There are not many comparisons of the M1 Pro against the M1 with After Effects, so this is greatly helpful. Surprisingly, not too much of a difference. Yeah a little more on average, but not that much more. Besides the last two projects, where the M1 got crushed on Project 4, but crushed the M1 Pro on Project 5????

@@aksndrv well I have a desktop pc so it doesn’t come with the insane display of the MacBook pros or their speakers or MacOS etc. Plus, making a portable computer is much much more expensive. Annnnd I’m having a very hard time adjusting the settings to optimize the system on windows.
What is ur current opinion on- pc OR M1 MBP 16gm Ram- for After effects usage? Is performance good in MBP M1 16gb with the current version of AE? Which Os software version u r currently on?
Thank you for these updated videos on AE with the m1 machine. I wonder if this AE significantly improved in performance has anything to do with it utilizing more of the GPU cores? Do you think the Max chip would have a better performance?
If I were to choose again my macbook I would still choose the one with 10-cores CPU but I would add more RAM memory. After Effects uses 80% of time the CPU so I wouldn't spend money on upgrading the GPU. There are some effects that use the GPU but mostly the cpu is used. So what I recommend is to stay with the m1 pro and spend the rest of the money on ram memory if you want. I feel like 32gb version would be very needed
MacBook Air only has like 8GB of RAM. I notice when loading up stuff it can even use like 80GB of RAM out of 96GB. How does the MacBook Air perform if you start loading up a lot of stuff?
Hi, thank you for the great work! I think you are the first one to test this. I am just curious, with this new update, do you think the 16GB RAM is enough for you (or for similar work you tested in this video)? I saw your reply under another comment that 32GB is still very needed, but I am just wonder if I can get away with SWAP memory and use the same budget to upgrade the SSD instead?
Thank for the feedback, glad you enjoyed! Before this update I would have said that 16GB is not a good option at all but now I think you can get away with it. But again, not for complex projects. AE is still a very RAM dependent software so don't try to neglect this.
@@aksndrv thanks for the reply. Would you recommend going for the 10/24 M1 Max on the 14” for AE? Is M1 Pro + 32GB be enough for more complex projects?
@@bassereric I would say yes, m1 pro with 32gb will be enough. But please watch more videos on this subject and inform from other sources as well so you can build a solid opinion.
@@aksndrv Thank you. Yes, I am watching every 14" M1 Max/Pro testing video I can find. But very few has real-world or synthetic AE tests like you did.
