This is so cool! Have you ever kept Australian native bees? We had a swarm in our backyard but they left because they had moth grubs (or something like that) in their home 😢
I sure have. I miss my natives. Going to have to build a new hive and find a new colony. Yeah, wax moth. They’re nasty. I lost a whole hive to them last year.
Totally depends on the size of your yard and what your neighbours think. A good practice is to place the hive near a 6ft fence and aim the hive entrance at it. The bees flight path home is much higher this way (over your neighbours’ heads!). Better yet, offer them free honey. And if they’re still not keen, go with native stingless bees.
4:47 You know what they say, only dressmakers use centimetres.
Pretty sure you bought me a tape measure many years ago and said the same thing when you gave it to me 🤣
Excellent video!
Thanks!
Love it!
Thanks mate 👍

Also I need another vid on the smell of your breath and bees !
Ooh, that’s a good one, I’ll definitely make a video about that.

We love this. Might have to try set a hive up at our place. What are your thoughts on suburban be keeping?
