I'd go for the classic 6in Spohr non fluted cylinder with a pic rail on top.
The colt
If I had the money I would buy the Spohr. I love the clean but unique look of it. The cylinder, grips, hammer and trigger
I say get the Spohr. First, I'm not big fan of engraved guns, but also, you've already got plenty of Colts, including the snake guns. The Spohr would be something new and different, and if somehow you later decide you don't really want it, it shouldn't be difficult to get most of your money back through re-sale, if not even turning a profit (but be careful not to make the ATF think you're a dealer!).
damn difficult desicion, but i say the spohr. its a sporting revolver, maybe not ideal for carry but the ultimate example of quality.
spohr because it adds to the high end revolver collection you started
GET THE SPOHR!!!!
The colt for sure even less engraving
I say the Sophr. Beautiful pistol!!
Go with the Colt. You like beautiful engravings and it’s not as ruinously expensive.
Not only do you want the Spohr… YOU NEEEEED ONE!
Hey Yankee, ole boy, here’s my two cents on your question: As I ponder which revolver to choose between the Spohr CLUB EDITION 3.0 .357 Magnum and the Altamont Royal Fish Scale Colt Python 3" - Grade AAA, my inclination towards extreme quality and reliability becomes the focal point. The Spohr CLUB EDITION 3.0 exemplifies German engineering excellence. Crafted from stainless steel, it promises exceptional durability, further enhanced by the optional PVD coating that resists wear and corrosion. Its cold hammer-forged polygonal match barrel ensures top-tier accuracy and long service life, making it a standout for precision shooting. The revolver’s smooth operational feel, devoid of MIM parts, and its customizable trigger system that allows for a light, crisp pull, are attributes I highly value. This level of craftsmanship means the Spohr is engineered for a flawless shooting experience, with robust components that contribute to its reliability and longevity. In contrast, the Altamont Royal Fish Scale Colt Python appeals with its blend of classic design and functional excellence. The Colt Python is renowned for its superb balance and smooth trigger pull, and the Altamont edition adds a touch of luxury with its intricate fish scale engravings and high-grade wood grips. This revolver is not just a tool but a work of art, and its historical prestige as one of the finest revolvers ever made cannot be overlooked. While it might lack some of the modern engineering advancements of the Spohr, its proven track record and robust build make it a highly reliable choice. Additionally, the Colt Python comes at a more accessible price point, offering excellent value for a premium revolver. Thinking aloud, my preference leans heavily towards the Spohr CLUB EDITION 3.0. Its advanced engineering, superior materials, and the exceptional precision of German craftsmanship align perfectly with my desire for the utmost quality and reliability. The higher cost is a reflection of its unparalleled build quality and the bespoke experience it offers, which is what I truly appreciate in a firearm. However, if I were to consider the value proposition and the storied legacy, the Altamont Royal Fish Scale Colt Python presents a compelling alternative. It’s a beautiful piece with a solid performance reputation, making it a worthy addition to any collection. In conclusion, my decision favors the Spohr CLUB EDITION 3.0, acknowledging its premium engineering and flawless operation, despite its higher price. This choice aligns with my values of extreme quality and reliability.
Horses are for eating, love mare flank yum yum. So Spohr.
Spohr, you already have several Colt Snakes.
Ok you should go for the Colt Python engraved version. You have already a couple but you don't have that edition that maybe won't be around to long . And will be a great Unicorn in your collection! 😉
The Spohr all day and twice on Sundays.
If it's a you'll get both eventually anyway get the Spohr. You just bought a Colt, a bit of variety is cool
Go for gusto, get the Spohr 😂
100% engraved Colt Python
I’d go with the Colt. It’s beautiful and you probably won’t be scared to touch it
I don't like the spohr cylinder profile. Look great unfluted though . The colt .. looks better without the engraving imho . M
The Colt engraved revolver is way more eye catching, and if you ever needed cash, it would sell quick. I know that’s what I would pick 👍
The Spohr. You have lots of colt´s anf know how they work, etc. But you don´t have a Spohr, so it is a new gun to research and test.
Get the Spohr. You already have Colt revolvers so expand to a different Mfg.
The COLT
I would love to see you compare the Spohr to your Colt. You did such a fantastic job on explaining the difference between the S&W and Colt revolvers. I’m curious to see what you are getting for your money at 4 times the price of a Colt revolver. Is it 4 times better or is there a lot of diminishing return on the pistol? I get it, that it is made of the best materials by highly skilled gunsmiths, but it’s like getting a 80 dollar fork. At some point you have to seriously ask if you are getting a superior performing pistol or are you buying high end materials and workmanship that achieve the same goal.
