Denny saputra That's quite a childish thing to say. I've not heard someone say something like that since I was at school 30 years ago. No she isn't, but I'm sure anyone I to tech would be proud to have Lisa as their mum.
Lenovo came out with this with students in mind! its light enough to travel with between classes and still has enough power to run software like autocad, this lighter system is also lighter on the price point. THANK YOU LENOVO
I am a mechanical engineering student and I bought one of these recently since it has a quadro which is essential for CAD programs such as SolidWorks to run smoothly. The price of a mobile workstation like the P52 makes it less reasonable for students. This one is reasonably affordable and has many of the features I need
I am going to do mechanical engineering next in sep. I need a new laptop, so I might this one to run solidworks and autocad. Anyone find that this laptop is doing its job? I don't care about gaming. Already have a gaming PC at home, so I only want a laptop for school stuff
Replaced my aging 17" MacBook Pro with a ThinkPad since Apple no longer makes a laptop that is either affordable or practical. With the extended battery, I get around 16-30 hours of life between charges, have all the ports, and the finest laptop keyboard.
L470, 1080p IPS, SSD, 8 GB DDR4 (both upgradable). Got it nearly-new for the equivalent of USD $300 with 10.5 months of factory warranty left. So far it's been a great laptop. The trackpad is quite a bit better than I thought it would be (better than the T450S I had for a while).
thinkpads are great since they didn't remove the design of having removable battery, most of the laptop nowadays even those high end ones have built-in non-removable battery which lost its practical purpose of reliability where you can't replace the battery easily as well as to bring extra battery when on the road.
The main reason this exists over the T580 is that the Quadro allows it to be ISV certified which some software companies require to get support. I would see this computer used by people who don't necessarily do the design work, so don't need the outright performance, but do need access to the software to view work or demonstrate work. Examples would be managers or sales people. I personally use Solidworks and they are notorious for denying support for hardware that does not meet their hardware requirements. The P52s would meet their hardware requirements but a T580 doesn't.
Have had this laptop for a few months now. Stocked with the i7-8650u cpu and 16gb ram, I work in Ps Ai Pr daily with no issues. Even rendered an animation in Blendr and it handled that well. Not the most powerful thinkpad in the lineup, but certainly beats a crapbook 😂
Great review!!! After seeing it, I decided that this is exactly what I was looking for: long Battery time, perfect keyboard, 4g modem, fast enough for all I need and thinkpad quality. I'm exactly the guy who was waiting for this notebook. I bought it today for 1100 € and that makes the thing even better :)
Indy E Chery I have a 1 TB nvme ssd and 16 gb of ram, the other components are from the base model. When I'm only using it for programming, browsing, watching RUclips or Netflix I put it in in power saving mode, which other than lowering a bit the screen brightness doesn't have any another noticeable effect to me. In that case the battery will last at least 8 hours, it also depends what type of programming I am doing, if I have something which constantly uses 20-30% cpu it may last a bit less. If the cpu is at 2-5% the fan may not even start. If I use it for playing games or video editing it lasts 2-4 hours depending on how heavy it is. I use davinci resolve for video editing and when I apply color grades on 4k 25 fps footage it starts to lag a bit, since this gpu is not powerful enough for 4k video editing. I haven't done a lot of video editing, so this might be something I did wrong, but if I try to create proxy files from 4k footage it crashes. Problems I had: - In my unit one of the hooks which allows me to remove the battery fell off, so I can't remove the battery unless I use tweezers to loosen the spring underneath, I haven't got time to contact Lenovo but I hope I don't have to send it back, since the part seems user replaceable. - In some situations the Edge browser freezes, but that probably has more to do with how windows works. I got the 48 Wh battery thinking it wouldn't stick out from the bottom of the laptop, but it does, so if you are ok with that why not just buy the 72 Wh battery? (personally I like having the battery stick out a bit). Anyway, I'm really satisfied with this machine.
Thank you again for the review!!! As a developer for mobile & desktop, I'm looking at comparing the T vs the P series. for when on the go. Overall, it's the weight & price which divide me.
