    Thank you for the review. I’m looking at my upgrade options right now. I do some 3d work that my 2018 mbp struggles with. My 16 gb RAM gets filled up quick. Plus my gpu only has 4 gb which makes premiere struggle. I think I will have the issues you pointed out with the unified memory if I chose this config. I might have to go with the Mac Studio and get 128gb of unified memory.

    • @aksndrv
      @aksndrv  2 года назад +3

      I think the 128gb Mac Studio it's a great idea. And when the new After Effects for M1 native will be officially released we're going to see much improvement there. Until then, we have to keep in mind the AE will still struggle with any configuration, I've seen people with full desktop workstations 128GB RAM, Threadripper 3990x and tons of SSD storage and still struggling with After Effects

    @Vagelis Mokos: What do you recommend, the (Macbook pro 16’) M2 max 32GB or the M1 max 64GB, and why? For video editing

    • @aksndrv
      @aksndrv  Год назад +2

      Honestly I would go for M1 max 64GB. It depends on what program you're using for video editing but After Effects for example is running (almost) all processes with a single core and RAM is more important in this scenario. Indeed, with the new versions of AE there are some processes (like RAM preview and rendering) that are using multi-core but overall AE will perform better with more RAM and less cores rather than more cores and less RAM

    Great video. When you are working on full hd projects and not using 3d, does the AE stills struggle because of the 16gb of ram?

    • @aksndrv
      @aksndrv  2 года назад

      Thank you Michell, if I'm using only graphic elements, it struggles a little bit but you can still work on the project just fine (just like I showed in the last example with the logo animation project. That was full hd with just a bit of 3d movement). But if I'm using video clips it struggles pretty hard, I can't really work with that.

      Glad you enjoyed! Yes, I use plugins and they work because After Effects still runs through Rosetta (at least in my case, I use the 2021 version). Adobe released a new version of After Effects which is native for the M1 chip and I'm not sure if plugins will work on that version too. But for now, everything works just fine

    I bought the m1 max, 64 gb ram, the mac daddy of specs., $6000Cdn..14-inch and I returned it because it was terrible running After Effects. My 2018, 32gb ram runs After Effects way better.

      @@JussimirPasold yeah I videod a comparison. For a 10-second video, my 2018 rendered it in 18 seconds. My M1 Max was still struggling 2 minutes later. Not joking. It said it was going to be an hour and 28 minutes to render it out. Not joking.

    Yep, After effects EATS whatever ram you have set for it to eat. I gotta say if I was doing motion all the time I’d have the 64GB RAM option, 512GB SSD and bought an 2TB SSD external for cache. Just sayin.