The Spohr
The Spohr is so unique that not everyone will recognize how special it is, and therefore not be impressed. But everyone will appreciate an engraved Python!
Ultimately, just choose what impresses you the most. Or just get both!
Spohr. It sounds like you want it more.
Buy Spohr. You have many Pythons anyway.
I'd say the Sphor. It looks pretty cool with the skeletonized trigger and hammer, plus it simply looks better. Not a fan of the engraved guns, it looks like it's plagued with measles or something like that! 😂
Buy the spohr. It’s an expensive gun but I believe it’ll hold its value and may be hard to find in the future and go up in value.
The Snakeskin Engraved is a Beautiful Gun and it would save you $$$$$$
Colt!
Go with the Colt so that once it's all paid for, you'll still end wanting the Spohr. You ultimately need both.
With the way the US dollar is getting inflated by the federal reserve. That $4,000 dollar gun might cost $5,000 in a few years.
Any barrel length suggestions on that Spohr? I want to get the extra cylinder also? 9mm is cheaper practice. Now that sounds funny after paying that price but my granddaughter is coming around to firearms(self protection). Now she’ll have an older Python and a Spohr. At 70 I don’t think I’ll wear it out before me. Classes will be coming up for her. Many people out there know much more than me. I want no bad habits and self defense classes(real ones) may help.
You know which one
I'd say save up for the Spohr for now, even if you change your mind later. The Spohr would round out a sort of collection with the Manhurin and Korths you have as top quality guns.
The Spohr for Sohr.
Honestly, I’m not a big fan of revolvers myself…but…if I had to choose between those 2 options I’d go with the Colt. Only my opinion lol😸🏴☠️🍺🏴☠️😸
Just save your money and get both of them
I vote Spohr for sure; looks like an amazing level of production and execution I would like to get one at some point myself. Nightwood Guns reviewed the Spohr and was very positive. He will state issues within his review so not sure you can trust anyone, but he has a record of positive, negative, and neutral reviews not all positive so I tend to believe he is being honest. I'm sure you will bye the engraved Colt haha.
The Python. Definitely.
Save for the spore and get two colts
I would say the spore just for the fact that you don’t have that brand.
Both😂
Get the colt, that way you don't have to sell as many current firearms.
SPOHR. The other one it's just an ordinary Colt with too much engraving. From any point of view (collection, commercial, functional) the Spohr it's going to be a classic, an engraved modern Colt could be even difficult to sell. Yes, it's expensive, but you could get rid of a few menial revolvers in order to have another brand of excellence. By the way, when a review of the Diamondback SDR?
Get the colt, it’s half the price and you don’t have to sell as many or any to get it
Spohr. You know you want it.
Colt
In this hypothetical situation where you ask what your viewers would do, I'd get the Spohr. You already own some Colt guns.
Spohr, of course.
Time to broad your horizons, Spohr.
Shiny Mushroom
Who knows if Heir Spore will survive. He dies and so does production.
Neither, just not a wheel gun guy....trade them for something else...lol
The best gun shop in my Country dont have the revolvers you have at home 😥😥😥🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Oh the colt.
Doesn't matter which crazy over-priced revolver that you won't carry or even shoot?
Spohr, I can't carry a engraved gun so there you have it.
Get the Spohr
As you usually do, get both.
idk the engraving honestly doesn't look good. Maybe it's the photo/optical illusion but it just looks laser engraved to me. At that point overpaying for the colt while the spore if it's similar quality to korth then the expense is justified by all the fitting and precision. Especially since lately you seem to be wanting more higher end stuff. Nighthawk, korth etc. so your tastes have more towards the amazement of craftsmanship. If in person the engraving looks way better than in the photo that would be the only way I'd say colt but from what i cam see that makes the gun look cheaper not better.
If it were me I would go with the German made Spohr since you already do have a lot of Colt Pythons. I would say both are great, though, and I do very much like the engravings on that particular Python so you can't really go wrong either way. In the end go with your gut and not our suggestions or the pleas of mercy coming from your wallet.
Colt! All day long.
Get the spohr
How u like manuhran
Or old Dan Wesson pistol pac 357
Get the Spohr.
Id go with the Colt. Aint no way id pay $4000 for any gun. I am a revolver guy myeslf. I have autos too. But I really like revolvers and have several i regularly carry. But i dont have your delima. I usually have to decide between an RIA 38 or a Heritage Rough Rider. Lol.
