Much love! xx, Lauren
Literally I was fretting about this today😑 Thanks for this post
Thanks so much for the tip! I will give this a try.
Thanks so much for the tips! I have always struggled with this, but I’ve never heard it discussed before.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks Lauren and it’ll work for my biggest bow-holding problem …my pinky which is always very insecure. Chris NZ
Brilliant
Inspiring support, my mentor
🙂 🙏
Thank you Lauren. I'm in no hurry, But i wanna learn to play a new fiddle tune from the early 90's called Seminole Wind.
I am just starting, I've been holding it wrong!
Thanks a lot
You’re very welcome!
Ah ha! Thank so much Lauren!
You got it, Deb! 🙂
I notice that your thumb is not between the two middle fingers. I was taught to keep my thumb between the middle finger and the ring finger, and find myself constantly worrying about the thumb going between the middle and index finger as I play. So is this something I should not be worried about?
I thought of this a few months ago. I'm 64, I know I'm probably a little young to begin this but what the heck.😉 My grip is difficult to maintain because with arthritis (rheumatoid changes the shape of joints in rapid bursts) every day your joints are shaped slightly differently, swollen, extremely stiff or actually in alignment. It becomes difficult to tell how tight or loose your grip is ie., you may feel like you are squeezing the dickens out of the bow when you actually are barely maintaining grip or there is a slight delay in each movement due to stiffness. Some days, each finger is doing one of those, doing its own thing. I found the bow twisting then sliding. I have a kind off new tape, I don't remember the name but its not difficult to find. It is a 2 sided very sticky tape. However, despite feeling like you fingers or bow is getting gunked up, once you let go, or take tape off the bow, nothing, no residue. It's kinda freaky at first. This kind of tape can be cut small enough to keep my fingertip/pad in place but still allow freedom of movement of the rest of my finger. I tease my grandkids by telling them that I'm no amateur. I don't practice, I rehearse! Then sqeak out "Oh Suzanna". So after rehersaI, just pull the tapes off, wash them under warm water, and it's good to go again. Thank you for this video. I've been feeling like I'm somehow cheating with this but, it was this or stapling my fingers. No more feeling like I'm taking some unfair advantage.
PS This tape has many uses, it is strong and reuseable. I sometimes have to use overbed table and I can put a piece under a quart jar of water for watercolor and it's never slipped. If it gets linty (dusty but linty doesn't sound like I'm not dusting much) I use a little soap and back to new.
Thank you for this info! I had a question, what do I do if my thumb keeps creeping into the thumb leather? In specific, the middle part of my thumb keeps coming in contact with the leather as I play.
Thank you for the tip🤗.
Can I ask a question though??
Ask away!