Dear Lenovo, You are doing it wrong, Just bring the old Thinkpad keyboards back and don't try to make everything thin like Apple, we need a special device, a thicker one with more ports and better battery life. it's easy you can do this.
Making it thin means a tradeoff with ports and upgradeability or even makes it impossible to fix it yourself. Everyone is making them thin and there is a demand for working machines but no company is filling the gap completly. I have a L570 which is nice to play some games with and good if I am going to be out of mains power for a long time, but my principal computer still is my 2005 T60.... and is not like I wouldn't love a more powerful computer, but simply the newer ones feel like a downgrade.
I find P50 keyboard better as T61 (small tiny esc, whitespace works only in the middle) and x220 (better layout but worse keys and not rigid), so some people like it this way. 4:3 would be great, though, would buy 14" 4:3
To answer why Lenovo indicated the LTE card must get from them is because their BIOS is locked and required both LTE card, and WiFi's FCC ID is from them. This is to guarantee the customer buy the accessory from them (pricey) instead of cheaper generic mini PCI-x, NVMe adapters. It has been a long history of notebook vendors doing this locking including HP, Acer, etc. If you insert a non-Lenovo adapter, the boot up screen will ask you to remove it in order to continue booting
Hi Lisa, great review as usual. Will you review the P52, I would love to see a review on that one. Its a bit more powerful than the P52s and has some other nice features. Don't see much reviews on that model on RUclips yet.
I've been using this laptop around the house for business for 2 years. Glad i paid for the premier warranty. The motherboard has been replaced twice due to faulty charging ports, the power cable has been replaced 4 times due to bad connections. Keyboard replaced twice, --keys kept popping off. Laptop performs well with 24 gigs of ram and an SSD drive. I am not a fan of the USB-C charging ports... based on the issues mentioned.
Bought it when it came out, since then rocking it.. 16gb, 8650 i7 vpro, 256gb nvme SSD, 4g slot, running Adobe Elements Premiere 18 doing 4k Video edit. Love the screen 😻, thr keyboard, USBC charging + full-size SD card reader... Thanks for the review, thought I was the only one buying it 🙈😹
Iam using it with adobe Premiere Elements 18 doing 4k video edit & works properly! I know undervolted the CPU & feel i get more performance & battery life out of it. cheers Michael
thank you so much !, can you tell me something diffenrent P50 vs P52s, because somebody tell me that p52s is weaker than p50 @@, they said P52s just be a ultrabook for office, can't be a real workstation
Hi, Lisa and everyone else in the comment section. I am struggling to find the right laptop. I need a new one from next week on and I still haven't found "the one". Let me tell you quickly what I NEED: 16gb ram (upgradable) , at least 512 gb SSD (upgradable) , good speakers, a 4k display that is suited for video and photo editing, max. 2-2,5 kg, battery up to 10 hours preferred. And this is what I would like to DO with my laptop: Ableton Live music production with loads of vsts, video editing with Davinci Resolve, taking the laptop outside the house several times a week and watching tv series/movies/.... So the ones I like are Dell XPS 15, Lenovo Thinkpad T580 and P52s. Razer Blade 15 is also pretty amazing but too expensive. I don't wanna spend any more than about 2,000€ (around 2,350 USD) though (I am a uni student, so yeah). I would like my laptop to last for at least 5 years. Don't care too much about looks - more interested in the power and build quality. So I considered the ASUS ZenBook Pro 15 in the beginning (without touch trackpad), however, I didn't like the build quality and that you cannot upgrade it to 32 gb ram in the future. Dell XPS 15 is a pretty good deal but I don't like the webcam (wtf, Dell!), the speakers are meh and it doesn't seem it would be good enough for 4k video editing right? Build quality is super and I really like the keyboard but Idk... Lenovo... I have never had a Lenovo but I am so in love with them (build quality, upgradable, power, reliable, ...). HOWEVER I don't know how well the T580 or P52s are suited for video editing and watching tv series etc.. Their displays are not really suited for these things, right? Plus, I don't know whether their graphics cards are any good (don't know much about graphics cards - there are so many different types - help! :o). Btw, not interested in getting a Surface Book - just not getting on board with the 2 in 1 stuff. Speaking of "book", no MacBooks please! So nooooow, my question is: Is anybody out there who can recommend a laptop that will fulfill my requirements? Lisa, maybe you? I trust you more than anybody to be honest :D Your reviews are always the best - very detailed and professional. Looking forward to hearing from you guys. - Kat
I love your videos! I do have a question though: will you be doing a review video on the X1 Extreme (or maybe a smackdown between dell and the X1 Extreme)? I'm a bit put off on Dell due to thermal and bloat (and Lenovo has that toughness reputation). This wouldn't be for gaming, but blender, and adobe cc.
