I play an Engl Fireball 100 with an Engl cab in a US local town deathmetal band, and it is brutal. It cuts through so dam good and the low end is insane.
They're expensive as shit in the US and Thomann won't ship them overseas anymore. I was lucky enough to get a Fireball 25 with a cabinet before they stopped.
@JohnWiku Maybe cuz people figured out what I did; that even with shipping, import taxes, and the voltage transformer you need to run it, ordering from Europe and shipping overseas works out hundreds of dollars cheaper than buying a US model. I saved like $600 doing it that way, and I got a Fireball in red which isn't available in the US.
@magneto9210 100% even in my country that's true. While a sm58 is around 200$/225$ I can just order one from sweetwater and a bunch of other overpriced (cus everything is) and get it in my front porch sometimes without taxes
Most people seem to forget that Engl is also a tiny boutique-ish company. At least in that regard, saying Engl is to Europe what M/B is to US is a bit far fetched.
The smaller ENGL amps like the screamer 50, fireball 60 or the older thunder 50 are THE go to used amps on the german used market. Sub 500 bucks for a combo or head, easy. UNfortunately most technicians dread working on ENGL because everyone who every had mine in the shop claimed its just double the work to actually get to the parts since they are built so german (ie complicated).
As an American I didn’t know about ENGL amps for many years. Started playing in ‘91 but I never saw them in the guitar magazines. When I saw Destruction live (after waiting 30 years!) I heard him play the amps live and immediately loved their sound! The Savage is my favorite, and they’re expensive as hell here in the U.S. so I doubt I’ll have one anytime soon lol 🤘
I just bought the morse engl 20 and I am very happy about it. With the footswitch I basically have four very quality channels from clean to chug. Reverb and delay on board. No pedals needed. Best amp I have bought in a very long time.
I have a few high end amps; my Engl Artist Edition 100 E651 is my favorite amp. Sounds amazing, versatile, does plexi and more Marshall tones, and beyond, into modded territory. Worth the price in the US.
I use the E530 preamp. Trve Black Metal \M/ I also used a Thunder 50 Head for a few years and it was incredible for the price and size for rock and metal. The E530 is the bedrock of the savage / Blackmore preamp sections. It can sound absolutely incredible. You can nail the Stormblåst album tone from Dimmu Borgir and most of the Moonsorrow Albums as they use it exclusively.
I have myself an ENGL Powerball 2, and it's a fucking amazing amp! It's also pretty unique here in the states. I've only ever run into 1 other musician that has one.
i've seen a Blackmore signature model in classified ads here in germany for 600€ couple weeks ago. they can be quite affordable used over here. Mesa stuff on the other hand, there is no 3 figures with mesa, you'd hardly find anything with "rectifier" in it's name below 2000€ on the used market, also there is no dealer in germany currently offering Mesa Boogie products of any kind new.
The cost difference between Engl and American amplifiers used to be far greater. Before they got popular, you could pick up a 5150/6505 for 900 bucks, new.
I love my ENGL Savage, it's so fun, no pedals or anything because i actually don't need them with this amp(maybe a delay or reverb to get a bit more ambience)
That is what it is! I was about to comment that I thought it was a King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard song. They do have an album that has those kinds of riffs and the song Road Train has a similar chunky ass riff
With as crazy as M/B prices are, even in the States (thanks Gibson), Engls aren't that bad of a deal now. A Savage 120 is the same price as a Dual Rec, and the Fireball is less than $2k Mesa doesn't have any amp with more than 25w for less than $2k. Biggest advantage for Mesa is a better used market.
Love that scooped mids sound on the fireball amp model on my Pod Go. I'm American, I'd buy an ENGL to go with my LTD M7 Deluxe 🤷♂️ If I had extra money to be buying expensive shit of course which I so don't. I spent $500+ on a puffco peak pro and a 3dxl chamber. Now I'm too fkn stoned off hash rosin to give a hot damn about my broke ass amp(s) 😭😭😭
Gotta love the combination of import taxes and cult of personality (the concept, not the song) making these amps (as well as Diezels and H&Ks) as expensive as used cars
You said peavey wrong 😂. The only reason I get hesitant with engl is knowing they could have problems down the road. Don't want that headache. They sound awesome though
Agufish.wich one yo recomend thes best for new metal the savage or the special edition latest adition of engl.i saw a video where yo Say that savage has a unique tone that no one of the others amps had.and the magic comes from the two 6506 tubes.is the new special edition comes with this sound or is diferent fron the savage.i dont know wish one choosse
I’ve always really wanted an Engl savage but the best I can find is like $2400 used Not that I can afford it but seeing how a new one on Thomann is less than the best used price here, it’s kinda made me not want to buy one
Too bad I can not get on with my Engl Invader 100. I wish someone would buy the damn thing so i can get a Mesa Boogie Triple Crown! Anyone in utah or close who wants to but a premium Engl Invader 100 with cover and Z12 footswitch or trade for a Mesa Boogie Triple Crown or Badlander? I prefer the Triple Crown but I have owned a badlander and want another back in my possession. I'd prefer 100 watt versions but I am down with 50 watts also. Hmu
I would if…A: I lived in a house not a condo and…B: if I could afford a head amp and pedals etc. As far as music I like to play, there is no better sound than an Engl amp.
Because if it breaks no body can fix it, it costs an arm and a leg to ship it, fix it, and send it back. Just use a computer with the amp already on it.
My first amp was a used Crate Blue Voodoo 6212. God, I miss this amp. But yeah, I never got the idea behind telling someone they can't play an 8 string because they're "not good enough". First off, music is no sport. You aren't able to be a objectively better artist than someone else. Second, great gear is nothing you have to earn the right to buy. It's just a product everyone can buy. If someone wants to buy a 10.000 dollar Fodera bass just as a wall hanger, they can do it. Third, what exactly changes about one's day if the grunge kid from another town plays a Squier or a PRS private stock?
Link to a full video on ENGL’s latest flagship amp down below (right below my username on mobile)! 🤘
THE Power Metal sound! Guys like Kai Hansen from Helloween and Hide from X Japan were early adopters in the late 80s! Love my little E530 rack unit!
hide used a engl??
@@water9026 E520 preamp and the respective power amp on Jealousy!
@@STORMBREAKER_250 oh shit I never knew that thank you!!
I didnt know Hide used ENGL. It sounded Marshallish to me.
@@JV8901 Pata had some 800s and modded Plexis. Hide started messing with Rack gear after Blue Blood. I think he also used VHT stuff at one point.