Spohr
Get whatever you want it’s your money and your choice. I kinda had the same dilemma. I chose the Spohr. Anybody and everybody can get a Colt if they want one. There is not going to be that many people with Spohr. You haven’t got any experience with the Spohr so you will have more fun getting to know and talk about it. A Colt is a Colt no big deal. Tell someone you have a Colt and they’re like okay cool. Tell someone you have a Spohr and it opens up a whole conversation. But you got to get the one you really want money comes and money goes. You do you boo. 😂
Stick with the Colt.....an engraved example is neat and a true BBQ gun....l
The Altimont could have been better…with an unfluted cylinder and a smaller (wooden) grip…this 3 inch just looks disproportionate…also, they could have put nicer sights on it, like a gold bead (Wilson Combat)…
The Spohr has some odd things going for it, like the ability to have its cylinder swapped without needing tools to do it …
I’m kinda curious about that 9 mm cylinder…would it require moonclips? When Manchurian still manufactured 9 mm revolvers, the inside diameter of the barrel was 2/1000 of an inch smaller than afterwards…it makes you think twice about simply swapping that cylinder…would that revolver be better with 9mm or .357 ammo?
Finally, there is a difference between Spohr revolvers for the US market and the European market…something to do with an extra (internal?) safety…
All in all, I hope you will safe up for the Spohr, shell out an additional 1000 bucks for the extra cylinder and get to the bottom of all this…you are the man to do this job right!!
Besides, your 4.25 inch black Colt is already a proper work of art…so it’s time to expand your horizon 🤗 ;-)
Personally, I like a ‘clean’ gun, not a fan of engraving on it, especially to the extent showing on the Python picture. But I can’t in my mind justify paying 4 grand for a revolver. As much as I have wanted a Python I haven’t been able to even pay the $1500 for one.
But I know you like engraving and the Spohr won’t do anything that the Python won’t. I vote the engraved Python.
The Spohr has a sexy factor that turns non revolver people into revolver people. That alone is worth it in my opinion.
Just buy two Colts and have money leftover
Off-topic a little bit I would stick with Ruger are they perfect and come out perfect every time no but when you send it back for an issue you have it back within a week. Smith & Wesson quality is crap and if you do send it back you’ll wait two months to get it back and sometimes it’s the way you send it with no repair. Just search on RUclips and you’ll see all the issues people have with their guns I’ll never buy a new Smith & Wesson revolver again
Spohr. I've watched pretty much every interview with the head guy (even the subtitled in German) and there is passion behind his craft. So even if it's not fully worth the hype- in the end, you'd get a super rare work of art (in the states) that's also a new gun. The Colt would be just some common art on a common gun. Honestly, you sort of have to go big, plus we need to know if we need to shell out too. I'm sorry for your financial loss.
Why not get the Spohr 283 Carry?
Colt Colt Colt ❤❤❤
I personally don't like the looks of the engraved python at all
Spohr for sure
I would get the python…
If you are buying it for cool factor and collecting the German gun and the colt later but as a carry peace you couldn’t really see the difference in the real world but the colt would make a nice BBQ gun I have my ivory stocked custom 1911 on right now going to a company picnic and like the the German gun nobody knows what it is it’s too old too heavy and unsafe it’s the gun that started the semi automatic craze
Get the Spore
You only live once...
The Cult 👍
Don’t buy either gun. Instead fly to Germany for Octoberfest. I’ll watch beer and food reviews.
Get the Spohr. You only live once, I'm guessing!
Colt. I love colt
Python
If you have the money Spohr all the way.
Get the 5” Python! Oh wait that was my question.
Get the Sphor. If you look at it as a percentage of the total value of your collection, it’s not that expensive. You appreciate the craftsmanship and quality of nicely made revolvers. That will scratch the itch.
Get the Spohr. It’s new and different; it’s your holy grail gun; and already you have a sizable American gun selection. If you get the Spohr and don’t like it, you could sell or trade it for the engraved Python.
Get the Python!
To quote Sir Alec Guiness (as Obi-Wan Kenobi), "You must do what you feel is right, of course." It's a tough call, but you've got plenty of Colts. Go with the Spohr.
Spohr 1000000%! You have plenty Colts and the Spohr is the kind of collection completing, envy educing, high quality revolver that would have a longer lasting release of endorphins. More "My precious" value.
😅oh am blowing my money on a month in Egypt 5 star all the way,il have memories you will have a tangible work of art & creativity irrespective of the choice 😊 enjoy
Tough call, good points. I'm not up to your level yet so I dont have to worry about things like this. I'm picking up my Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan .454 2.5 inch next week! It's one of my grail guns, haha.
The Spohr, Spohr, Spohr. That Colt is ugliest gun I've ever seen.
