There is a version of "The Sound of Silence" by this group that is filmed and recorded at the Santiago de Compestala Cathedral in Compestala, Spain. You can instantly tell it is the proper video because of the cathedral background (lots of gold). It is a must watch due to the acoustics. Every time I see one of their video's it is an almost completely different group... I have a "Gregorian" playlist on my Spotify of about 60 songs.?
As soon as i saw this I knew you would like it. This is one of my favorite songs of Uriah Heep. The Gregorian chant came out of the Catholic church back in the 8th -9th centuries I think. They used the chants to sing liturgies. So it has been around off and on for a really long time. I am not sure when it started to do mainstream music.
This song is one of their biggest hits (Uriah Heep) Ensiferum also covered this song (which is absolutely amazing like this one but in a different way) I absolutely adore Gregorian, they are amazing! So glad you reacted to it
