this song shows how gaslighting works, she abuses him verbally and then makes him believe that he needs her to survive and makes him believe that she loves him. he believes he is useless and can't survive by himself and that she's the only one capable of loving someone useless like him
To me, it's the opposite. My mother used to talk to me like this. But even though this song brings back those awful memories and hurts me, I still keep listening to it.

this remind's me of how my parents used to treat me, they kept telling me I'm like a 5 year old amongst other stuff and tried to take control of everything I do, from what I spend my own money on to what I wear and eat. Quite recently I was thrown out on the street because I was tired of how they always treated me badly but luckily I had friends and other family members who wanted to help me and now I have my very own appartment. I have no idea what my parents are doing and honestly I couldn't care less

@@U_z_e_r_n_a_m_e not really, it's just a manipulative tactic abusive people do to get, as they said, people to depend on the abuser by insulting them at their weakest and manipulating them to think that the abuser/s are the only people who could 'love' them by letting them know how; "you're such a kind friend" "you're a good child" these kind of things make the abused unable to complain because they have to be always kind or good as they're complimented and would like to keep it that way and sadly enough go deep enough to believe everything they say because again, they 'love' them. Her saying that she's a useless child hinted to her probably having called herself the same thing in the past and being forced to believe the same thing as a kid by a parent. And so she repeated the cycle with her child but it didn't work.
Small theory: so we all get the point- this song is about a mom who emotionally abuses her child by saying that he is a useless child, and he is abused up to the point when he is grown up. The writing when he is a kid looks colorful and uses hiragana. But when he grows up, it's less colorful, neater, and uses kanji. I'm thinking the kid used to write down all the things his mom said to him in a journal or a notebook of some sort and continued to write them down up until he grows up. The two figures, which is the kid and the mom was also drawn by the kid. Furthermore, the title of the song that shows up, in the beginning, seems kinda messy, which could mean that he titled this journal of his "You are a useless child". Then, when he disappears, (died, ran away, or something) the mom finds the notebook he's been writing everything in, and as she reads them, she realizes she was the useless and terrible person all along. She reads what the boy wrote as a kid, so the writing is back to hiragana and it's more colorful.
The root of this song is emotional manipulation through abuse, where in the mother tells the child that they cannot live without her because they are useless on their own. And this happens in real life a surprising amount, but it’s never called out because that’s how some of the older generation was taught how to teach their own children, using fear, guilt, and ridicule. Edit: Something I forgot to mention also is that the Mother (or guardian) is lonely as well, and without their child, they feel lonely. So at the end of the song, they call themselves 'useless' for not being able to take care of the one thing that made them not lonely
i feel like the parent was abused when they were a kid and just ended up thinking thats how parents behave, so when they became a parent themselves they continued that cycle of abuse. idk that was the first thing that came to mind when the "im a useless child" part came up

So, this really reminds me of Tangled. I've always held kikuo close my heart, he manages to take so many everyday yet fucked up problems into consideration and creates songs out of all sorts of situations and things, from all types of abuse to love and toxicity, I know it sounds weird but I've really come to appreciate his work and been able to overcome many obstacles in live and hard times because of his music, it's fucked up yet somewhat comforting to realize that no matter how hard ur struggling that there is always someone out there that can help or rather relates to your experience. I just love how his songs tackle and puts forth many issues we all face in today's society but no one dares talk about, that's why I think his songs can be really therapeutic for some of us struggling and going through similar things as they show in the songs. I don't know what this comment is just wanted to say love ur videos and ur reactions, finally someone on youtube that reacts to my favorite vocaloid songs! I love you, keep going strong and happy New Years to anyone reading this comment I love you too!!
not this being uploaded right after my mom just yelled at me and threatened to hit me for crying cause it’s “disrespectful to cry when someone is talking” 🧍🏼♀️ but then again 🙄🤚 she did buy me pink lemonade so i guess she’s alright 😒
im finna square up 🧍🏽♀️ crying when a person is talking isn’t “disrespectful” it’s just showing your emotions your mom must be out of her goddamn mind
WAIT I JUST REALIZED THAT THIS SONG IS THE LULLABY THAT THE MOTHER SANG TO HER KID- Edit: also just noticed that the mom refers to herself as a “child/kid” so I’m assuming that’s how she was treated to and internalized and realized this when he left and is like “I’m a useless child that no one will save” because the she never truly grew up she instead stayed a child (shown in how the shadow doesn’t change) and became her abuser.
