Do you have a favorite national costume? I really couldn't narrow it down to just one?
Would you like to see even more Miss Universe Philippines content? You can catch it all here >>> bit.ly/3av7tCo
I will be waiting for your review on their Preliminary Interviews! And tonight's the Preliminary Show!
@I am from California oh another jealous indonesian but still unknown in world of pageantry, shame on u🤭
@I am from California next time educate yourself that "indonesia idiot" and "indonesia, idiot" are different, tnx me later
The theme of this year’s national costume is the Manila Carnival Queen, whose crowning is the highlight of the Manila Carnival. The designing team of each candidate just added touches to the ensemble representing each region.
Hi Dani, you should be able to watch replays of all preliminary shows tomorrow for 1 whole day. Just check your link from the email that was sent to you when you bought the season passes
For those who didn't know this year's edition has a theme which is "Manila Carnival Queens", love your reviews Miss Dani💗
Thank you!
I love that there is a theme to be followed for the National Costume competition and it is the "Manila Carnival Queens". So glad to finally see an ode to the first Filipina beauty queens from early 20th century.
The inspiration of Maureen's gown was for sure the Milkfish and Salt. A city in Pangasinan is known for their Milkfish, while the whole Pangasinan is known for Producing Salt = Both Silver-Looking.
Ms. Dani Walker, as always her reviews are balance, fair and positive. She should be a Judge, one day too soon!
I hope that will happen :)
As judge for Miss Universe Philippines for sure.
I really pray and hope that Dani Walker would be invited as an official judge on one of our national pageants here in the Philippines!!! We need a passionate and knowledgeable Queen as a judge!!! Queen! 👑👑👑
I pray too 🙏🏼
Janela Joy Cuaton's National Costume was made by my friend Jearson Demavivas, who also designed and created Catriona's NatCos during the Miss Universe 2018. #SoProud
Oh that's a fun fact. Thanks for sharing!
But Catriona's natcos failed to light up...right?
@@trishiaalmendras9364 yes
@@trishiaalmendras9364 cause the electricity of thailand and the electricity of the Pgilippines is different
@@DaniWalker Pero the way she presentented was the most iconic and climactic for me...like Dani said..when she moved those pieces and BAAM...the girl was serving face...its very fierce and commanding..and the music? Wow.. way to open the music video with girl that has a solid camera appeal..
I'm obsessed with the theme.😍
Hi Danni this year’s theme is all about the Manila Carnival Queens. Despite some liberties in the designs of the costumes, they more or less remained true to the original style of dresses from the Manila Carnival. The winners back then were selected based on ballots and every region or province really took the selling of ballots seriously so that their respective queens will win the 4 coveted titles. It goes without saying that the girls who competed were really the cream of the crop. The Manila Carnival ran between 1908 and 1938 and featured the many industries from each region by showcasing them in pavilions which were grandiose and lit with lights and later on even neon signs. And each year they select the winners for Miss Philippines and her runners up: Miss Queen of Luzon, Miss Queen of the Visayas, and Miss Queen of Mindanao. During the first Miss Philippines contest in 1908 there was even a representative from the US wearing a Miss United States sash. Since the Philippines was a colony of the US, the organizers thought it fitting to please Uncle Sam by inviting a beautiful girl to represent America. That was the first and only time there was a rep from the US. The first winner of Miss Philippines was a beautiful lass from Iloilo, Pura Villanueva, the very same province which produced Rabiya Mateo. Pura became a suffragist and leader of women’s rights, she was also the first Filipina to run a newspaper. Her daughter Maria also became Miss Philippines in 1934, and was elected as one of the first if not the first woman senator of the country. This also explains why this year’s national costume has no warrior princesses or mythical figures, just purely Manila Carnival style costumes. Hope this enlightens you a little bit, thanks.
maureen killed it
she's like an ice queen ❄️👸
Hi Dani! The inspiration for all these national costumes is from The Philippine Carnival Queens (The Earliest Beauty Queens in the country during the Americal Colonial Era 1908 - 1939.)
Oh wow!!! Thank you for sharing that
@@DaniWalker It's my pleasure. :)
Your review is very fair, true, and with standards and I am hoping you should be a judge next year's Philippines pageant.
Thank you so much!
I love your energy, excitement, and enthusiasm in reacting and commenting about these national costumes. And you are right, it could have been better had they showcased each one a bit longer while explaining the meaning behind it. International fans will understand and hopefully inspire other future candidates, designers, and national organizers. Please keep doing what you're doing as you're absolutely a delight to watch and hear. Love from Toronto. ❤️
Thank you so much 🥰
Maureen nailed it.
love your own lol
Every fabric like what Vincy and Janella were wearing were patterned from tribal fabrics that they represent. The bold colours are unique to indigenous groups in the Philippines.
