One of the most under appreciated players of the generation...Coors field or not, you cant ignore a guy who hit .330 every year...guy could flat out rake!
And Coors is mistaken as a hitters field, but it’s the exact opposite. The balls don’t just launch off of the bat. They lift and hang in the air for a VERY long time and it doesn’t get the distance other parks get. A lot of balls that should be a bloop to the gap base hit, are often caught because it hangs in the air for a longer time.
Man.. I remember watching this video about 9 years ago being amazed. Here we are 9 years later and he is in the hall of fame, unreal. Favorite player of all time, congrats on Cooperstown.
At 17 years old, I have gone my entire life watching this legend be born. To play at 40 years old, retiring at the year of his jersey number, and to have taken the Rockies to their ONLY time in the World Series, he is a legend. The nostalgia here is deafening and is nearly painful to watch. But Todd, thank you for giving the Rockies the greatest 17 years possible.
One of the greatest and he came from my home town. Knoxville. He was always loyal. Born here, went to college at UT, then never left the Rockies. Me and my dad would go watch him play for UT. And UT would sometimes host a baseball seminar for all the young players around the city and I would go to those and Todd would be there. :) Awesome guy. Vol For Life!
Number 17 in your programs, #1 in the hearts of Colorado fans. Thank you Todd for all the great memories you provided us over the years. HOF or not, you are still my favorite idol and player. Look forward to your retirement ceremony this weekend. The one and only TODDFATHER!!
That Vin Scully speech at the end is just so perfect. I was actually watching Sports Net LA when they aired Vin Scully's fairwell on be half of the dodgers, and I still have the goose bumps from it.
Man when I see people retire and move on I always have tears in my eyes even though I cheer for the reds, Todd Helton put tears in my eyes have your having a good life Helton.
Fun facts, Todd Helton is.... -The only man to record back-to-back seasons with 100+ XBH -First man to record 35+ doubles for 10 or more consecutive seasons (Bobby Abreu's the only other) -One of 12 to post a .300/.400/.500 slash line WITH more walks than K's -One of 5 to post a .370 BA with 40+ HR and 140+ RBI along with Ruth, Gehrig, Hornsby, and Klein -One of 4 to post 5 consecutive seasons with a .320 BA or better, 30 HR, 100 R, and 100 RBI along with Ruth, Gehrig, and Foxx -2nd all time among 1B's in assists -2nd all time among 1B's in TZR -3rd all time among 1B's in double plays turned
I’m a Braves fan, but if this guy doesn’t get in the Hall of Fame, something is very wrong. The only thing keeping him out is the Rockies not being liked by the media! Larry Walker and Todd Helton are both Hall of Fame caliber!
I don’t understand the whole Coors Field argument. So are we just going to ignore every Rockies player ever, no matter how good they are. Players should not be punished for playing for a specific team.
Seemed his career should have been even better than it was. I guess a fairly late start and a late career slide can account for that. Still pretty amazing career. Here's a fact I'm not sure how many of you know.... Helton is one of only three players in history to reach 100+ Extra Base Hits in a season twice. The others? Lou Gehrig, Chuck Klein. But Babe Ruth holds the single season high with 119 from 1921 (amazing he only did that once). Even though Helton did it twice, he ended his career with 998 XBH......
Vols stick together. Once a Vol, you're always one and have a good family of alumni who legit care for each other. Two legendary VFL's. People forget that Todd also played football as a QB. He went to UT for both football and baseball. And when Peyton was a Freshman, Helton was starting above him. At that time it was Colquitt who was the starter, then Helton, then Manning. Colquitt got injured on the first game of the season, so Helton took over. Then 3 weeks later, Helton was injured so Manning took the starter position. He played both sports also at Central High School here in Knoxville. At Central he threw for close to 3,000 yards as a QB. He was drafted straight out of highschool by the Padres in the 2nd round of the '92 draft but didn't sign and instead went to college.
Congrats on making it to Cooperstown, Toddfather! Well-deserved!!!

This highlight reel brings back memories. So grateful that this video still exists after 10 years.

Definitely one of the best first basemen ever HOF
Thank you to the video's creator for finally honoring the best Rockies player yet.
Man when I see people retire and move on I always have tears in my eyes even though I cheer for the reds, Todd Helton put tears in my eyes have your having a good life Helton.
What a legend. What a player. What a person. Coors Field or not, this guy was one hell of a player.

he deserved the MVP in 2000
He was a tremendous defensive 1B. Completely took away the sac bunt on the 1B side of the mound.
Such a class act. When have you ever heard someone say something bad about this guy? Great player, and even better teammate.
Beautiful. My favorite player.
Favorite player ever man
The music was a little loud but aside from that it was a great little trip down memory lane with the Toddfather
Saw him play AA ball for the New Haven Ravens. We all knew right away that he was something special.
THIS IS AWSOME
Much respect for this guy
an't help but love todd helton, great player, great guy
good times. Thanks Todd. nice vid Señor.

I love Vin Scully
Should've gotten in over rolen. .316 career ba??? 2500 hits, 3 gold gloves, 370 home runs. .316 batting average for 16 seasons is outstanding.
I have met his nephew and it’s glad he is following in his footsteps
I miss the Toddfather!
Love you uncle Todd!!

Amazing player and a real class act HOF in my book o matter what the voters say.
Yep

Good song choice
Had to mute the music that was horrible. Loved to see 17 though.
Career .316 average and power how the hell isn’t he in the hall
GREAT TRIBUTE BUT THATS NOT TODD HELTON MUSIC
His 2013 walk-up song is in the video
Rock music would've been more appropriate for Todd.

Choices*
로키스의첫 영구결번을 받게될 스타이자 오로지 로키스만 생각하는 로키스맨 토드 헬튼이 내년은 아닐지라도 그가 몇년후에 HOF 입성하는 날이 올것이라 보여집니다.
*Tips Fedora*
such a great player, too bad it was on such a shitty team
dislike for the music