I feel like part of kikuo's reputation with his songs is being unable to sing it out in public lmao. This song especially. It's easier to sing and is really catchy but *oof.* We love toxic parenting.
ugh this song hits me hard every time i listen and yeah it hits different when you have had emotionally abusive/manipulative parents but my favourite part of the song has always been the bassline, it's just so JUICY and emotional.. excellent reaction as usual !
I always liked the touch of the parent learning/realiseing their mistake when it was already too late. Just hits me really deep and I find it a great vent song.
Huge fan of Kikuo's music, so seeing you go back to what you started with this song was an enjoyable take to listen to. Kikuo's music always seems to be a banger but you are fully aware you shouldn't dance to it- it's almost like Kikuo wants you to take your trauma's hand and dance with it. You absolutely hit bang on to the meaning of the song, once again very enjoyable to listen to what you thought about the song. Even though past peers might have verbally abused you, you'll always be of help to someone. I hope you had a great New Years Shooshi, and best of luck to you in 2021. I'll be waiting on your next video once again :)
If you want lighter songs that still have a deep meaning I recommend the artist Pinocchio-P, any song is good to start with but I recommend “SLoWMoTIoN” since it’s his most viewed song
tbh, the way he makes the beat happy, makes me feel like how no one really knows till it's too late, and the happy beat is the mother or abuser putting on a happy face to conceal what's happening
I really love and don't like that it's so cathy. It makes me want to sing it even though I think it's fucked up to do that. Anyways I'm really glad you reacted and analyzed another kikuo song my dude 😄
In the Japanese lyrics in the beginning they used hiragana and it was colorful in like crayon written style when he was a child then it changed to kanji in just plain black/gray after he grew up. It does change color here and there still after he grew up which I take that hes still stuck in the past and his mother is like always there saying that hes a useless child. I think she kept saying she'll protect him and save him to only make him stay
An existential nightmare in song form is cotton candy by Kikuo. It feels like your world is crashing around you and you are to paralyzed to stop it. It also has a cute singing cloud.
This was the song I listened to while cleaning when I was younger- and yes, I knew the meaning. :,) Forgot to say...maybe it's catchy because like you said it can be so easy to echo the same words. It can be so easy to repeat the cycle and affect others in such a negative way without realizing the consequences. Idk lol
during your analysis i actually started crying because i didn’t realize certain relationships i had with people had been that way so thank you so very much /gen
I read a book called ‘earthlings’ that had been translated over from Japanese (sorry for forgetting the author’s name), in which the protagonist was shit on by her mum and the people around didn’t really do anything about it. Like it was a normal occurrence for mothers to vent aggression on their kids. My parents never did that to me, but reading the book, I felt awful for the protagonist, and was shocked that the mother was shocked with the outcome at the end (it was a bit out there, I won’t spoil it, but the person who left the review of ‘weird and funny’ has a weird sense of humour).
I feel like the mother had this happen to her, because the lyrics changes to “I’m a useless child” ( this in NO WAY justifies what she did to her son )
Fun fact, when I was younger I thought this was basically about a toxic friend dynamic and the one who is being called useless constantly just ran away and got a better friend. My original interpretation the child didn’t even die but revisiting the song after a while I realized oh the child did die but I didn’t realize until watching this video it was about a mother verbally abusing her child. I saw this song via a meme at first and then listen to the full thing when I was like 14/15 I am 17 right now.
Listen to Fantasy Pianist and Endless Wedge feat Kagamine Len by Hitoshizuku and Yama please. These two songs are amazing and lovely to listen to. Even if they don’t have music videos like the ones you listen to, their melody and music are so amazing to listen to. I hope you listen to them. Btw, these songs are one of my favorite. They make my day. I hope you enjoy them. Or you could try Mothy Akuno-P. All of them make good songs I really enjoy listening to.