What I will be getting this for is strictly IT related. I want to run a network simulator on it called GNS3. I'm getting the base RAM and storage, then upgrading aftermarket with a Samsung 1TB 970 Pro M.2 and Corsair Vengeance 2x 16GB sticks of RAM. You can save a TON of money by purchasing the base config and just upgrading it on your own, which is what I will be doing. The only thing I'm somewhat worried about is the under powered CPU. It is an i7 but like Lisa said it's more of an ultra book i7. Still deciding but I'm leaning more towards this than the ridiculously expensive P52 and the Dell Precision Workstations. I've heard the newer 6 core CPU's have some overheating issues which is why I"m learning more towards a low powered CPU. Beefy CPU's in laptops are pretty sketchy if you ask me. Too many risks for overheating.
I appreciate the awesome review! But where did you find the info about it having 4 lanes for thunderbolt 3? I've seen elsewhere that it only has 2 lanes due to the low power CPU having a limited amount of pcie lanes available.
In most applications the i7-8550U performance is close to the 7700HQ. This means it has the functional performance of an older generation workstation. This generations i7 U processors are solid workstation options for most applications, IMO.
So much better than the p53s/t590.... last model with a swappable battery, last model with power bridge for hot swapping batteries. Better battery life and arguably better performance than the model that replaced it. Two sodimm slots for memory, no soldered on memory like the t590/p53s... 2.5" drive bay. better thermals.
As you effectively say, next to no difference with the T580 - even the graphics card basically same as the T580 option. And pricing (without offers) seems to be much the same with the T580 being maybe a percent or two cheaper. Even so, likely a good development machine when maxed out with ram and ssd for most developers.
Hi, I just bought LenovoThinkPadP52sWorkstation. One problem. The screen got black. Upon pressing the power 🔋 button, the system starts and shows where it was before the black screen. How 🤔 to fix it? Thanks ✅️
These are business-oriented machines, and businesses tend to stay well behind the cutting edge as far as tech. It's why the P-series has so many legacy features. I'm stunned they finally dropped the VGA port,
Lisa, on which benchmarks, if any, do mobile quadro cards justify their outrageously bad performance/dollar ratio compared to GeForce GTX or Radeon Vega?
This comment is probably too late for any good, but I have one of these laptops at the office and one for home. Both of them heat throttles even when streaming Netflix, much less any real workload. My experience definitely isn't in line with what your review states.
Just looking for a laptop to work, esentially, with resource demanding ArcGIS systems. I began thinking about the XI Carbon series but wouldn't be this one a better choice? Any other suggestions? I'm a bit lost. This is a machine that I'll use for a living not for hobby stuff. I can't fail at this stage. Thanks in advance!
I am getting one with 7th gen i7 2.9 GHz 2 gb quadro M2200 15.6UHD 500GB SSD , 32 GB DDR4 Ram at around Rs. 50,000 / $ 668 My Purpose is 3D Modelling. Please note that in office i have a pc provided by company with GTX 710 for same purpose with 8th gen i5 16GB Ram. Is It recommended to purchase in 2022?
Hi Lisa, I want a slick-looking and thin metallic built laptop for some academic programming kind of workload. Mostly to run Java or python. I found Lenovo IdeaPad 530 S (16 Gb RAM) within my budget. The fact is both of my kidneys may not help me to buy a MacBook Pro (2018, 16GB, 15" screen) in Indian currency. Do you suggest me go for Lenovo ideapad 530 S (16 Gb RAM)??
Really wish they'd extend the integrated battery. The M.2-in-caddy system is horribly space inefficient. You have 13-inch ultrabooks (from Lenovo themselves, even) with far larger batteries...