Thank you!!!
Some are inspired from a bangus (fish) ,bakunawa a moon eating serpent, kuyamis festival, their grand mother( who are also a carnival queen),and the beautiful sea. I'm not sure if it's correct but I hope you can check Tita Lavinia's video you will get a lot of innfo regarding these national costumes.
The filming of the National Costume Show + Preliminary Swimsuit and Evening Gown happened on Rousanne's birthday! She was glowing on that day!! I'm glad you noticed her. 💗💗💗
That’s so cute!!
Miss Cebu Province national costume is Wow my favorite ,Janela joy costume is a Muslim inspired costume though all the national costume are Unique
There are very interesting and educational stories behind the national costumes. How I wish Empire Philippines has videos of each dress on their channel but I think some of the ladies have it in their own IG page. Cebu City has one amazing video. Maureen's is inspired by the Bangus or Milkfish which her province is known for.
I also love the national costume of Miss Cagayan de Oro.
my advice is to travel in the indigenous tribes in the philippines and learn the meaning from the people itself
That's a great idea. I'd love to have the opportunity!
My cousin Megan Julia Digal the tan brown Golden Cinderella Girl***
Beatrice Gomez NatCos is beyond perfect ❤️
I love romblon
Pangasinan and Cebu province❤️
My favorite was from Ms. Albay!

Congratulations 🎉
THANK YOU 😭♥️
The theme is "Manila Carnival QUEENS" not the other people thinks as literal "CARNIVAL". People saying that MUPh theme was a Carnival, is uneducated, bully, and insecure. Manila Carnival Queens is a pageant way back during American Era. The event is for the USA and PHILIPPINES; I think Americans wants also have a white representative or winner (I'm not sure). American Queen called as Queen of Occident, while Philippine Queen called as Queen of the Orient. It is controversial, because there are two queens rather than one. On the other note, Manila Carnival Queens is one of the most popular contest before World War II. In fact, Manila Carnival Queen created not only as a beauty pageant, but to promote culture to the other nationalities; its also an exposition. Siam and Russia was invited before to participate as performer or exhibitors. The first winner from the Philippines, is the most loved or most favorite by the other people such as media, than the American Queen Marjorie Radcliffe Colton (sister of a former Chief of Customs). Philippines' Queen name is Purita Kalaw, Ilongga (like Rabiya), Filipino-Spanish, feminist, advocate for women's right, and has a great influence towards people in her hometown, even before she joined Manila Carnival Queen pageant.
Katrina Dimaranan all the way..
The purple on her was gorgeous!
i've been waiting for thisss
Thanks for waiting :)
They were all stunning! The set up, the music, the edit, the costumes were just perfect. I would say that Romblon( Jan Nicole M. Miñano) is one of my favorites ❤️
I loved hers too! Sooo many small details in the fabrics.
I would love to see you in our National Costume!.!. #please
The costumes were a tribute to the Manila Carnival queens which are considered “the roots” of Philippine pageantry.
Jasmine’s Costume, according to sources, was “hand painted”. They were not embroidered :).
As you can see, there are a lot of elements that reminded us of the 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s. Aklan’s (Christelle) Hair is very put together.
Beatrice’s costume is inspired by “Bakunawa”, a mythological creature in the Philippines which said to be a monster who ate the 7 moons.
There are a LOT of other stories behind these costumes Dani. Thank you so much for loving and appreciating Philippine Pageantry!
This is Miss Manila's inspo. I read her caption last time, so this maybe a bit off, but I'll try stating what she said.
The figures painted in her costume were inspired by Pre-Colonial Filipino Women, who were very influential back then, as they were given lots of opportunities. I think the certain figures that look like thet're floating or look "windy" (if that makes sense) are inspired by Babaylans, who were basically priestesses during that time, doing rituals for celebrations and whenever someone in their village would need spiritual assistance. The other ornate details, like the bejeweled bag/purse, and her crown/headband were inspired by the different Catholic Churches' architectures that is very present in Manila.
Yay!! I've been waiting for it ma'am dani! ☺️
Hope you like it!
Watch Tita Lavinia's youtube channel, she has explained most of the contestants' national costume. 🙂
You look like Meghan Markle!
I finally put my finger on it after watching several of your videos.
I’ve been told 🥰
The fact that these costumes are way more better and relevant than what Rabiya's wore in the the MU.
Exactly!!!
Wrong designer maybe for the event?
Romblon's aura and costume was soo unforgettable for me
for you only
Miss Universe PH you should get Miss Dani Walker as one of the judge soon, because she is so brilliant in judging. ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you so much!!
@@DaniWalker yeah I also remember Meghan markle
Hi Miss Dani! Just for additional information. The Manila Carnival Queen competition was conducted yearly until World War 2 happened. This is also what inspired pageantry in the Philippines.