ngl you're a useless child is one the few vocaloid songs I related to growing up (as sad as that is, lmao) the other one being rolling girl by wowaka, and more recently SIU by maretu
Hey✌️ 2021's almost over, lesgoo. Also, i absolutely _LOVE_ this dude sm. He's what I've been needing. A person who reacts to stuff on internet, and actually does a commentary on it which isn't only questions or silence❗✨👏
This song was my gateway to Kikuo and the darker sides of vocaloid, first time I heard it I was amazed that a song this catchy and poignant could exist. It really cemented my descent into weebdom, and I couldn't be more grateful ♡
I feel this song, because at a very youg age my sibling or sometimes my parents when we were fighting they always told me that I was a crybaby, and my sister always told me what to do, and after that, she told me that I can't do anything without her telling me So I've been feeling like the urge to be more mature but Ive always been like the child, very upset and not wanting to do anything, but even if I don't do something, they always gonna be at my back telling me what to do because they feel like I'm useless
kikuo is and always will be one of my favorite vocaloid producers. he makes music that is insanely different and crazy sounding and these lyrics about things that most artists are scared to write about
Just like kikuo was the reason you started reacting to songs, you're the reason i knew kikuo..and love their songs. My favourite now is "O Light" by them but honestly all of kikuo's song is very catchy depite its lyrics. Hope you can react to O Light coz i wanna see your thought about it😁😁😁
This song kinda reminds me of weakness from milgram , but like, reverse perspective and a different outcome. The links there , but definitely vague lol, or maybe I'm just brainroting too hard
Yeah I hope he reacts to Milgram songs soon, they're all amazing!! I want him to react to Bring It On the most tho, since that song is kinda from the "villain's" perspective.
Hi, I never realized the lyrics were related to my life until I saw the English lyrics from this video, it made me cry hope your channel blows up, also you got a new subscriber. :)
This song is so catchy but literally makes me want to cry. I did first see this song with translations but it just made me relate to the song since you know whole family is... I just got to wait a few more years until I become a adult 😁 :D
As a little fun fact, When the child is a kid, the Japanese lyrics are mostly hiragana and katakana (the most basic alphabet in Japanese and what children start learning, I imagine so that the child can understand), then, when he grows up, lyrics are now written with kanji, and a more adult writing, meaning how he’s maturing and growing, also the mother insults turn more sophisticated bc of the age. Still, when she addresses him as a child in “a cute child, a good child, you belong to me” returns to the initial hiragana. Also this is more of an observation, but when the child leaves, the typography changes to a more round one, so it means the mother is now the one writing and saying that to herself. I love how kikuo represented each character with a different way of writing. (Also, English is not my first language, sorry for any misspelling)
this song makes me so sad because when the mom realizes her child is gone she says “if only time could turn back…” which is really sad and when she regrets it it’s like generational trauma
well shooshi gettin into the analysis made me tear up drgthjuymnbd bc ur right. the verbal abuse hurts jus as much as physical abuse(in my case i mean, idk for others) and sometimes even more. im glad that ive always been interested in the human mind bc it allows me to psycho-analyse my . . . situations. my mom is v insecure and often takes it out on my siblings and i(usually me, which is likely bc of a mix of my actin like my dad who she hates, my bein autistic and ADHD, my bein the oldest, etc.). im sick and tired of it and cant wait to move out so i can be in some semblance of peace(which is happenin soon so yippie!)
What I believe the mother is doing, from personal mother-daughter experience that was put on me, being the daughter, is that the mother thought that was how to raise a kid because she herself was raised that way, and is manipulating her kid to stay with her by saying she will protect them, giving the kid a false sense of security. Then she will furthermore abuse the kid, not realizing she was in the wrong until it was far to late to fix her mistakes, which brings her back to replaying her childhood and calling herself the same things she did her child, then dying from no longer taking care of herself from a deep depression
You were on the right track! The mom wanted to have someone to control and she liked seeing somebody smaller than her to get the power of the kid relying on her. It’s an actual manipulation technique, it’s a mixture of guilt tripping and negating. This is actually mostly found in a Mother and Kids relationship or a Man and Women couple. In the relationship one person would insult the other person and say something like, “This is why I am the only person to love you because I dealt with all of this.” The other person would start to believe it over time and stay in the relationship because how mixed up they get your feelings. Usual in a Couple the abuser would try to cut ties with the victim’s family either moving far away or making them fight badly, when they are now alone they’ll start and the victim will be in the situation of when they can’t get away so now they’re completely trapped like you said “it’s like a prison.” In the mother and kids one, for example a son is only raised by his mother. She, the mother only have the son left. She would not want the kid to leave her so she decides from a young age to start making the kid thinks he’s worthless, he starts believing so because he’s an child and now he carries that weight. Now if he were to move on to college he has just one choice in his eyes because he doesn’t think he would survive outside of her house because she’s put it into his head that he won’t so he stays with her forever and now still stuck in that cycle.