Hi There!! i have questtion please? I would like to know... can i use the ThinkPad Dock, on my lenovo Thinkpad P52 15.6 G8? No on the P52s would you halp me with that? Thank you.
Ask hers sponsor moron. Or you know, you could make your own but then on the other hand I would not entrust you with anything warm let alone a clothing iron since you being an imbecile you know....
I will try to explain why this may be one of the best choices for professional users. I work in the laser scanning industry, where "mobile workstation" does not exist as a type of a machine for work. You can calculate some basic projects, but serious work with industrial objects, like industrial complexes or civil engineering is just impossible. I have my desktop workstation with i9 9940x and 128 gigs of ram, water cooling and etc. And this laptop. I take it to my work trips, to my objects, to make some on-site pre-processing of field data, sometimes in a construction dust, or oily metallic mist. I can change the battery fast if needed, and it is much more rigid than any ultra-book, but light enough to carry it entire day in your hands, opened and working.
T25 was a marketing exercise, they didnt put anything that the fans requested, nt even the keyboard they made sort of a mix of what fans desired and what they didnt want. it has sub par components, meaning old generation graphics and old gen CPU.
Hi. I'm in a computer security investigation course running virtualization. What thinkpad would u recommend I need at least 8g of ram or more 256gb or more and SSD
Best Review Channel. No screaming, no big words, not too much visual shenanigans. Just straight to the point we need. Love the channel.
ThinkPad... check
Lisa Grade... check

What's not to like about this video?
tnetroP Lenovo?
spykE omega Yes Thinkpads are made by Lenovo. No I do not work for Lenovo and am not associated with them in any way. Yes I do own a Lenovo Thinkpad.
Is she ur mom tnetroP?
Denny saputra That's quite a childish thing to say. I've not heard someone say something like that since I was at school 30 years ago. No she isn't, but I'm sure anyone I to tech would be proud to have Lisa as their mum.
those pencil drawn lips
Lenovo came out with this with students in mind! its light enough to travel with between classes and still has enough power to run software like autocad, this lighter system is also lighter on the price point. THANK YOU LENOVO
Liana Lewis finally! Tired of people complaining about this laptop.
Lisa, could you do a review of the new P53s? Thanks
I am a mechanical engineering student and I bought one of these recently since it has a quadro which is essential for CAD programs such as SolidWorks to run smoothly. The price of a mobile workstation like the P52 makes it less reasonable for students. This one is reasonably affordable and has many of the features I need
I'm also a mechanical engineering student. I agree, the P52 is a little too pricy. Does solidworks run well on the P52s?
Yes mate!!, just bought this P52s for the same reasons, I'm also a mechanical engineer student. Greetings from Ecuador!
@@nicomarroquin1998 thank you sir! I'm hoping to get this machine soon. Good luck with your studies!
Hey, I'm a product design student and will be running autocad and solidworks, how does solidworks run on this?
I am going to do mechanical engineering next in sep. I need a new laptop, so I might this one to run solidworks and autocad. Anyone find that this laptop is doing its job? I don't care about gaming. Already have a gaming PC at home, so I only want a laptop for school stuff
Replaced my aging 17" MacBook Pro with a ThinkPad since Apple no longer makes a laptop that is either affordable or practical.
With the extended battery, I get around 16-30 hours of life between charges, have all the ports, and the finest laptop keyboard.
which thinkpad?
L470, 1080p IPS, SSD, 8 GB DDR4 (both upgradable). Got it nearly-new for the equivalent of USD $300 with 10.5 months of factory warranty left.
So far it's been a great laptop. The trackpad is quite a bit better than I thought it would be (better than the T450S I had for a while).
Apple is on decline. That's for sure.
Finally a mac user that gets it. The new macbooks are toys, serious machines that have good build Thinkpad is pretty much the way to go
thinkpads are great since they didn't remove the design of having removable battery, most of the laptop nowadays even those high end ones have built-in non-removable battery which lost its practical purpose of reliability where you can't replace the battery easily as well as to bring extra battery when on the road.
Watching this on my Thinkpad P52s. :)
Everything she says is true! Excellent audio, especially. Everything else is great!
