeping it for any length of time or selling it so in my case, it won't matter if it doesn't go the distance.
Here's a link to my inspiration, the momigami part is at about the 13 minute mark. ruclips.net/video/U7cprzbmhTM/видео.html
Cheers and thanks for watching my humble video.
I use Liquitex Matte Medium.. still not inexpensive but I buy the big 3 litre tub. It’s an excellent product and when bought in bulk is significantly less$ than Golden. I use it for absolutely everything…. Glue when adhering components on cards or collage, sealant ( especially on original watercolour cards), journal pages, binding pigment powders - everything!
Beautiful but what do you do with it?
Thank you. You can use it for collaging, making cards, journal covers, journal pages, anything you want really.
@@leighcreates thank you
Wow is all I can say
Thank you Merrilyn.
Hi Leigh, ive been watching for a year now and have been very inspired by your commitment and growth during this time. You hooked me at the start with your mixed media approach and it has been a pleasure to see you expand into all sorts of exciting new plACES. so hats off to you!
Now maybe i havent had enough coffee yet, but I cant find the link to the scrapbooking woman who has lost her hubbie of 49! years. I would like to help. please point me in the right direction.
HoooRoo to you! Love it when you say that! (But have no idea how to spell it.) 🥰Thank you, Anna
Hi Anna, thank you so much for your wonderful words. I put a lot of effort into what I'm doing and try to make my videos informative as well as fun to watch and it's so rewarding to hear that all that work is appreciated. Thank you also for alerting about the links, I was editing this late last night and it completely slipped my mind. The links are there now. Once again thank you and you spelt hooroo correctly, 😍.

My parents were married almost fifty years. My Dad passed five years ago just two days before their 50th wedding anniversary. My Mum swore at the time she sensed that he was trying to wait until after then to pass away. One night she whispered to him 'happy anniversary darling' and the next day he had gone. He was a loving father and husband who would do anything to help anyone he could.
True love.
Hi Leigh! Great video. How many layers of newspaper do you use to glue the momigami on?
Hi Cheryl, thanks for the question. This was made with a single layer of newspaper. Cheers
Bummer we just don’t get the newspaper anymore here :-(
You could use pretty much any other paper for the backing, such as paper bags, book pages, wrapping paper, doesn't need to be newspaper, I just like the look of it. Cheers
Where did you get those gorgeous original papers?
They are from a book about Asia that I bought at the thrift shop. Cheers
@@leighcreates thanks. I. Went to my favourite thrift store yesterday and snagged a gorgeous book with beautiful full colour plates.
Please tell me what kind of cellaphane plastic do we use ?
Thanks for the question, I only use cellophane or a plastic bag so the paper can be lifted up and moved off the desk. Also the glue does not stick to plastic or cellophane. To be safe and not risk colour transfer I recommend using plain cellophane. Cheers
Does it have a special name ? Or thickness? Do you have a link where you purchase it. Not the ones that are loud like they use for wrapping flower? Thank you so much - I'm new on your channel
Blessings miyoko - so nice to meet you
I use florists cellophane and shopping bags, but any plastic will work. Grocery bags, rubbish bags, it doesn't matter, they all work as the glue will not stick to them so you can peel the paper off when it is dry. Cheers
Thank you - so much I noticed the video of your art work with cotton string flowers - you said used a different cellaphane wrapping and had a link that you use. - just wondering- thank you ! Will look at video again
Interesting. Perhaps you could move the mic away from the paper crumpeli g. I could turn volume down, but didn't want to miss your comments.
Thanks for your input. Was using a lapel microphone, the noise throughout is my shirt when I moved, I was standing and my shirt was brushing against the microphone, I did not realise. Unfortunately there is nothing that I can do at this point in time to improve the sound quality but will post a warning to viewers. Would advise not to listen through headphones though as they seem to make it worse. Cheers
What do you do with them?
Any application that requires a thick paper, i.e. journal pages, envelopes, tags, cards and so on
I wanted put one 👍🏼, but I could not so l tryed the 👎🏻. I'm sorry if this one counts