:)
"You sound like my father, nice." Is no one going to talk about this quote or...?
not this being uploaded right after my mom just yelled at me and threatened to hit me for crying cause it’s “disrespectful to cry when someone is talking” 🧍🏼♀️ but then again 🙄🤚 she did buy me pink lemonade so i guess she’s alright 😒
im finna square up 🧍🏽♀️
crying when a person is talking isn’t “disrespectful” it’s just showing your emotions
your mom must be out of her goddamn mind
This was uploaded the day after my parents did something very similar
Exactly if I laughed to loud I’d get beaten or/and aggressively yelled at by my mum :/
Your mom is umm...
oh, same i’m not allowed to cry-
WAIT I JUST REALIZED THAT THIS SONG IS THE LULLABY THAT THE MOTHER SANG TO HER KID-
Edit: also just noticed that the mom refers to herself as a “child/kid” so I’m assuming that’s how she was treated to and internalized and realized this when he left and is like “I’m a useless child that no one will save” because the she never truly grew up she instead stayed a child (shown in how the shadow doesn’t change) and became her abuser.
I feel like part of kikuo's reputation with his songs is being unable to sing it out in public lmao.
This song especially. It's easier to sing and is really catchy but *oof.* We love toxic parenting.
Oh my god that ‘haha, n i c e’ fucking killed me I nearly choked on my cereal
Same that shit killed me
That song: _full of almost all my trigger words_
Me: **cries in silence**
Also me: _vibes to it_
ugh this song hits me hard every time i listen and yeah it hits different when you have had emotionally abusive/manipulative parents but my favourite part of the song has always been the bassline, it's just so JUICY and emotional.. excellent reaction as usual !
I hope you are doing well
*I feel bad for liking these sort of songs they're so catchy yet so deep- ;^;*
Everyone who sung: guess I go to hell
Thank you for this dude. super encouraging :). I wish you a good 2021 as well
"Sounds like my father, haha"
That hit me a little too hard
If you want lighter songs that still have a deep meaning I recommend the artist Pinocchio-P, any song is good to start with but I recommend “SLoWMoTIoN” since it’s his most viewed song
Omg, or Himitsu!

@@shooshiMooshi off topic can you explain this 12:48?
tbh, the way he makes the beat happy, makes me feel like how no one really knows till it's too late, and the happy beat is the mother or abuser putting on a happy face to conceal what's happening
Me listening to it the first time not knowing what it was saying: this is fine
Me finally learning what it says: this is not fine
There's the actual captions on kikuos og videos
I really love and don't like that it's so cathy. It makes me want to sing it even though I think it's fucked up to do that. Anyways I'm really glad you reacted and analyzed another kikuo song my dude 😄
ikr that song is hecka *cathy*
My parents gaslighted me into believing that I could do nothing on my own, that I would never amount to anything so this song hits hard 😬
I love the fact that he actually responds to people in the comments! This goes to show he cares about his subscribers lol.
I’ve been actually wanting you to review this song, So I’m excited :)))
Same- I love this song :')
An existential nightmare in song form is cotton candy by Kikuo. It feels like your world is crashing around you and you are to paralyzed to stop it. It also has a cute singing cloud.
This was the song I listened to while cleaning when I was younger- and yes, I knew the meaning. :,)
Forgot to say...maybe it's catchy because like you said it can be so easy to echo the same words. It can be so easy to repeat the cycle and affect others in such a negative way without realizing the consequences. Idk lol
My sister always sings this...and to think that this was one of the first few vocaloids I discovered when I was...8 or so years old...
0:00 My same exact reaction when I first listen to this with translation.
during your analysis i actually started crying because i didn’t realize certain relationships i had with people had been that way so thank you so very much /gen
I really don’t mind spoilers
I feel like the mother had this happen to her, because the lyrics changes to “I’m a useless child” ( this in NO WAY justifies what she did to her son )
I’m glad you did this song! I was hoping you would!
fun fact: youtube suggest me this video 2 days before going to a Kikuo concert
You have to react to bacterial contamination! That’s song was my therapy song in middle school....I was an edgy broken kid. Still great though!!!
I LOVE BACTERIAL CONTAMINATION😍
Fun fact, when I was younger I thought this was basically about a toxic friend dynamic and the one who is being called useless constantly just ran away and got a better friend. My original interpretation the child didn’t even die but revisiting the song after a while I realized oh the child did die but I didn’t realize until watching this video it was about a mother verbally abusing her child. I saw this song via a meme at first and then listen to the full thing when I was like 14/15
I am 17 right now.