Maureen ❤❤
Hi Dani, the theme for this year's National Costume pays tribute to our past MANILA CARNIVAL QUEENS hence the reason why crowns and head dresses are staple on most of the designs. The designers also infused their creations by colaborating with some indegenous tribe by utilizing hand made fabrics such as the tinalak from mindanao, pineapple fabric from the south luzon region, rinestones, pearls and even coconut. Designers also brought their own twist by influencing their designs from which the region are best known for. Hope these info help. Lots of love from the Philippines ❤🇵🇭
PAGEANTRY will be BORING without the PHILIPPINES
A little Trivia on Ms. Jasmine Umali Costume is Basically inspired Of the BLESSED VIRGIN MARY in our country. It also shows how Important Religious Beliefs (Catholic) in our country,It has Angels On The Back Part and we can't deny that When she Turned her Head to the CAMERA It feels HEAVEN 😍
But actually My Favorite in National Costume is from Ms. AKLAN and CEBU they just give us the substance and Details in our Culture (as a FILIPINO).And I strongly Believe that makes Them more STANDOUT😍☺️
Thanks for sharing this!!! 🥰
Hello Ms. Dany 8:07 is the T'boli Costume of Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, Philippines. This Costume was also worn by Ms. Catriona in her video introducing Mindanao Philippines.
Stunning.

Hello miss Dani This is the meaning of the costume of miss Pangasinan and the meaning of the other candidates was on their social media account as well as the close up video and photo of there costume
PANGASINAN
Miss Universe Philippines candidate Maureen Wroblewitz’s national costume is inspired by Pangasinan’s treasure, the Bangus.
Nestled by the sea and traversed by seven rivers, this National Costume was designed to represent the hardworking fish traders of the Province that thrive amidst the Pandemic.
The elaborated ensemble was executed in an all-silver avant-garde modern Filipiñana style that includes scale-like headdress, fish fin-structured train, and silver tassel that exhibits the seven rivers of Dagupan City. The silver beads, crystals, and sequins were hand-embellished as a representation of the rich and fine salt beds of the Province where it was derived and owed - “panag asinan” - where salt is made.
by the way I love you and all your reaction 💝💝
Hi Dani, I wish you could also vlog with your cousin and react together.
That’d be hilarious actually. It’s so hard to get time with her 😭
foriegn citizen help us! reach it with pageant organizations like this, when they don't win they don't continue their purpose please help us help our community don't let us down again
What is Miss Philippines USA?
Can you make a vlog about that pageant for those people who are not familiar like me ♥️
If MET this year had the same theme, it could have been this magnificent. #JustSaying
This year's national costume show was different thab the past one bc this year in particular had a theme to be followed which is Manila Carnival Queen. The first beauty pageant in the philippines i think? So their costumes were like the traditional gowns that were used by philippine pageant queens in the 1900 and also notice how their gowns had the same cuts and ofc they just incorporated a bit of representation of something their province is known for.
i like steffi national costume it's meaningful in cebu because shes religious woman that's why team choose that yellow gown.. thank you for your opinion
OMGGGG MY DREAM IS FOR MS. DANI WALKER AND THE SOVEREIGN TO JUDGE 😻😻😻
Simone Bornilla's - Ms Marinduque - nat cos is very similar to Francesca Hung's - Ms Universe Australia 2018 - evening gown. Oliver Tolentino's designs always look referenced and derivative.
Try to make a video of our very own lackluster Miss USA. Ha!
Steffi aberasturi cebu province
Dani You look super fresh ❤
Thank you!!

Dani your so happy to watch as always! 😍
😊 truly
Janella Joy, Albay wore a similar headdress that Catriona Gray showcased in MU NATCOS2018. Catriona Gray represented Albay too during BBPINAS.
Both NatCos wore by Cat during the Miss Universe 2018 and Janela's were designed and created by Jearson demavivas.
What can you say though that the show was only for 6 minutes? 😭
I needed so much more!
she already said it was too short for her. did you watch?
It wasn't a show it was just a fashion music video 🙄

THANK you for your appreciation of our cultural heritage. God bless your heart. you are so engaging :) :) :)
Some people would wonder why the Prelims and National Costume competition held in CLARK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. Simply because, they want to showcase the place, especially its great architectural design. People saying that Philippines is a poor country, poor powerhouse, cheap, and so on. They do not know that the finale night will hold in Bohol, not in an airport (common sense; its an international airport). I'm excited to see who's gonna win and would fly to Israel with no visa needed hahaha.
totoo? kahit wlaang visa?
@@FunFacts5005 yes, that's because of Manuel Quezon's welcoming the Jewish refugees in WWI from Germany. He welcomed approximately 1,200 Jews in our country. Watch "Quezon's Game" as well as documentaries 🤗
