You know games like this, back in the day were often look past or dismissed because they were campy edgy shooters like every other shooter like gears of war but they often had their own charm and style to them that you wished was still here today. You never realize what you miss the most until it's truly gone. I'm talking about this era of gaming.
I’m probably one of 5 people that still has a copy of this game. While I personally think Binary Domain and Vanquish definitely deserve sequels, I weirdly would not mind a follow-up to Quantum Theory just to see what they can get away with this time.
This is the era people hated a lot. Barely any japanese games were coming out and the ones that did felt they had to ape western games after the AAA boom in the 7th Gen. Good thing they learned from that time to just do what comes naturally to them.
What the hell is the actual story here though? Other than "angry man punches crystal so hard it blows up every tower on the planet for some reason"? Just to make things even more confusing, apparently there's an after credits scene of you and Filena approaching another tower. But didn't those all blow up? Otherwise what was the point of those energy missiles heading from the tower you were in? I get that there are multiple factions after a world war, but... why is Filena attacking the tower? Seemingly she is a creation of the tower. But she doesn't die with it. Meanwhile Nyx did after the previous tower was taken out. Was Nyx the same kind of artificial human? Why did she die and Filena didn't? I read elsewhere that Nyx is meant to be a Gillskin, same as Syd... so why would taking the tower out kill her? Who was behind these towers existing to start with? After further research, it seems "nosferatu" are basically mass produced guards for the tower. They aren't naturally weird monsters but it seems the strange plague causes them to mutate. "Gillskin" refers to mutants but they aren't always monsters. Syd is one but he just has weird looking eyes and extra strength. So what we have here is a human infected with the plague but essentially transformed into the doom slayer because he got lucky, attacking the tower because another tower killed his friends. I just don't get what's going on with Nyx and Filena, or who created the towers/why. And where the giant plague worms come from.
Is the script supposed to be a parody on how simple the premise gears of war is or how simple the gameplay is? The use of exaggerated adjectives lose me
Ohhh interesting. The German version changes the color of the blood to green and removes the gore from the slow-mo headshots. That would have been cool to include in the video haha oh well
Lmao this looks like a terrible reinterpretation of doom, no plot no characters just murder demons. They’re not bland they’re blank slates for you!…or something.

honestly the game gets boring. but that was when I was a kid. but it made me want to just play Gears lol
