I didn't want to take up time in the video with the full story, but here's what happened with the smoothie: In August of this year, I was sketching out my cover page for September while enjoying a smoothie for breakfast. A 16 oz, bright red, mixed berry smoothie. While reaching for my eraser I knocked over the smoothie and it fell directly on my Notebook Therapy Nighttime Edition Tsuki Bullet Journal. I cleaned up the smoothie as fast as I could and then used a hair dryer to dry the pages. Once dry, the pages were wavy and stained red. I tried ripping out the damaged pages, but the more damaged pages I removed, undamaged pages started to fall out as well and the notebook became unusable. This incident made me rethink a lot of aspects of my planning process and I decided to continue bullet journaling, but in a binder instead! The other lesson this event taught me is that I was letting Instagram likes decide what to do in my bujo, instead of what actually makes me more productive. So I'm still going to share my bujo on my Instagram and RUclips, but I'm not going to tailor it to what I think will get likes. I'm just gonna do my thang and if people like it, they like it. If not, that's fine. But it will be real.
Thank you for stopping the madness, lol! The bound journals are so aesthetically pleasing, but for me they were just a nightmare; can't re-order pages, can't make a mistake - one ink (or smoothie) mishap and that page haunts you forever. Eventually I freed myself from bound journals and went to the 5x8 ring binder; still not a huge footprint in meetings and able to add, remove, re-order as needed, so then I at least used it. But, I still felt myself bristling against the page size. I would find templates I wanted to use and they'd be the regular 8.5x11, so I'd need to trim and hole punch..still no good. This weekend I found my 5x8 and realized I haven't used it since working from home; didn't even order 2021 calendar pages, because I was just so turned off to everything being so one-off. I scavenged around and found my standard size 3-ring in decent condition, and immediately the relief was palpable and the excitement started. Because it doesn't matter that it's banged up, I can USE it right now and if I need to swap later I can. It's crazy in retrospect to think about being constrained to a bound book. The ultimate form versus function dichotomy. Your video is the first one I found after deciding to stop the madness, so I'm excited to see someone else's choices If I like something I can just print it, or replace it, or move it to the front, etc. Thanks, and looking forward to it.
What a beautiful bujo in a binder video! I'm also having my bujo in a binder. It gives you much more freedom and at the end, you can bind it with a sewing machine. Best, Stella
i can't wait to get started ! decided to bullet journal instead of getting a planner for the next year and was looking around for a journal, then i saw they have loose leaf dot pages and thought - THAT is just ideal
I love the idea of doing a bullet journal In a binder! I haven’t done a planner in a binder for awhile and I’ve been watching tons of planner videos 😆 great video!
I absolutely love this setup! definitely one of my faves. Your smoothie incident definitely hit home. I often feel that I get too caught up with trying to make my spreads look aesthetic and pretty and completely lose out on the very essence of bullet journaling. *The PRODUCTIVITY!* Definitely made me rethink how I approach my journaling, and im so excited to be more productive in 2021!
Thank you!! And, yes, I do not judge others who prioritize aesthetics over productivity...but that just ain’t me! And the smoothie incident was the wake up call I needed
My binder is from Franklin Covey and the paper is use is 163 GSM cardstock that I print my dot grid on. It ends up being less than a penny per page. There’s more info in this video ruclips.net/video/eGEFksc_yYk/видео.html if you’re interested!
I like your ring binder planner. I just switched to a binder as well but the rings are small. It was cheap off Amazon (like $12). I figured I’d see if I like it and so far I really do! Where did you find your binder? What size are the rings? I just watched two of your videos and they’ve been very helpful. Thank you!!
I have never had a permanently bound bullet journal. They idea of that gives me anxiety. I keep discbound one. I keep one quarter at a time in there. Every quarter, take out the completed quarter and add blank pages for the next quarter. Keep up with what works for you!

Great video, thanks for sharing
where did you get the curved edged inserts?
I like the binder look. What paper are you using? Where did you get your supplies? Thanks!

I agree! I wish I had done it even sooner
Instant follow! You’re literally the cutest!!! I’m a pen snob but that gold uniball seems heavenly! You said you got it at walmart?
🥺🥺 tysm
Yes! It was in a 3 pack with Gold, Silver and white and they all write evenly and smoothly, like better than my gelly rolls 🤫🙈
Staples also, and you can buy them individually. Gold and are my favs.