The song lyrics is just my brain to myself🚶♀️
I agree with the part where you talk about how abusers don't realize how long their words will stick with the victim until it's too late
0:58 for a second it sounded like like you were calling us a useless child.
ah yes this is the song alot of us people can somewhat relate to 😃👌
ngl you're a useless child is one the few vocaloid songs I related to growing up (as sad as that is, lmao) the other one being rolling girl by wowaka, and more recently SIU by maretu
Yesterday I listened to the song with captions
I think I know why I feel sad every single time I hear it-
Hey✌️
2021's almost over, lesgoo.
Also, i absolutely _LOVE_ this dude sm. He's what I've been needing.
A person who reacts to stuff on internet, and actually does a commentary on it which isn't only questions or silence❗✨👏
Somehow, I was the first view on this! Happy 2021!
Edit: Nvm about the "first" thing. I was about 4 seconds late.
This song's my jam btw! Tyvm for reacting to this!
I love how simple his room looks...haha weird thought. Awesome video and looking forward to more videos!
This song was my gateway to Kikuo and the darker sides of vocaloid, first time I heard it I was amazed that a song this catchy and poignant could exist. It really cemented my descent into weebdom, and I couldn't be more grateful ♡
I feel this song, because at a very youg age my sibling or sometimes my parents when we were fighting they always told me that I was a crybaby, and my sister always told me what to do, and after that, she told me that I can't do anything without her telling me
So I've been feeling like the urge to be more mature but Ive always been like the child, very upset and not wanting to do anything, but even if I don't do something, they always gonna be at my back telling me what to do because they feel like I'm useless
YAAAAYY THANK YOU WITH THIS MAYBE I CAN SURVIVE RETURNING TO SCHOOL FROM WINTER BREAK WISH ME LUCK SOLDIERS THANK YOU COMMANDER SHOHOHOOSHIMOOHSHI
Aww :). GOOD LUCK!
My favorite vocaloid song being reacted to by one of my favorite RUclipsrs a day after my birthday.
I'm crying and celebrating at the same time.
I’m so messed up I listened to these type of music all the time
kikuo is and always will be one of my favorite vocaloid producers. he makes music that is insanely different and crazy sounding and these lyrics about things that most artists are scared to write about
"If you sing your going to hell"
*But I'm already in hell?*
YAYY ANOTHER KIKUO SONG
Its always "if you relate to kikuo do you need help" but never "does kikuo need help"
"If you sing this you go to hell"
Okay let's meet in hell then everyone 😃
Ok i will be there with you
this song makes me so sad because when the mom realizes her child is gone she says “if only time could turn back…” which is really sad and when she regrets it it’s like generational trauma
I just noticed the mom is making the son sing it with her this is fucking cruel but it sounds so good
i hope anyone who’s had to deal with this is better now and remember you aren’t alone and people will always support you
You should listen to "Kara Kara no Kara" it's another song by Kikuo😀
I think he'll have fun with that! Also I like your Steven Stone profile pic

well shooshi gettin into the analysis made me tear up drgthjuymnbd bc ur right. the verbal abuse hurts jus as much as physical abuse(in my case i mean, idk for others) and sometimes even more. im glad that ive always been interested in the human mind bc it allows me to psycho-analyse my . . . situations. my mom is v insecure and often takes it out on my siblings and i(usually me, which is likely bc of a mix of my actin like my dad who she hates, my bein autistic and ADHD, my bein the oldest, etc.). im sick and tired of it and cant wait to move out so i can be in some semblance of peace(which is happenin soon so yippie!)
To everyone who got through 2020:
Good job! You made it! I’m not having any high hopes for 2021, but still it would be better if it gets well, BETTER!
Ah, yes, the first vocaloid song to make me bawl my eyes out.
why tf do i relate to the song so much?
I hope you are doing ok whit your mom ❤
What I believe the mother is doing, from personal mother-daughter experience that was put on me, being the daughter, is that the mother thought that was how to raise a kid because she herself was raised that way, and is manipulating her kid to stay with her by saying she will protect them, giving the kid a false sense of security. Then she will furthermore abuse the kid, not realizing she was in the wrong until it was far to late to fix her mistakes, which brings her back to replaying her childhood and calling herself the same things she did her child, then dying from no longer taking care of herself from a deep depression
You should listen to O-light by Kikuo :>