Thank you. I was looking for a detailed review exactly like this one. Appreciate the differences that you pointed out between P52s and T580.
This will be my next laptop, thanks for the great review!
Did you get it?
Great review!!! After seeing it, I decided that this is exactly what I was looking for: long Battery time, perfect keyboard, 4g modem, fast enough for all I need and thinkpad quality. I'm exactly the guy who was waiting for this notebook. I bought it today for 1100 € and that makes the thing even better :)
Always coming out with the best reviews!!! Great work :)
Pls do the Aorus x7 DT v8... it seems like a very underrated laptop that needs a review
another excellent review. the more Lenovo reviews I see the more I want one!
Awesome! Now do the regular ThinkPad P52 thanks
I bought it 3 weeks ago and it's awesome, I use it for programming and a bit of video editing.
565paolo o paolo565? How's battery life? What specs on your model?
Indy E Chery I have a 1 TB nvme ssd and 16 gb of ram, the other components are from the base model. When I'm only using it for programming, browsing, watching RUclips or Netflix I put it in in power saving mode, which other than lowering a bit the screen brightness doesn't have any another noticeable effect to me.

Problems I had:
- In my unit one of the hooks which allows me to remove the battery fell off, so I can't remove the battery unless I use tweezers to loosen the spring underneath, I haven't got time to contact Lenovo but I hope I don't have to send it back, since the part seems user replaceable.
Your reviews are the best video reviews.
Dear Lenovo, You are doing it wrong, Just bring the old Thinkpad keyboards back and don't try to make everything thin like Apple, we need a special device, a thicker one with more ports and better battery life. it's easy you can do this.
They struck a balance honestly.
And a 4:3 screen :)
No. Make it thin and make a balance.

I've been waiting for this review!
Love all your thinkpad reviews!
Congrats Lisa. You are doing a good job. Keep it up.
Ms Gade, you are a treasure. IMHO, you produce the best tech product reviews. Thank you so much!
Hi Lisa, great review as usual. Will you review the P52, I would love to see a review on that one. Its a bit more powerful than the P52s and has some other nice features. Don't see much reviews on that model on RUclips yet.
All it needs is the old ThinkPad keyboard and one of those 3000x2000 displays that Microsoft uses in the surface book and it will be epic.
I just got my T580 delivered today. Love it so far! I can probably get 20 hours of run time out of the latest secondary battery and 1080 FHD screen.
Love your reviews
Love the channel:) Is P52 in your plans to be reviewed?
Finally an not classic reviewer! 👍
I was bored by ‘all young men’ reviewers.
been following this lady for years now. she needs more subs - Cmon guys lets sub !! Greetings from Croatia!
Subbed! Love you . Also, I thought this was equipped with the new i7-8750H..
I've been using this laptop around the house for business for 2 years. Glad i paid for the premier warranty.
Thanks for the review, thought I was the only one buying it 🙈😹
So it's good for video editing?
Alias Rehbar well..sure does work for me at least without any probs. Check my channel if you like.
All recent videos done on this machine.
Hey, i'm going to buy it, ( 2D animation AE vs 4K premiere ), can you tell me about it !
Iam using it with adobe Premiere Elements 18 doing 4k video edit & works properly!
I know undervolted the CPU & feel i get more performance & battery life out of it.
cheers

thank you so much !, can you tell me something diffenrent P50 vs P52s, because somebody tell me that p52s is weaker than p50 @@, they said P52s just be a ultrabook for office, can't be a real workstation
Please make a review on ThinkPad P52. Its pretty new and so doesn't have many customizable options but want to hear what do you think about it.
yes I'd like one too !!
Love the review. Love the t-shirt.

I bought this with 32 GB of Ram. Happy with it so far.
Thank you so much. VERY USEFUL, suscribed
Love love live the t shirt!!
Great video! Will you test the zephyrus gm501 gs/gm in the future? Thx in advance.
Yes, I'll review the Zephyrus GM501- it's taking some time to get because Asus hasn't made enough.

P52 please!!!
Oh my god I love you.. 😍❤️❤️
Thank you for this..