So stupid. Why would you intentionally cut yourself off from the biggest market for your product?
I wonder why it is that they don't ship amps overseas anymore...

Sweetwater.
I use an Engl based IR in my signal chain. Sounds awesome! I used to be a Mesa fan and have really been digging Engl lately. 🤷♂️

NO WAY THIS GUY JUST PLAYED PAINT YOUR TARGET!?!? I thought I was the only person who still listened to Fightstar!

Paint your target :000
Well if I ever switch from solid state to tubes, I’ll consider engl

Tell me about it...I bought a couple Hesu Demon speakers, and while it was worth it, the shipping was fucking STUPID.

as far as versatility goes, I agree with your enthusiasm about the screamer and the powerball; the fireball, not so much
I've been rocking an ENGL fireball 100 for some time. My gas for amps finally stopped! Love that thing
That Rammstein lick was awesome
Because they're freaking expensive, man.
😂
My Engl Fireball 25 is my favorite amp. If they made one with separate EQ for each channel. I would buy it without a second thought.
I dont like them much, but learned that they are made in the town next to mine in Bavaria 😅

Lee From Born Of Osiris used one Back in the day before everyone started using AxeFXIII....it stood out 🧐
The absolute best amps out there!

Did I just hear a bit of Paint Your Target...
Jason Richardson used to play an ENGL, before his PRS era.
I think you answered your own question in the video... they're more expensive in the US than MB, Freedman, or other high gain amps.
ENGL is the best. Period. I will play nothing else. They are sick AF! Best spindle for all Metal

I can't really afford amps over $1000, but I'd truly love to have a Fireball 25. Of course, if they wanted to send me one to feature on my channel...
Even the e530 free vsts was on par with 5150