Are you going to do a review on the Lenovo legion y530?
Your T shirt made me laugh 😁
How could one not adore such a shirt!
your shirt is more for me than the laptop. But your video always deserves a like.
Thanks ✅️
I love your videos.
Cmon, why is lenovo wasting space with that hard drive bay. Should have a bigger battery or 2 m.2 ssds in that space.
These are business-oriented machines, and businesses tend to stay well behind the cutting edge as far as tech. It's why the P-series has so many legacy features. I'm stunned they finally dropped the VGA port,
Hi Lisa, please review the new model P53s, youtube has no reviews for that laptop
This Machine is a Monster!!!!
Another solid review and the nerd shirt game is on point. Just finished up some leftover 7/4 pi.
I like that this model sticks to the origina appereance, looks old school, thought they upgrade their internals.
I like the review. And the shirt :)
Mine arrive tomorrow 😍😍😍
Lisa, on which benchmarks, if any, do mobile quadro cards justify their outrageously bad performance/dollar ratio compared to GeForce GTX or Radeon Vega?
I have gone through two Lenovo P52 high end models and the screen casing is coming apart!
Advise please! Carbon X1 or P52s. My eyes will thank the bigger screen and I use a lot the numpad, but X1 looks so irresistible...
You should also start adding affiliate links to the shirts you wear.
thankyo sooo much
This comment is probably too late for any good, but I have one of these laptops at the office and one for home. Both of them heat throttles even when streaming Netflix, much less any real workload. My experience definitely isn't in line with what your review states.
Any overheting under load? fan noise? any flaws?
Just looking for a laptop to work, esentially, with resource demanding ArcGIS systems. I began thinking about the XI Carbon series but wouldn't be this one a better choice? Any other suggestions? I'm a bit lost. This is a machine that I'll use for a living not for hobby stuff. I can't fail at this stage. Thanks in advance!
Which would be better for Color correction and Color grading videos and pictures ThinkPad52 or MSI GT75 8RG both with the 4k 100%argb panel?
I am getting one with 7th gen i7 2.9 GHz
2 gb quadro M2200 15.6UHD 500GB SSD , 32 GB DDR4 Ram at around Rs. 50,000 / $ 668
My Purpose is 3D Modelling. Please note that in office i have a pc provided by company with GTX 710 for same purpose with 8th gen i5 16GB Ram.
Is It recommended to purchase in 2022?
Are you going to review the E580, too?
Hi Lisa,
I want a slick-looking and thin metallic built laptop for some academic programming kind of workload.
What exactly makes this notebook a workstation? It is just normal laptop with normal specs.
The quadro gpu
Are you also going to do a review on the new HP ZBook studio G5 x360?
like your videos. thanx
Could you review P52 too? Thanks!
Would you guys recommend the Matebook X Pro or the Razer Blade Stealth for a college student?
Really wish they'd extend the integrated battery. The M.2-in-caddy system is horribly space inefficient. You have 13-inch ultrabooks (from Lenovo themselves, even) with far larger batteries...
This would have been perfect if it has those new 4000 ryzen cpus on it as a 2020 refresh or womething.
Hi Lisa. Please do a review of P1 and X1 extreme
Hi There!! i have questtion please? I would like to know... can i use the ThinkPad Dock, on my lenovo Thinkpad P52 15.6 G8? No on the P52s would you halp me with that? Thank you.
P1 or P53s ? Help me to choose.
Hi which would be the best lenovo lapotop for architects?
WHERE CAN I GET THAT SHIRT !!!!! Also, great vid :)
Ask hers sponsor moron. Or you know, you could make your own but then on the other hand I would not entrust you with anything warm let alone a clothing iron since you being an imbecile you know....
is it good for photographer for editing in Photoshop? with large RAW 100MB files ? and 5-6GB PSD file?
Why does all the internal windows laptops hardware look crap?
Is it good for gaming?
Still waiting for the Lenovo ThinkPad P71 review
can you review the 25th anniversary version? Is it worth the high price?
Hi-Fi Insider Sadly, no. I'd rather get a librebooted T400s with an extension bay than overpay for this 25th anniversary ThinkPad
